Abstract
Purpose
Based on the theory of customer citizenship behavior (CCB), the purpose of this paper is to explore the antecedents and consequences of investor citizenship behavior in the field of crowdfunding and have an in-depth study of the interaction effect between investors’ perceptions of novelty and investors’ motivations.
Design/methodology/approach
Based on the CCB theory and self-determination theory, the authors develop hypotheses and collect questionnaire data (a sample of 226 crowdfunding investors) from crowdfunding websites to test models and get conclusions by SPSS and smartPLS 2.0.
Findings
The results indicate that internal and external motivations significantly influence investors’ citizenship behavior, which further affects investors’ stickiness intentions. Furthermore, results show that investors’ perceptions of novelty moderate the relationships between internal/external motivations and citizenship behaviors.
Originality/value
This paper offers an in-depth explanation of the citizenship behaviors in crowdfunding, which could be an example for studying the motivations of investors’ citizenship behaviors and could also serve as a starting point to introduce the stickiness intention theory of e-commerce and virtual community into crowdfunding area. In addition, this study also made an empirical analysis of how the perceived project novelty affects the relationships between investors’ motivations and citizenship behaviors.

Abstract
Purpose
With the global economic slowdown in 2023, most universities in the central and western regions of China may face the problem of shortage of government financial funding, which is directly related to the development of science and technology of the universities. With the support of the local government, most of the ordinary universities have shifted attention to the transfer and transformation of intellectual property based on school-enterprise cooperation, hoping to seek more commercialization income as an extra source of income. Therefore, this paper aimed to study the current situation of university intellectual property, i.e. the reserve and distribution of transferable patents, discipline distribution of patents, and regional cooperation of university patents.
Design/methodology/approach
A patent database of 10 key universities in Henan Province of China from 2012 to 2021 was established. The evaluation indicator model by the Entropy method was conducted to reveal the interaction mechanism between quantity indicators, quality indicators, and value indicators. Based on the data analysis, the development direction of the discipline construction and school-enterprise cooperation for local universities was clear.
Findings
The findings indicated that the number of patent applications from ten key universities in Henan Province has been increasing rapidly over the years. The trend for authorized invention patents has remained relatively stable. Compared with the patent applications and authorizations, the growth of transferable patents was notably slow. The significance of strategic layout of dominant disciplines and related high-value patents was not appreciated enough by Chinese government and universities. There was a large difference of dominant disciplines between 10 key universities, and the patent level of each university was directly proportional to the number of dominant disciplines. The university patent level heavily relied on the researchers' contributions and the distribution mechanism of scientific research resources within the university. Guangdong Province and the Yangtze River Delta of China, being economically developed regions, exhibited the most active engagement in patent technology cooperation. Conversely, the central and western regions displayed relatively lower participation in high-value patent research and development.
Research limitations/implications
This study can provide a unique perspective to understand and solve the financial bottleneck problem of ordinary universities in the central and western regions of China. The discipline construction and school-enterprise cooperation are just one of the existing schemes, but it still cannot solve the financial problems faced by local universities in China towards the government.
Practical implications
The findings of this study can serve as a foundation for further investigation into policies aimed at improving the financial problems of ordinary universities in the central and western regions of China.
Originality/value
As an important attempt, the study tried to focus the financial problem of universities in the central and western regions of China based on the evaluation of the current situation of university intellectual property. This research findings are of great value in finding optimal layout between university patents, disciplines and school-enterprise cooperation.

