Abstract
Purpose
This study examines the interdependent relationships between green supply chain management (GSCM), carbon neutrality capability (CNC), digital transformation (DT) and firm performance (FP) among enterprises listed on the Chinese stock market. The primary objective is to provide a scholarly examination that may help these organisations to enhance their GSCM practices significantly.
Design/methodology/approach
Drawing on data from mainland Chinese publicly listed firms over the period from 2014 to 2021, this study posits and methodically evaluates four hypotheses: (1) GSCM practices are positively associated with an increase in CNC; (2) GSCM practices have a beneficial impact on FP; (3) DT moderates the GSCM–FP relationship and (4) CNC mediates the effect of GSCM on FP.
Findings
Contrary to initial assumptions, the findings suggest that GSCM practices may initially have a negative impact on FP. However, a concerted focus on CNC has the potential to convert this negative trajectory into a positive influence on FP. The findings further identify that DT has a significant moderating effect on the GSCM–FP relationship.
Originality/value
The findings of this study enrich the academic discourse concerning the symbiotic effects of GSCM, CNC and DT on FP. By systematically analysing these dynamics, the study underscores the critical importance of CNC and DT in the successful application of GSCM practices, thus offering valuable contributions to the literature on sustainable corporate operations.

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to examine the role of school discipline in achieving academic performance. The study aims to clarify the role of permissive vis-à-vis authoritative teaching styles with an overarching hypothesis that better discipline leads to better academic performance. The authors also probe whether uniformed students have better discipline.
Design/methodology/approach
The authors analyse Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s Programme for International Student Assessment data on school discipline dimensions: students listening well, noise levels, teacher waiting time, students working well, class start time. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) with post hoc analysis on five geographic groups established by Baumann and Winzar (2016) was applied to test for geographic differences (Europe, Americas, Far East Asia, Rest of Asia, Anglo-Saxon cluster) in school discipline. ANOVA was further used to test for school discipline and academic performance. Third, t-tests on five discipline dimensions were run to test for differences between students who wear uniforms and those who do not.
Findings
The results demonstrate differences in school discipline across five geographic clusters, with East Asia leading the way. The authors demonstrate significant differences in discipline for low, medium and high performing students. Peak-performing students have the highest level of discipline. Students wearing a uniform listen better with lower teacher waiting times.
Originality/value
Students peak perform when teachers create a disciplined atmosphere where students listen to teachers, where noise levels in the classroom are low and they do not have to wait to start class and teach. Good discipline allows students to work well and this ultimately leads to better academic performance. Uniforms contribute to better discipline in everyday school operations. The findings support that in general, implementing school uniforms at schools might enhance discipline and allow for better learning. The authors recommend keeping uniforms where they are already used and to consider introducing uniforms where they are not yet common.

Abstract
Purpose
Taking the COVID-19 as the background, this study aims to investigate the direct influencing factors regarding knowledge sharing behavior (KSB) on new media platforms and discuss how the characteristics of the users could enhance the KSB through moderation effect, and provide empirical evidences.
Design/methodology/approach
Based on the social exchange theory and after the text analysis of the data collected from the Tiktok platform in 2020, this paper uses the quantitative method to evaluate the factors influence KSB on short video social platform during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Findings
KSB on new media platform could be enhanced by richer knowledge content of the video posted and the attribute of the platform users directly. Platform users could affect the trustworthiness of the knowledge shared, thus influence the knowledge sharing. On the early stage of the COVID-19, the richer content of the knowledge released by users could effectively enhance the KSB. On the early stage of the emergency events, the official users could play a significant role on KS. During the mitigation stage of COVID-19, the KSB of the knowledge shared by unofficial users with richer content could be enhanced and the moderation effect is relatively stronger.
Originality/value
The research extends the social exchange theory to a disaster management context. The authors provide an effective reference for future governments to effectively cope with the epidemic and spread public knowledge in an emergency response context. By analyzing the influence of knowledge content and influencer characteristics, it could help the social media platform to improve content management and optimize resource allocation.

Design/methodology/approach
A numerical model and method for solving the physics-based model, an ambipolar diffusion equation-based model, of an IGBT is proposed.
Findings
The results of the proposed model are very close to the tested ones.
Originality/value
A mathematical model for an IGBT considering all free-carrier injection conditions is introduced, and a numerical solution methodology is proposed.

Purpose
The practice of facility management (FM) has been evolving with the rapid development of pervasive sensing technologies (PSTs) such as sensors, automatic identification (auto-ID), laser scanning and photogrammetry. Despite the proliferation of research on the use of PSTs for FM, a comprehensive review of such research is missing from the literature. This study aims to cover the knowledge void by examining the status quo and challenges of the selected PSTs with a focus on FM.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper reviewed 204 journal papers recounting cases of using PSTs for FM. The reviewed papers were extracted from Elsevier Scopus database using the advanced search.
Findings
Findings of this study revealed that PSTs and FM applications form a many-to-many mapping, i.e. one PST could facilitate many FM applications, and one application can also be supported by various PSTs. It is also found that energy modeling and management is the most referred purpose in FM to adopt PSTs, while space management, albeit important, received the least attention. Five challenges are identified, which include high investment on PSTs, data storage problem, absence of proper data exchange protocols for data interoperability, a lack of mature data processing methods for data utilization and privacy of users.
Originality/value
This paper paints a full picture of PSTs adoption for FM. It pinpoints the promising explorations for tackling the key challenges to future development.

