Abstract
Reviews the Eureka Alasca project. Outlines the pilot assembly cell developed for Zanussi’s washing machine plant. Describes the need for an operator‐friendly man‐machine interface. Explains the difficulties associated with the automated assembly of heavy concrete components lacking in precision.
