Abstract
Purpose
The interconnectedness of supply chain processes in the aerospace industry requires companies to operate with excellence and the ability to provide robust technologies such as blockchain technology (BCT) to aid supply chain productivity. This paper aims to examine the existing practices of aerospace supply chain management, identify how BCT is used in the aerospace supply chain and whether it affects environmental sustainability.
Design/methodology/approach
The qualitative research approach was used, and an online interview with informants was undertaken to collect data.
Findings
The findings demonstrate that BCT has a diverse function in achieving sustainable development goals.
Practical implications
The manufacturing sector can be strengthened by successfully deploying BCT in aerospace supply chain management. It contributes to achieving sustainable development objectives by introducing transparency to the system and bolstering market position. BCT enables organisations to gain a competitive edge by attaining innovative operational excellence in the face of the complexity of the supply chain environment.
Originality/value
The findings can serve as a guide for anticipating the effectiveness of BCT in aerospace supply chain management.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to investigate the adoption barriers of Industry 4.0 in the Indonesian manufacturing supply chains.
Design/methodology/approach
The mixed method was deployed to validate the findings. First, the qualitative study was conducted based on the interviews. Then, the companies were approached using filter questions on the involvement in adopting industry 4.0 and its impact on the supply chain.
Findings
Based on the qualitative study, nine main barriers were found in the thematic analysis. Thus, to get a consensus on the barriers in the industry, the barrier indicators were tested using a structural equation model retrieved from 173 small and medium Indonesian manufacturing firms. Results indicate that five main barriers (e.g. unclear Industry 4.0 policy, higher-risk investment, insecure data sharing, lack of expertise and lack of incentive) are confirmed as the adoption barriers.
Practical implications
The successful adoption of supply chain integration with Industry 4.0 technology can strengthen the manufacturing sector and competitiveness. Therefore, this study can be a complimentary assessment to evaluate the Indonesia Industry 4.0 Readiness Index (INDI 4.0) and the effectiveness of the government support program.
Originality/value
The results can be used as the framework to foresee the successful implementation of smart manufacturing supply chain management and its integration. Therefore, the authors proposed the framework to foresee the successful implementation of smart manufacturing, supply chain management and integration.

Abstract
Purpose
Since the establishment of Islamic banks in Malaysia since the 1980s, the banking system has undergone rampant development within the financial industry. It has resulted in a positive competitive challenge for the conventional banks and able to attract not just the Muslim customers, but also those non-Muslim customers. At the same time, understanding the customers' knowledge of Islamic banking products is an interesting issue to explore. This issue is raised because the Islamic bank products are often packaged using Arabic terms, even though it is marketed in non-Arabic countries like Malaysia. Therefore, this study aims to examine the factors that influence the intention of the Islamic banking customers as the result of relying on some information produced by Malaysian Islamic banks.
Design/methodology/approach
This study is conducted using the existing underpinning theory of planned behaviour (TPB). A total of 300 questionnaires were analysed using the structural equation modelling (SEM).
Findings
The results indicated that perceived behavioural control, attitude and subjective norms of the Islamic banking depositors are positively influenced by the intention of the depositors to learn about Islamic banking.
Research limitations/implications
One of the main issues faced in this study is the result cannot be generalised. It is not possible to know based on the collected data if the sample is representative, other than the fact that all of the respondents are Islamic bank depositors. Nevertheless, it can still be a catalyst for further research as a link to existing findings in the area. There might be a bias on the understanding of the respondents about Islamic banking. This is due to the fact that Malaysia is a multi-racial population. Malay people might have a better understanding and basic knowledge about Islamic banking than the Chinese, Indians and other races. This cultural bias could be overcome in future studies by identifying respondents who have experiences in dealing with Islamic banking.
Originality/value
This study provides interesting insights of the Malaysian banking industry in terms of the multi-racial customers' intention to learn about Islamic banking, which is scarcely discussed in the extant literature.