Purpose
Based on the theory of social networks, it is crucial to enhance information superiority through joint venture capital (VC). The purpose of this paper is to explore the impacts of different roles’ structural and relational embeddedness on the information superiority of joint VC alliances.
Design/methodology/approach
The authors design the multiple linear regression models to investigate the leader’s investment ratio from a network embeddedness perspective. Panel data analysis and robustness tests are adopted based on the data from Chinese VCs Database.
Findings
The results show that VC leaders enjoy information search advantages because of their better network positions, while their followers lack this superiority. Information sharing among investors and investees may enhance the influences of structural embeddedness on investors’ information search advantages. Joint VC’s scale and its number of leaders could also increase VC alliances’ information superiority.
Originality/value
This research provides a more holistic understanding of the formation of joint VC alliances’ information superiority from a social network perspective. Both VC managers and social planners can seek guidance from this study to implement better strategies and policies to promote information symmetry in the VC market.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to examine how use of industry standards and community socialization contribute to the operational, strategic and environmental performances of supply chain partners.
Design/methodology/approach
Survey data were collected from 216 firms in China that have implemented RosettaNet standards. Structural equation modeling was used to test the hypotheses forming the research model.
Findings
The empirical analysis suggests that use of industry standards and community socialization is central to achieving greater supply chain performances. The results show that the use of industry standards and community socialization enhance inter-organizational knowledge sharing and trust, which eventually improve performances of supply chain partners.
Originality/value
The study makes several contributions to the literature. First, it highlights the importance of standards consortia, which not only develop and promote industry standards, but also improve community socialization. Second, the research examines how use of industry standards could influence the operational, strategic and environmental performances of supply chains, and thus fills the research gap in related literature. Third, this paper explores how industry standards can be used as boundary objects to span organizational boundaries and enable greater supply chain partnerships.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to investigate the effect of three-dimensional (3D) inlet guide vanes (IGVs) on performance of a centrifugal pump.
Design/methodology/approach
A design method for 3D IGVs is proposed based on the controllable velocity moment, which is determined by a fourth-order dimensionless function. Numerical simulation of the centrifugal pump with IGVs is carried out by solving the Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes equations. The method of frozen rotor is applied to couple the stationary and rotational domain.
Findings
The efficiency of pump with 3D IGVs is higher than that with 2D IGVs for most prewhirl angles, which validate the advancement of 3D IGVs on prewhirl regulation. The effect of prewhirl regulation at small flow rate is more significant than that at large flow rate.
Originality/value
A prediction model of velocity moment based on the Oseen vortex is proposed to describe the flow pattern downstream the IGVs.

Abstract
Urban water bodies play an important role in reducing summertime urban heat island (UHI) effects. Previous studies focused mainly on the impact of water bodies of large areas, and there is no analysis of the efficacy and scale effect of how small and medium-sized water bodies reduce the UHI effects. Hence, these studies could not provide theoretical support for the scientific planning and design of urban water bodies. This study aims to confirm, within different scale ranges, the efficacy of a water body in reducing the summertime UHI effects. We propose a scale sensitivity method to investigate the temporal and spatial relationship between urban water bodies and UHI. Based on the scale theory and geostatistical analysis method in landscape ecology, this study used the platforms of 3S, MATLAB, and SPSS to analyze the distance-decay law of water bodies in reducing summertime UHI effects, as well as the scale response at different water surface ratios. The results show that the influence of water surfaces on UHIs gradually decreases with increasing distance, and the temperature rises by 0.78 °C for every 100 m away from the water body. During daytime, there is a scaled sensitivity of how much water surfaces reduce the summertime UHI effects. The most sensitive radius from the water was found at the core water surface ratio of 200 m. A reduction of UHI intensity by 2.3 °C was observed for every 10% increase of the average core water surface ratio. This study provides a theoretical reference to the control of heat islands for the planning and design of urban water bodies.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to investigate the research on the influence of tech-innovation behavior on tech-innovation performance for Chinese manufacturing enterprises. Environmental performance has been taken into consideration with the green manufacturing and sustainability philosophy being a hotspot.
Design/methodology/approach
To verify the hypotheses and assumptions, a questionnaire was designed and a semi-structured interview was conducted for data collection. In addition, structural equation modeling (SEM) is applied to verify the influence model through assessing the fitting indexes based on the 317 questionnaire responses in the form of Likert-type scale.
Findings
Tech-innovation behavior and activity from direction, mode and investment behavior dimensions show their different positive influences on tech-innovation performance. This paper has creatively taken environmental tech-innovation performance into consideration, as well as economic performance. This investigation has provided the interpretation for each individual enterprise from three dimensions when conducting tech-innovation activity.
Research limitations/implications
Tech-innovation behavior, which has been a subject of extended discussion during recent decades, is the effective activity or action for tech-innovation. However, there have not been any studies on the environmental performance influence study, as well as the economic performance from these three dimensions and framework.
Practical implications
As this paper discusses the tech-innovation performance influence study from three dimensions, individual enterprises can choose the corresponding action for the proper tech-innovation path, especially for small- and medium-sized enterprises.
Originality/value
This study helps managers recognize tech-innovation activities for better tech-innovation performance based on the empirical study.

