Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to define the process of human motion design in hierarchical space by cybernetic technology using mathematical symbol construction of hierarchical systems (HSs) and realize the technology in tasks of biomechanical motion design.
Design/methodology/approach
Suggested HS technology allows definition of human motion on level space. HS are presented by their two main symbol images, i.e. mathematical symbol construction and graphic image. Those images connect all the strata of HS, show the acts of systems multiplying (learning) and uniting (design), the place of man in hierarchical space and human activity on higher levels. The design&control tasks are solved by HS coordinator.
Findings
The paper proves that HS technology presented allows design&control tasks of human motion in hierarchical space to be solved. Coherence of man's construction deformations and correspondent changes of his interactions with environment elements (his motion) is controlled by HS coordinator. Coordinator design tasks are formulated. The possibility of computer program description in frames of the proposed technology is revealed.
Practical implications
The technology presented gives an instrument for the design&control of different kinds of human motion in hierarchical space, predicts connected motion dynamics on different levels. It is applied in design tasks of biomechanical motion.
Originality/value
The method (technology) presented meets all the requirements of practical cybernetic (design&control) tasks. It brings new light to theory and practice of human motion design, presents human motion as hierarchical process in the level space, allows motion design&control task to be solved as coordination task of HS coordinator.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of consumer sustainability attitudes and quick service restaurants (QSRs) practices along with the willingness of consumers to pay a premium for sustainability efforts.
Design/methodology/approach
A random sample of QSR customers in Germany resulted in 428 completed surveys. First, common factor analysis was conducted to assess the summated scales related to the sustainable behavior of customers, the importance attached by them to the different dimensions of sustainability and the extent to which customers perceive that QSR implement such practices. Second, the effect of these summated scales on the willingness to pay a premium (WTPP) for sustainability practices were assessed by means of a logistic regression.
Findings
The findings indicated that WTPP for sustainability efforts is primarily driven by internal beliefs and behaviors of consumers themselves rather than actions by QSR firms. Furthermore, when comparing five major QSRs, QSR brands did not appear to create a strong point of differentiation in their sustainability practices in the minds of frequent QSR consumers in the context of this study.
Practical implications
Implications of these results suggest that a growing number of consumers place high importance on sustainability and engage in personal sustainability practices that impact behaviors such as QSR selection and a WTPP for QSR brands and products that are perceived as implementing sustainable practices.
Originality/value
This paper addresses a gap by assessing drivers of willingness of QSR customers to pay a premium for sustainable practices and if QSR brands sustainability practices differ in the minds of consumers.

Purpose
This paper explores the entrepreneurial transformation of Bangtan Sonyeondan or Bangtan Boys (BTS), tracing their journey from initiation through expansion. Despite the global prominence of their music, dance and outreach, many aspects of BTS’s meteoric rise remain underexplored. This study aims to illuminate the strategic and organizational developments that have propelled their unprecedented growth in the global media landscape.
Design/methodology/approach
Using case study research methods, this paper uses a multimodal approach to examine BTS’s intricate interactions with market dynamics and fan engagement comprehensively. Using entrepreneurial innovation as the overarching theoretical framework, the authors categorize BTS’s transformational processes into drivers, practices and outcomes, thereby elucidating the strategies used to navigate key challenges and pivotal moments in their worldwide ascent.
Findings
The BTS organization exhibits a distinct entrepreneurial orientation and transformation process across its phases of initiation, development, growth and expansion. The authors identify specific drivers, practices and outcomes along with strategic vision, actionable practices and measurable performance outcomes at each stage.
Research limitations/implications
While this study draws valuable parallels between BTS’s trajectory and established growth models, it recognizes the limitations inherent in a single-case study approach. The findings highlight the critical role of entrepreneurial leadership in the entertainment industry and suggest further exploration into the universal applicability of these models across different genres and cultural contexts within the music industry.
Practical implications
This paper underscores the importance of entrepreneurial innovation within entertainment organizations. The conceptual framework provided can assist managers in formulating strategies and policies for the growth and transformation of similar entities.
Social implications
BTS’s case demonstrates how engaging a global audience with culturally specific content and the universal appeal of youthful energy can be transformative. This engagement is facilitated through effective use of music, dance and dynamic interactions on social media.
Originality/value
By analyzing BTS from an entrepreneurial leadership perspective, this study offers unique insights by examining their internal motivations and managerial practices, as well as the external outcomes, spanning from 2010 to 2023.

Abstract
Purpose
In this study, to investigate tourist mobility (i.e. hotel visits) during the COVID-19 pandemic, the authors developed three objectives with reference to protection motivation theory: (1) to examine changes in travel distances in the USA before and during the pandemic, (2) to identify distinct travel patterns across different regions during the pandemic; and (3) to explore threat- and coping-related factors influencing tourist mobility.
Design/methodology/approach
The authors used two primary sources of data. First, smartphone data from SafeGraph provided hotel-specific variables (e.g. location and visitor counts) and travel distances for 63,610 hotels in the USA. Second, state-level data representing various factors associated with travel distance were obtained from COVID-19 Data Hub and the US Census Bureau. The authors analyzed changes in travel distances over time at the state and regional levels and investigated clinical, policy and demographic factors associated with such changes.
Findings
The findings reveal actual travel movements and intraregional variances across different stages of the pandemic, as well as the roles of health-related policies and other externalities in shaping travel patterns amid public health risks.
Originality/value
To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is the first to empirically examine changes in travel distances to hotels as destinations using smartphone data along with state-level data on COVID-19 and demographics. The findings suggest that tourism enterprises and stakeholders can proactively adapt their strategies by considering threat appraisals and coping mechanisms, both of which are influenced by externalities such as health-related policies.

