Corporate Culture and Training: The Seibu Experience
Abstract
Looks at the relationship between the organizational culture and the success of a training programme. Finds that, if the corporate culture element is not incorporated in the training programme, it might lead to a total failure. Demonstrates this conclusion in a case study of the Seibu Department Store (HK) Ltd, which adopted a total Japanese style of training programme for their first batch of Hong Kong graduate management trainees, who were found to be a total failure at the end of the programme.
