Abstract
Purpose
This article aims to predict the rapid track geometry change in the short term with a higher detection frequency, and realize the monitoring and maintenance of the railway state.
Design/methodology/approach
Firstly, the ABA data needs to be filtered to remove the DC component to reduce the drift due to integration. Secondly, the quadratic integration in frequency domain for concern components of the vertical and lateral ABA needs to be done. Thirdly, the displacement in lateral of the wheelset to rail needs to be calculated. Then the track alignment irregularity needs to be calculated by the integration of lateral ABA and the lateral displacement of the wheelset to rail.
Findings
By comparing with a commercial track geometry measurement system, the high-speed railway application results in different conditions, after removal of the influence of LDWR, identified that the proposed method can produce a satisfactory result.
Originality/value
This article helps realize detection of track irregularity on operating vehicle, reduce equipment production, installation and maintenance costs and improve detection density.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to reveal the effect of nano-Al2O3 particle addition on the nucleation/growth kinetics, microhardness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance of Co–P–xAl2O3 nanocomposite plating.
Design/methodology/approach
The kinetics and properties of Co–P–xAl2O3 nanocomposite plating prepared by electroplating were investigated by electrochemical measurements, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Vickers microhardness measurement, SRV5 friction and wear tester and atomic force microscopy.
Findings
A 12 g/L nano-Al2O3 addition in the plating solution can transform the nucleation/growth kinetics of the plating from the 3D progressive model to the 3D instantaneous model. The microhardness of the plating increased with the increase of nano-Al2O3 content in plating. The wear resistance of the plating did not adhere strictly to Archard’s law. An even and denser corrosion product film was generated due to the finer grains, with a high corrosion resistance.
Originality/value
The effect of different nano-Al2O3 addition on the nucleation/growth kinetics and properties of Co–P–xAl2O3 nanocomposite plating was investigated, and an anticorrosion mechanism of Co–P–xAl2O3 nanocomposite plating was proposed.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to investigate the corrosion inhibitor effect of migrating corrosion inhibitor (MCI) on Q235 steel in high alkaline environment under cathodic polarization.
Design/methodology/approach
This study investigated the electrochemical characteristics of Q235 steel with and without MCI by polarization curve and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Besides, the surface composition of Q235 steel under different environments was analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. In addition, the migration characteristic of MCI and the adsorption behavior of MCI under cathodic polarization were studied using Raman spectroscopy.
Findings
Diethanolamine (DEA) and N, N-dimethylethanolamine (DMEA) can inhibit the increase of Fe(II) in the oxide film of Q235 steel under cathodic polarization. The adsorption stability of DMEA film was higher under cathodic polarization potential, showing a higher corrosion inhibition ability. The corrosion inhibition mechanism of DEA and DMEA under cathodic polarization potential was proposed.
Originality/value
The MCI has a broad application prospect in the repair of damaged reinforced concrete due to its unique migratory characteristics. The interaction between MCIs, rebar and concrete with different compositions has been studied, but the passivation behavior of the steel interface in the presence of both the migrating electric field and corrosion inhibitors has been neglected. And it was investigated in this paper.

Abstract
Purpose
High power and speed are new demands for rotating machinery which needs the journal bearings with high dynamic characteristics. The critical speed of the rotor-bearing system is one of the most significant parameters to evaluate the dynamic characteristics. This paper aims to investigate the theoretical and experimental analysis of a rotor system supported by large diameter elliptical bearings.
Design/methodology/approach
To obtain the theoretical and experimental support for rotor-bearing system design, dynamic characteristics theoretical analysis based on the finite difference method is given and an experiment focuses on critical speed identification is carried out.
Findings
The theoretical calculation results indicate that the critical speed is near to 800 rpm and there is no large vibration amplitude round working speed (1,500 rpm). Using the test bench in the factory unit, vibration data including three experimental processes are obtained. According to the vibration data, the critical speed is identified which also indicates that it is stable when working at 1,500 rpm.
Originality/value
The design method for the rotor system supported by large diameter elliptical bearing can be obtained by the theoretical and experimental results shown in this paper.

This paper aims to study the influence of NaNO2 on the chemical composition of passivation film.
Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to study the influence of NaNO2 on the chemical composition of passivation film.
Design/methodology/approach
X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction were selected to determine the composition of passivation film of steel bars in mortar. The specimens were exposed to the chloride solution, carbonation environment and the coupling effects of chloride solution and carbonation. The chemical composition and micro structures at 0 and 5 nm from the outer surface of the passivation film of steel bars were analyzed.
Findings
Results showed that the nitrite inhibitor improved the forming rate of the passivation film and increased the mass ratio of Fe3O4 to FeOOH on the surface of steel bars. The component of Fe3O4 at 5 nm of the steel passivation film was more than that at 0 nm. Sodium ferrite in the pore solution was easily hydrolyzed and then FeOOH was formed. Therefore, due to the nitrite inhibitor, a “double layer structure” of the passivation film was formed to prevent steels bars from corrosion.
Originality/value
This is original work and may help the researchers further understand the mechanism of rust resistance by nitrite inhibitor.