The weapon system of The Navy is the small quantity producing system on multiple kinds. It is consisted of various equipment and the subordinate parts of those which can repair the damaged part. The operating procedure concerning warship's repair parts managed under these systems is as follows. Firstly, if demand of repair parts occurs from warship which is the operating unit of weapon, then the Fleet(the repair & supply support battalion) is in charge of dealing with these requests. If certain request from warship is beyond the battalion's capability, it is delivered directly to the Logistic Command. In short, the repair and supply support system of repair parts can be described as the multi-level support system. The various theoretical researches on inventory management of Navy's repair parts and simulation study that reflects reality in detail have been carried out simultaneously. However, the majority of existing research has been conducted on aircraft and tank's repairable items, in that, the studies is woefully deficient in the area concerning Navy's inventory management. For that reason, this paper firstly constructs the model of consumable items that is frequently damaged reflecting characteristics of navy's repair parts inventory management using ARENA simulation. After that, this paper is trying to propose methodology to analyze optimal inventory level of each supply unit through OptQuest, the optimization program of ARENA simulation.

Through exploratory research, the paper addresses aspects for successful collaboration in cultural heritage digitisation in East Asia.
Findings
The paper indicates the difference in collaboration of cultural heritage digitisation between regions such as Europe and the unique situation in East Asia.
Social implications
If collaboration between the countries of East Asia was implemented then such a community could deal with the issues of cultural heritage by having a standard scheme or policy.
Originality/value
There has been little literature published on East Asian cultural heritage initiatives, particularly in the area of digitisation and digital preservation.

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to identify security technologies that are essential in making home network systems secure and to describe specialized security mechanisms for the home network and the relationships among them.
Design/methodology/approach
The research model is designed to support three functions: authentication, authorization, and security policy. Authentication is tested in several methodologies such as id/pw, certificate, or bio; authorization is tested using RBAC methodologies; and security policy is specified using newly‐designed script language, such as xHDL.
Findings
The findings for “authentication” suggest that home network users can access services conveniently and securely. In addition, the findings for “security policy” suggest that security policy for home network requires specialized rather than general specification.
Practical implications
The paper identifies three security functions essential for home network: authentication that supports most existing authentication mechanisms, so as to maximize user accessibility; authorization that is middleware‐independent and beyond the physical transport layer; and security policy optimized for the home network environment.
Originality/value
The paper focuses on an implementation‐based security model for the home network. Though interest and research in home network security are increasing, only limited authentication applications have been adopted in real deployment up to now. This paper introduces an integrated security model and emphasizes safety and convenience so as to promote reliability in home network services.

The purpose is to bring together all bibliographic references of the published literature on electronic books (e‐books) and related technologies in one source so that it will save time for others in conducting literature searches and reviewing the developments.
Design/methodology/approach
The information included in this bibliography is collected systematically from all the published sources in the world such as journal articles, conference papers, conference proceedings, books, reports and PhD theses on e‐books until the last quarter of 2004. Mainly it covers e‐books, e‐books publishing, the impact of e‐books on different types of users, e‐book publishing techniques and trends, e‐book user interfaces and other technologies related to e‐publications.
Findings
As computer usage continues to grow exponentially, the desire of users to use electronic publications (e‐publications) has also increased tremendously. This has led to the publication of materials in electronic form as e‐publications on both CD‐ROMs and web. The e‐book is one of the several forms of e‐publications and its popularity has been growing steadily for the past decade.
Originality/value
This bibliography will be useful to all researchers conducting research in any areas related to e‐books and e‐book publishing.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to investigate how brand identity is co-created, with a specific focus on how employees contributed to the process in a five-star hotel setting. The focus of this study is on understanding how two hotels planned and executed their brand identity strategy simultaneously, differentiating one from the other and how employees actively participated in this process.
Design/methodology/approach
A longitudinal case study approach was adopted, centred on building the identity of two luxury hotels owned by a single company in Seoul, Korea. Various organizational documents were collected and analyzed to understand the brand identity of the hotels and how brand co-creation has been implemented. In addition, semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted with 42 employees to understand the brand co-creation process from their perspective.
Findings
The brand co-creation process of the hotels was conducted simultaneously and evolved over the following four phases, with employees’ roles varying in each phase, namely, establishing a clear brand identity strategy; designing and selecting sensory identity; aligning organizational identity; and delivering brand identity through external communication. Employees that participated in brand co-creation enhanced their brand knowledge, developed emotional bonds with the brand and were motivated to deliver the brand identity. Furthermore, those that immersed themselves in the new brand identities were able to enable positive guest perceptions towards the brand image, which consequently enhanced employees’ pride in their work.
Research limitations/implications
This research advances the brand management literature in defining branding and brand identity elements, as well as emphasizing the importance of consistent branding. In addition, the current study expands the scope of internal branding, highlighting the process of brand co-creation and the role of employees as active participants. Moreover, it reveals that employees’ participation enhances not only their brand knowledge but also their emotional bonds with the brand. The proposed conceptual framework demonstrates the flow of branding elements, brand identity elements and the “infinite loop” of employee participation in brand co-creation.
Originality/value
The case study approach adopted here enables an in-depth investigation of employee participation in brand co-creation, including their different roles and activities in the process; a phenomenon that has not been adequately explored in previous research.