Abstract
Purpose
The paper aims to investigate the clocking effect on a centrifugal pump with inlet guide vanes (IGVs).
Design/methodology/approach
The paper uses a computation fluid dynamics (CFD) framework to solve the unsteady flows in a centrifugal pump with inlet guide vanes. The relative position between the stationary vanes and the stationary volute tongue is defined as the clocking position when IGVs inside the suction pipe rotate along the circumferential direction.
Findings
The results show that clocking positions have little effect on the pump head and efficiency, however their influences are obvious for the pressure fluctuation and flow field in the centrifugal pump. The maximum difference of pressure amplitude at dominant frequency reach up to 28% on the monitoring point V8 at different clocking positions under design flow rate. For the large flow rate, the clocking effect on flow field and pressure fluctuation in centrifugal pump is similar to that of design flow rate. However, the clocking effect is nearly negligible at partial flow rate, because there are reverse flows around the tongue tip and obvious vortexes forming and developing in the impeller. Those complex phenomena interacting in the centrifugal pump make the clocking effect less evident.
Originality/value
The numerical investigation reveals the clocking effect on a centrifugal pump with inlet guide vanes, which also valuable for the stable operation and optimal design of centrifugal pumps.

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to examine factors that impact knowledge transfer from the parent corporation to subsidiaries when there are differences in the national culture of the parent corporation and the subsidiary. Transferring knowledge can be especially difficult when the source and recipient do not share common beliefs, assumptions and cultural norms. Therefore, this study examines how trust, cultural alignment, and openness to diversity influence the effectiveness of knowledge transfer from the HQ to the employees in the subsidiary.
Design/methodology/approach
Specifically, the study examines knowledge transfer between the headquarters of a multinational corporation in Norway and its Vietnamese subsidiaries, making use of a survey administered to all 70 employees in the Vietnamese subsidiaries.
Findings
The results show that individual's trust of the HQ and their openness to diversity are key factors influencing local employees' ability to learn and obtain knowledge from foreign HQ. The extent to which there is alignment between the organization's corporate culture and the individual's cultural values, on the other hand, appear to make little difference to knowledge transfer from the HQ.
Practical implications
This paper contributes to the literature in cross border knowledge transfer, showing that due to geographical distance or cultural differences between the HQ and the subsidiary, the cultivation of trust and openness to diversity on the part of local employees is critical for knowledge transfer.
Originality/value
The paper also contributes by examining knowledge transfer in an international context.

In any time and space and under any circumstance, we find peasants are never passive actors in their livelihoods and rural development. Instead, they always create space for manoeuvre in order to make changes. This chapter analyses the innovative actions taken by the majority of rural inhabitants in rural areas during the overwhelming modernization process, so as to affirm that peasants are the main actors of rural development. It is they who have shaped the transformation of rural societies and the history. Through the analysis, this chapter concludes that rural development is not an objective, a blueprint nor a design. It is not the to-be-developed rear field in modernization. It is not the babysitter for cities, nor a rehearsal place for bureaucrats to testify their random thoughts. Rural development is what peasants do. The path they have chosen reveals scenery so different from modernization. If we regard development as a social change, or a cross with influential meanings, we could understand rural development as peasants’ victories over their predicament. Villages accommodate not only peasants, but without peasants villages would surely vanish. In this sense, the most important part in rural development or rural change is peasants – their conditions and their feelings.
