Abstract
Relationships between men and women in the future professional environment will be dependent on communication skills and the ability to co‐exist peacefully, benefiting from each others' work. The need for special programmes in social responsibility and change for politicians, policy makers and legislators is evident, in order to remove entrenched attitudes towards women's capabilities. The first step is to understand the way in which women and men think, react, behave and respond to problems. The next step is for everyone to open their mind to new developments and accept change.

Abstract
Literature on strategic planning and management is prolific. Articles deal with various aspects of strategic planning, its definition, process, and application. However, many of these articles concentrate on the theory and on the strategic planning models rather than deal with practical application or problems experienced at implementation levels. My interest in reviewing this literature is to identify studies which offer significant key approaches and relate them to the field of education planning. Can we learn something from the way in which strategic plans are formulated and implemented in the business world and apply this knowledge to planning and operation of academic institutions?

Introduction It is becoming increasingly important for managers to be able to think and react effectively towards situations presented to them by the dynamic environment. The application of acquired programmed knowledge is no longer enough for problem‐solving or decision making unless supplemented with skills acquired as a result of work experience.

Abstract
The 1980s is a decade of transition into the information age in which technological developments will speed up the process of communication. Alvin Toffler in The Third Wave discusses the impact of “an electronic revolution that will change our entire economy, our city structure, our values and even our politics”. Rapid transmission of messages via telecommunication reduces distances and increases “information power”. For example, videotext is used to create direct access to data. Electronic mail speeds up the process of sending and receiving information.

Abstract
Managers involved in international business should be concerned with the cultural context of communication. A contrasting of the way the Americans and Japanese perceive reality and thus relate within their individual societies, highlights the danger inherent if one chooses to exist within a strict ethnocentric system, remaining insensitive to other cultures. Business schools should consider cross‐cultural education as an integral programme component to prepare students for the international perspective.

Abstract
The librarian and researcher have to be able to uncover specific articles in their areas of interest. This Bibliography is designed to help. Volume IV, like Volume III, contains features to help the reader to retrieve relevant literature from MCB University Press' considerable output. Each entry within has been indexed according to author(s) and the Fifth Edition of the SCIMP/SCAMP Thesaurus. The latter thus provides a full subject index to facilitate rapid retrieval. Each article or book is assigned its own unique number and this is used in both the subject and author index. This Volume indexes 29 journals indicating the depth, coverage and expansion of MCB's portfolio.