Purpose
The wavelet neural network (WNN) has the drawbacks of slow convergence speed and easy falling into local optima in data prediction. Although the artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm has strong global optimization ability and fast convergence speed, it also has the drawbacks of slow speed while finding the optimal solution and weak optimization ability in the later stage.
Design/methodology/approach
This article uses an ABC algorithm to optimize the WNN and establishes an ABC-WNN analysis model. Based on the example of the Jinan Yuhan underground tunnel project, the deformation of the surrounding rock of the double-arch tunnel crossing the fault fracture zone is predicted and analyzed, and the analysis results are compared with the actual detection amount.
Findings
The comparison results show that the predicted values of the ABC-WNN model have a high degree of fitting with the actual engineering data, with a maximum relative error of only 4.73%. On this basis, the results show that the statistical features of ABC-WNN are the lowest, with the errors at 0.566 and 0.573, compared with the single back propagation (BP) neural network model and WNN model. Therefore, it can be derived that the ABC-WNN model has higher prediction accuracy, better computational stability and faster convergence speed for deformation.
Originality/value
This article uses firstly the ABC-WNN for the deformation analysis of double-arch tunnels. This attempt laid the foundation for artificial intelligence prediction in deformation analysis of multi-arch tunnels and small clearance tunnels. It can provide a new and effective way for deformation prediction in similar projects.

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to make an overview of 474 publications and 512 patents of FTL from 1987 to 2020 in order to provide a conclusive and comprehensive analysis for researchers in this field, as well as a preliminary knowledge of FTL for interested researchers.
Design/methodology/approach
Firstly, the FTL algorithms are classified and its functions are introduced in detail. Secondly, the structures of the publications are analyzed in terms of the fundamental information and the publication of the most productive countries/regions, institutions and authors. After that, co-citation networks of institutions, authors and papers illustrated by VOS Viewer are given to show the relationship among those and the most influential of them is further analyzed. Then, the characteristics of the patent are analyzed based on the basic information and classification of the patent and the most productive inventors. In order to obtain research hotspots and trends in this field, the time-line review and citation burst detection of keywords carried out by Cite Space are made to be visual. Finally, based on the above analysis, it draws some other important conclusions and the development trend of this field.
Findings
The research on FTL algorithm is still the top priority in the future, and how to improve the performance of SSD in the era of big data is one of the research hotspots.
Research limitations/implications
This paper makes a comprehensive analysis of FTL with the method of bibliometrics, and it is valuable for researchers can quickly grasp the hotspots in this area.
Originality/value
This article draws the structural characteristics of the publications in this field and summarizes the research hotspots and trends in this field in recent years, aiming to inspire new ideas for researchers.

Purpose
Considering two types of subsidies for producers (supplier and manufacturer) and one for consumers based on product greenness and sales quantity, this study aims to formulate optimal supply chain green innovation and subsidy strategies, and to achieve this goal with the support of information systems.
Design/methodology/approach
This study introduces a composite green-product supply chain where suppliers focus on green innovation for component greenness and manufacturers focus on green innovation for manufacturing process greenness. Game theory modeling is applied to investigate the differences of product greenness, supply chain members’ profit and social welfare under different government subsidy strategies.
Findings
Increasing the unit greenness subsidy coefficient can boost product greenness and supply chain members’ profits, but does not always raise social welfare. When the government exclusively offers subsidies to producers, subsidies should be allocated to suppliers when there is a significant disparity in supply chain green innovation costs. Conversely, it is more beneficial to subsidize manufacturers. Consumer subsidies have the potential to enhance both environmental and economic performance in the supply chain compared with producer-exclusive subsidies, but may not always maximize social welfare when supply chain members have low unit costs associated with green innovation.
Originality/value
This study examines the optimal decisions for green supply chain innovation and government subsidy strategies. Supply chain members and the government can use the information system to collect and evaluate the cost of upstream and downstream green innovation, and then develop reasonable collaborative green innovation and subsidy strategies.

The purpose of the paper is to predict the residual life of liquid-storage tank to ensure safety and long-term service life of the structure.
Design/methodology/approach
The paper carried out the stress analysis of the wall plate and bottom plate of the liquid-storage tank, and the influence of circumferential stress on the tank is considered. On the other hand, considering the influence of the tank wall surface on the tank life, based on the Paris law, the surface processing coefficient and surface roughness coefficient are introduced to improve the Paris law.
Findings
The effectiveness of the improved model is verified by comparing with theoretical and experimental data, which provide a new method for the prediction of the remaining service life of the tank. Combined with the fatigue crack data in the test report and the calculated circumferential stress, the residual life of the storage tank is predicted.
Originality/value
The improved model provides a new method for the prediction of the remaining service life of the tank.

Purpose
With the rapid development of the pipeline transportation and exploitation of mineral resources, it is urgent requirement for the high-performance polymer matrix composites with low friction and wear to meet the needs of solid material transportation. This paper aims to prepare high-performance ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) matrix composites and investigate the effect of service condition on frictional behavior for composite.
Design/methodology/approach
In this study, UHMWPE matrix composites with different content of MoS2 were prepared and the tribological performance of the GCr15/composites friction pair in various sliding speeds (0.025–0.125 m/s) under dry friction conditions were studied by ball-on-disk tribology experiments.
Findings
Results show that the frictional behavior was shown to be sensitive to MoS2 concentration and sliding velocity. As the MoS2 content is 2 Wt.%, composites presented the best overall tribological performance. Besides, the friction coefficient fluctuates around 0.21 from 0.025 to 0.125 m/s sliding speed, while the wear rate increases gradually. Scanning electron microscopy images, energy-dispersive spectroscopy and Raman Spectrum analysis present that the main wear mechanisms were abrasive and fatigue wear.
Originality/value
The knowledge obtained herein will facilitate the design of UHMWPE matrix composites with promising self-lubrication performances which used in slag transport engineering field.
