AbstractUnderlines the importance that US employers train and develop their employees rather than rely on recruiting them in the marketplace. Suggests that they do this by developing a corporate university and explains how it can be done. Quotes the experience of a number of US firms, including Whirlpool and North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System, that have done this successfully to illustrate how to set the objectives for the university, identify the training and how it will be delivered, fund the university, and deliver the courses. Insets look at whether corporate universities are suitable for small organizations and the trends in training methods .ISSN: 1047-3149 Article type: Viewpoint Reference: 41AJ698
