Abstract

Purpose

This paper aims to review the latest management developments across the globe and pinpoint practical implications from cutting-edge research and case studies.

Design/methodology/approach

This briefing is prepared by an independent writer who adds their own impartial comments and places the articles in context.

Findings

This study aimed to examine the impact of emotional intelligence (EI) and organizational communication on perceived team effectiveness among Nigerian bank employees. The researchers hypothesized that EI components and organizational communication would predict team effectiveness both independently and jointly. Results confirmed these hypotheses, showing that all components of EI positively correlated with team effectiveness, and organizational communication was a significant predictor. The combination of EI and communication jointly predicted team effectiveness, with use of emotions and regulation of emotions being particularly significant. Key managerial insights include investing in EI training and fostering open communication to enhance team performance.

Originality/value

The briefing saves busy executives, strategists and researchers hours of reading time by selecting only the very best, most pertinent information and presenting it in a condensed and easy-to-digest format.
