Abstract
Purpose
Large volumes of users' creative information have rapidly become vital resources in the open innovation platforms, so it is crucial to identify high-quality information from massive creative information. However, the existing literature on the quality of creative information only focuses on the information characteristics or publishers' features.
Design/methodology/approach
In this paper, the authors used the elaboration likelihood model to examine the joint effect of central route factors (information characteristics: timeliness, readability and sentiment) and peripheral route factors (source characteristics: personality traits, past successful experiences and social network location) on the quality of creative information. Furthermore, the author explored the moderating roles of companies' support between central and peripheral route factors on the quality of creative information. Finally, binary logistic regression was adopted to test the research hypotheses on the empirical data from Salesforce.
Findings
The results indicated that users with high extroversion, conscientiousness, social centrality and prior success rate tended to propose high-quality information. Meanwhile, information timeliness, readability and sentiment also negatively influence the quality of creative information.
Originality/value
Different from previous studies, the study findings not only provide insights on identifying the quality of creative information from an information perspective, but also promotes the awareness of the intrinsic personality traits of information users and innovative support efforts by platforms and their managers.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to contrastively investigate the effects of biodiesel and diesel on the power, economy and combustion characteristics of a compression ignition aviation piston engine for unmanned aerial vehicles.
Design/methodology/approach
Biodiesel used as alternative fuel will not be mixed with diesel during experimental study. Pure diesel fuel is used for the comparative test. Same fuel injection strategies, including pilot and main injection, are guaranteed for two fuels in same test points.
Findings
The engine-rated power of biodiesel is lower than diesel, which results in higher specific fuel combustion (SFC) and effective thermal efficiency (ETE). Biodiesel has the faster burning rate, shorter combustion duration. The crank angle of 50% mass fraction burned (CA50) is earlier than diesel. The ignition delay angle of biodiesel and diesel in the pilot injection stage is almost the same at high engine speed. As the speed and load decrease, the ignition delay angle of biodiesel in the pilot injection stage is smaller than diesel. At 100% high load conditions, the fuel-burning fraction of biodiesel in the pilot injection is the same as diesel. The peak heat release rate (HRR) of biodiesel is slightly lower than diesel. At 20% part load conditions, the fuel-burning fraction of biodiesel in the pilot injection stage is lower than diesel. Because of the combustion participation of unburned pilot injected fuel, the peak HRR of biodiesel in the main injection is equal to or even higher than diesel.
Originality/value
The application feasibility of alternative fuel and its effects on aviation engine power, economy and combustion characteristics will be evaluated according to the “drop-in“ requirements and on the low-cost premise without changing the aviation engine structure and parameters.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to discuss the dynamic adsorption processes of carbon dioxide in a porous fixed bed on the industrial scale, using a multiple-relaxation-time lattice Boltzmann (LB) model.
Design/methodology/approach
A multiple-relaxation-time LB model is developed to predict the dynamic adsorption processes of carbon dioxide in a porous fixed bed on the industrial scale. The breakthrough curves from the simulation results are compared with the experimental data to validate the reliability of this model, and the effects of flow velocity, porosity and linear driving force mass transfer coefficient on the adsorption behaviors of carbon dioxide are explored further.
Findings
The numerical results show that the improved fluid flux leads to the reduction in the time required for completion of adsorption processes nonlinearly, and the differential pressure significantly raises with the decreasing porosity of porous fixed bed for fixed values of Reynolds number and total adsorption capacity. The maximum adsorption ratio of carbon dioxide was found at Re = 12 in this work. In addition, the higher mass transfer resistance of adsorbent particles advances the appearance time of the breakthrough point and delays the completion time of the adsorption processes.
Originality/value
This work will provide a way to study the adsorption technology of carbon dioxide in the fixed-bed using the LB method.

Research limitations/implications
One limitation is that the questionnaire survey the authors choose for data collection has some natural defects; furthermore, the testing method and research framework need to be improved.
Practical implications
Several implications of the findings for managerial practices are discussed.
Originality/value
First, the research expands the existing theoretical construct by introducing the KS effect into the open innovation process; second, the authors reveal the negative impact of R&D originality on the open innovation process.

Abstract
Purpose
Dynamic movement primitives (DMPs) is a general robotic skill learning from demonstration method, but it is usually used for single robotic manipulation. For cloud-based robotic skill learning, the authors consider trajectories/skills changed by the environment, rebuild the DMPs model and propose a new DMPs-based skill learning framework removing the influence of the changing environment.
Design/methodology/approach
The authors proposed methods for two obstacle avoidance scenes: point obstacle and non-point obstacle. For the case with point obstacles, an accelerating term is added to the original DMPs function. The unknown parameters in this term are estimated by interactive identification and fitting step of the forcing function. Then a pure skill despising the influence of obstacles is achieved. Using identified parameters, the skill can be applied to new tasks with obstacles. For the non-point obstacle case, a space matching method is proposed by building a matching function from the universal space without obstacle to the space condensed by obstacles. Then the original trajectory will change along with transformation of the space to get a general trajectory for the new environment.
Findings
The proposed two methods are certified by two experiments, one of which is taken based on Omni joystick to record operator’s manipulation motions. Results show that the learned skills allow robots to execute tasks such as autonomous assembling in a new environment.
Originality/value
This is a new innovation for DMPs-based cloud robotic skill learning from multi-scene tasks and generalizing new skills following the changes of the environment.

Abstract
Purpose
Real-time monitoring of the critical physical fields of core components in complex equipment is of great significance as it can predict potential failures, provide reasonable preventive maintenance strategies and thereby ensure the service performance of the equipment. This research aims to propose a hierarchical explicit–implicit combined sensing-based real-time monitoring method to achieve the sensing of critical physical field information of core components in complex equipment.
Design/methodology/approach
Sensor deployable and non-deployable areas are divided based on the dynamic and static constraints in actual service. An integrated method of measurement point layout and performance evaluation is used to optimize sensor placement, and an association mapping between information in non-deployable and deployable areas is established, achieving hierarchical explicit–implicit combined sensing of key sensor information for core components. Finally, the critical physical fields of core components are reconstructed and visualized.
Findings
The proposed method is applied to the spindle system of CNC machine tools, and the result shows that this method can effectively monitor the spindle system temperature field.
Originality/value
This research provides an effective method for monitoring the service performance of complex equipment, especially considering the dynamic and static constraints during the service process and detecting critical information in non-deployable areas.
