E‐learning: trends, predictions and IBM's leading edge approach: Computer giant networks its employees to integrate formal and informal learning online
Abstract
Purpose
Reviews the latest management developments across the globe and pinpoints practical implications from cutting‐edge research and case studies.
Design/methodology/approach
This briefing is prepared by an independent writer who adds their own impartial comments and places the articles in context.
Findings
There is no doubt that e‐learning is more than just a passing fad or phase. In fact, a recent article in Training Journal described how, at a seminar for learning professionals, the author asked the audience of 150 people who had tried an e‐learning initiative. A total of 100 percent raised their hands although just 10 percent claimed to be happy with it. Yet despite this lack of satisfaction, 75 percent of the audience said that they would do it again.
Practical implications
Provides strategic insights and practical thinking that have influenced some of the world's leading organizations.
Originality/value
The briefing saves busy executives and researchers hours of reading time by selecting only the very best, most pertinent information and presenting it in a condensed and easy‐to‐digest format.
