Richard Vytniorgu is a Research Fellow in the School of Health and Social Work at the University of Hertfordshire, UK. A literary scholar by training, his interdisciplinary and comparative research focuses on sexual/gendered identities and belonging, place and inclusion, with expertise in narrative and autobiographical representation across different media and genres. He has also published widely on twentieth-century women's autobiographical writing, masculinity, philosophy of education and student belonging. His research has been supported by funding from the AHRC, ESRC and Wellcome Trust. Before joining Hertfordshire in 2023, he held academic posts at the University of Nottingham and University of Exeter and has worked on AHRC and ESRC-funded projects exploring historical and contemporary dimensions of LGBTQ+ belonging, loneliness and inclusion in Britain.