Abstract
Purpose
On-orbit service technology is one of the key technologies of space manipulation activities such as spacecraft life extension, fault spacecraft capture, on-orbit debris removal and so on. It is known that the failure satellites, space debris and enemy spacecrafts in space are almost all non-cooperative targets. Relatively accurate pose estimation is critical to spatial operations, but also a recognized technical difficulty because of the undefined prior information of non-cooperative targets. With the rapid development of laser radar, the application of laser scanning equipment is increasing in the measurement of non-cooperative targets. It is necessary to research a new pose estimation method for non-cooperative targets based on 3D point cloud. The paper aims to discuss these issues.
Design/methodology/approach
In this paper, a method based on the inherent characteristics of a spacecraft is proposed for estimating the pose (position and attitude) of the spatial non-cooperative target. First, we need to preprocess the obtained point cloud to reduce noise and improve the quality of data. Second, according to the features of the satellite, a recognition system used for non-cooperative measurement is designed. The components which are common in the configuration of satellite are chosen as the recognized object. Finally, based on the identified object, the ICP algorithm is used to calculate the pose between two frames of point cloud in different times to finish pose estimation.
Findings
The new method enhances the matching speed and improves the accuracy of pose estimation compared with traditional methods by reducing the number of matching points. The recognition of components on non-cooperative spacecraft directly contributes to the space docking, on-orbit capture and relative navigation.
Research limitations/implications
Limited to the measurement distance of the laser radar, this paper considers the pose estimation for non-cooperative spacecraft in the close range.
Practical implications
The pose estimation method for non-cooperative spacecraft in this paper is mainly applied to close proximity space operations such as final rendezvous phase of spacecraft or ultra-close approaching phase of target capture. The system can recognize components needed to be capture and provide the relative pose of non-cooperative spacecraft. The method in this paper is more robust compared with the traditional single component recognition method and overall matching method when scanning of laser radar is not complete or the components are blocked.
Originality/value
This paper introduces a new pose estimation method for non-cooperative spacecraft based on point cloud. The experimental results show that the proposed method can effectively identify the features of non-cooperative targets and track their position and attitude. The method is robust to the noise and greatly improves the speed of pose estimation while guarantee the accuracy.

Abstract
Purpose
In order to solve the problem of inaccurate calculation of index weights, subjectivity and uncertainty of index assessment in the risk assessment process, this study aims to propose a scientific and reasonable centralized traffic control (CTC) system risk assessment method.
Design/methodology/approach
First, system-theoretic process analysis (STPA) is used to conduct risk analysis on the CTC system and constructs risk assessment indexes based on this analysis. Then, to enhance the accuracy of weight calculation, the fuzzy analytical hierarchy process (FAHP), fuzzy decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (FDEMATEL) and entropy weight method are employed to calculate the subjective weight, relative weight and objective weight of each index. These three types of weights are combined using game theory to obtain the combined weight for each index. To reduce subjectivity and uncertainty in the assessment process, the backward cloud generator method is utilized to obtain the numerical character (NC) of the cloud model for each index. The NCs of the indexes are then weighted to derive the comprehensive cloud for risk assessment of the CTC system. This cloud model is used to obtain the CTC system's comprehensive risk assessment. The model's similarity measurement method gauges the likeness between the comprehensive risk assessment cloud and the risk standard cloud. Finally, this process yields the risk assessment results for the CTC system.
Findings
The cloud model can handle the subjectivity and fuzziness in the risk assessment process well. The cloud model-based risk assessment method was applied to the CTC system risk assessment of a railway group and achieved good results.
Originality/value
This study provides a cloud model-based method for risk assessment of CTC systems, which accurately calculates the weight of risk indexes and uses cloud models to reduce uncertainty and subjectivity in the assessment, achieving effective risk assessment of CTC systems. It can provide a reference and theoretical basis for risk management of the CTC system.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to investigate the transformations during aging at 200°C for different periods on microstructure and mechanical properties of high-temperature Zn-4Al-3Mg solders.
Design/methodology/approach
The solder was melted in a resistance furnace, and different cooling rates were obtained by changing the cooling medium. Subsequently, all the specimens were aged at 200°C for 20 h and 50 h. A scanning electron microscope equipped with an energy dispersive X-ray detector and X-ray diffraction were used for the observation of microstructures and the determination of phase composition. Tensile tests and Rockwell hardness tests were also performed.
Findings
After aging, Zn atoms precipitated from the supersaturated α-Al and the (α-Al + η-Zn)eutectoid phase with the original fine lamellar structure coarsened and spheroidized to minimize the system energy. Among these solders, the furnace-cooled alloys exhibited the highest thermal stability, largely retaining their original morphology after aging, whereas the collapse and spheroidization of the η-Zn phase and the coarsening of the η-Zn dendrites took place in the air-cooled and water-cooled samples, respectively. Furthermore, a decrease in tensile strength during aging was attributed to the thermal softening effect. The variation of macro-hardness was mainly associated with the microstructural alterations in terms of quantity, morphology and distribution of soft η-Zn phase and hard intermetallic compounds induced by the aging treatment.
Originality/value
The structural stability of eutectic Zn-4Al-3Mg solders solidified at different cooling rates and the effect of aging on mechanical properties were investigated.

Abstract
Purpose
Although idea implementation is a praised useful resource, the psychological and behavioral costs that employees may pay for idea implementation are rarely discussed. This study aims to examine the buffer effect of intrinsic interest on dark side of idea implementation.
Design/methodology/approach
Based on the conservation of resources theory, this study tested hypotheses with a multi-wave survey study of four information technology companies in China.
Findings
First, idea implementation increased emotional exhaustion. Second, emotional exhaustion mediated the relationship between employee idea implementation and negative workplace gossip about a leader. Third, intrinsic interest negatively moderated the relationship between idea implementation and emotional exhaustion. Fourth, idea implementation increased workplace negative gossip about a leader as a result of increased emotional exhaustion when intrinsic interest was low.
Originality/value
These findings are conducive to further understanding of the psychological mechanism and boundary condition of the negative impact of idea implementation. It provides practical guidance for buffering the dark side of idea implementation and effectively controlling the workplace negative gossip in the workplace.