Purpose
This study aims to examine the factors that affect individuals’ intention of participating in donation crowdfunding in the context of Oman.
Design/methodology/approach
This study used the self-determination theory. A total of 250 respondents from Oman participated. The data is collected by online survey and analyses by using the partial least squares technique.
Findings
The results illustrate that sense of self-worth, perceived donor effectiveness and moral obligation positively affect donation intention (DI) towards crowdfunding projects. Furthermore, subjective norms and perceived behavioural control positively impact individuals’ intention to contribute to donation crowdfunding.
Originality/value
The results contribute to the literature on donation crowdfunding by identifying the driving forces of individuals’ DI to crowdfunding projects in Oman.

Purpose
The post-disaster effect is an essential for countries to rebuild an affected place and provide basic needs for victims. However, the government fund alone is insufficient to cover the total loss of victims. Hence, most of the non-government organisations (NGOs) will play an essential role in raising donation funds from the public. Therefore, this study aims to examine the relationship between information disclosures and giving behaviour.
Design/methodology/approach
A total of 215 responses were gathered through a self-administered questionnaire. The data is analysed using structural equation modelling technique.
Findings
The study result shows that background information, financial information, non-financial information and governance information directly affect trust. Trust is a significant mediator between background, financial, non-financial and governance information towards giving behaviour. Besides, the results illustrated that religious belief does not moderate the relationship between trust and giving behaviour.
Originality/value
This study provides significant knowledge that may be useful for NGOs to be aware of the importance of information disclosures revealed by organisations and make required decisions for potential donors to have trust in organisations handling donations and will be engaging in giving behaviour.

Abstract
Purpose
Islamic banking is a financial institution that is concerned with the regulation of the Shariah guidelines. Several full-fledged and Windows-based Islamic banks in Pakistan have reported non-Shariah-compliant income (NSCI) due to various operational investment activities. Hence, this issue has attracted this study to examine the impact of NSCI, especially from the perspective of Islamic bank (IB) customers’ trust and commitment.
Design/methodology/approach
This study used trust-commitment theory as the underlying theory to examine customers’ trust and commitment. A total of 341 questionnaires have been distributed, and the data is analysed using the structural equation modelling (SEM) method.
Findings
The results show the commitment of IB customers has a significant relationship with the benevolence, trust and shared values of the top management of IBs. Meanwhile, the other two constructs, the ability and integrity of the top management, are found to be insignificant.
Research limitations/implications
The gender diversity among banks’ customers in Pakistan is the main limitation in this study. There were difficulties in selecting a more representative sample due to gender domination issues in the country. Thus the data revealed that 62.8% were male respondents, which confirms the prior research on the gender disparity.
Originality/value
This study provides interesting insights into the context of Pakistan’s Islamic banking sector as it examines top management’s ability, integrity, benevolence and shared values to affect trust and commitment, and the role of trust as a mediator.

Purpose
The aim of this study is to look into the factors that influence the level of ethics and integrity in Malaysian public sector.
Design/methodology/approach
This study uses a quantitative approach by delivering 128 questionnaires to Federal Chief Integrity Officers (CIOs), of which 83 were received and usable. The data were analysed using multiple regression analysis and descriptive statistics.
Findings
The quality of CIO in terms of competency, work performance and ethical climate has significant impact on the level of ethics and integrity. According to the study, having certified CIOs who can effectively perform their function and promote and nurture a transparent ethical climate are critical for the Malaysian Federal government to maintain a high level of ethics. Employees who have a high level of ethics are more likely to stay with the organization.
Practical implications
In addition, this study will assist policymakers in taking the required actions to strengthen public sector integrity practices for the establishment of a more dependable and efficient government in Malaysia.
Originality/value
This study addresses a gap in the Malaysian public sector’s level of ethics and integrity.

Abstract
Purpose
The study aims to examine factors that influence customers' intention to use online food delivery applications using a smartphone. The factors examined in this study are based on the existing theory of Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) namely performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, information quality, price-saving orientation and time-saving orientation towards intention to use the applications. Moreover, this research model also has been expanded with an additional dimension, attitude towards online food delivery services which lead to the intention to use online food delivery services through a smartphone. Furthermore, the present study also tested the role of age as moderator constructs between attitude towards online food delivery services and intention to use online food delivery services through a smartphone.
Design/methodology/approach
The study employed a quantitative method and 256 respondents participated in this study. The questionnaires are distributed using a convenience sampling technique and the data is analysed using partial least square approach.
Findings
The result shows that four (4) constructs, i.e. social influence, information quality, price-saving orientation and time-saving orientation have a positive relationship and significant effect on attitude towards online food delivery service where it enhances the intention to use the application. Attitude towards online food delivery services also has a significant effect on the intention to use. Furthermore, age was not found significant to moderate the relationship between attitude and intention to use.
Practical implications
The output of this study has several practical contributions such as enhances the existing knowledge and skillset of the shared-economy industry, online food delivery service providers as well as restaurant owners in improving the quality of life of the customers. It also provides contextual knowledge and a deeper understanding of online food delivery applications for customers in Malaysia.
Originality/value
The findings provide a guiding principle for improving the present determinant factors, attitude towards online food delivery service and intention to use online food delivery applications.

Gamification applications (apps) are gaining great attention in many contexts and have grown increasingly. Despite their significant role in many settings, prior research mainly focused on initial adoption, and there are limited studies on the post-adoption stage. This study aims to explore the factors influencing individuals’ continuance intention to use gamified task manager apps, drawing on the technology continuance theory (TCT) by integrating enjoyment, habit and social influence.
Design/methodology/approach
Data were obtained from 318 Malaysian who had prior experience with task management gamified apps and analysed with the partial least squares approach.
Findings
According to the results, confirmation, perceived usefulness (PU) and enjoyment positively influence satisfaction. PU, enjoyment, satisfaction and social influence affect attitude, while the result failed to confirm the association between perceived ease of use and attitude. Furthermore, PU, attitude and habit are strong determinants of users’ continuance intention. Moreover, continuance intention was not predicted by users’ satisfaction and social influence.
Practical implications
The findings provide directions for developers and marketers of gamified task manager apps. Besides the technological and functional benefits of applications, they should also consider social, hedonic and individual factors in the designing and marketing stages.
Originality/value
This study extends the literature by assessing the determinants of continuous intention to use gamified task manager apps; and extending the TCT in the context of gamification by incorporating three contextual factors, namely, perceived enjoyment, social influence and habit.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to find out the current state of cloud-based library services in selected academic and special libraries of Bangladesh. The study also explored some pertinent problems faced by librarians in implementing this new technology in library services and activities.
Design/methodology/approach
The study used a mixed-method approach with a range of exploratory research questions. Purposive sampling technique was used to select the libraries. A set of structured questionnaires was designed to address the objectives of the study. For in-depth analysis, short interviews with the library professionals were also conducted.
Findings
Only four libraries made use of cloud computing services, and they maintained a partial cloud environment. Most responding librarians treated cloud computing as a dynamically scalable infrastructure for applications, data and file storage with charges imposed. Most of the respondents (90%) preferred cloud computing for “Software-as-a-Service”. Due to the high subscription rate (70%), unreliable online payment system (60%) and trading system (60%), librarians treated cloud computing as a burden in providing library services and activities. Respondent librarians were also interviewed for exploring their views on cloud computing in library services. For adopting cloud computing in library services of Bangladesh, “sufficient financial allocation” and “organizations’ positive decision over cloud computing” were mentioned as challenging tasks by the respondents. Finally, the study suggested some solutions to the problem and proposed a model for a cloud-based library system that can be replicated in libraries and information centres of other developing countries too.
Originality/value
This paper encapsulates the overall scenario of cloud-based library activities and services in Bangladesh. Based on the available secondary sources, no empirical study on librarians’ perceptions of cloud computing in library services of Bangladesh has been carried out before this study. Thus, this is perhaps the first attempt to quantitatively measure cloud-based services in Bangladeshi libraries.
