Abstract
Purpose
Few studies have explored how to foster green customer citizenship behavior. Therefore, the aim of this study was to understand the factors influencing green customer citizenship behavior in a restaurant context.
Design/methodology/approach
This study proposes a conceptual model, based on previous studies, hypothesizing that green attributes transparency engenders green brand image and green trust, which together facilitate green customer citizenship behavior. The authors used structural equations modeling with data collected from 312 consumers in Taiwan to do the analysis.
Findings
The findings indicate that green attributes transparency plays a strong role in determining green brand image and green trust, which enhance green customer citizenship behavior. Managerial implications to aid businesses in developing strategies to enhance their ability to foster green citizenship behavior among its consumers for competitive advantage is also provided, together with an outline of the limitations of the study.
Originality/value
This study used the concept of stimulus–organism–response to test the stimuli of green attributes transparency to enhance customer citizenship behavior mediated by green brand image and green trust. This study makes two theoretical contributions. First, this study extended the concept of attributes transparency, brand image, trust and customer citizenship behavior to a green context. The authors developed a research framework and confirmed that green attributes transparency facilitate green brand image and green trust, which contribute to green customer citizenship behavior. Second, there is no prior study exploring the relationship between green attributes transparency, green brand image, green trust and green customer citizenship behavior. The empirical support for the model developed in this study is based on empirical data of Taiwan restaurant consumers.

Purpose
This study aims to offer a comprehensive exploration of the potential and challenges associated with sensor fusion-based virtual reality (VR) applications in the context of enhanced physical training. The main objective is to identify key advancements in sensor fusion technology, evaluate its application in VR systems and understand its impact on physical training.
Design/methodology/approach
The research initiates by providing context to the physical training environment in today’s technology-driven world, followed by an in-depth overview of VR. This overview includes a concise discussion on the advancements in sensor fusion technology and its application in VR systems for physical training. A systematic review of literature then follows, examining VR’s application in various facets of physical training: from exercise, skill development and technique enhancement to injury prevention, rehabilitation and psychological preparation.
Findings
Sensor fusion-based VR presents tangible advantages in the sphere of physical training, offering immersive experiences that could redefine traditional training methodologies. While the advantages are evident in domains such as exercise optimization, skill acquisition and mental preparation, challenges persist. The current research suggests there is a need for further studies to address these limitations to fully harness VR’s potential in physical training.
Originality/value
The integration of sensor fusion technology with VR in the domain of physical training remains a rapidly evolving field. Highlighting the advancements and challenges, this review makes a significant contribution by addressing gaps in knowledge and offering directions for future research.

Purpose
This systematic review, following preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analysis guidelines, rigorously investigates the emergent role of virtual reality (VR) technology in human movement training. The purpose of this study is to explore the effectiveness and evolution of VR in enhancing movement training experiences.
Design/methodology/approach
Acknowledging its pivotal role in diverse applications, such as sports and rehabilitation, human movement training is currently experiencing accelerated evolution, facilitated by the proliferation of wearable devices and mobile applications. This review conducted an exhaustive search across five different electronic databases, such as Web of Science, PubMed and ProQuest, resulting in the selection of 69 eligible articles published within the past five years. It also integrates 40 studies into a narrative summary, categorized based on the level of immersion offered by respective VR systems.
Findings
Enhanced immersion in VR potentially augments the effectiveness of movement training by engendering more realistic and captivating experiences for users. The immersive and interactive environments provided by VR technology enable tailored training experiences accompanied by precise, objective feedback. This review highlights the benefits of VR in human movement training and its potential to revolutionize the way training is conducted.
Originality/value
This systematic review contributes significantly to the existing literature by providing a comprehensive examination of the efficacy and evolution of VR in human movement training. By organizing the findings based on the level of immersion offered by VR systems, it provides valuable insights into the importance of immersion in enhancing training outcomes. In addition, this study identifies the need for future research focusing on the impacts of VR on learning and performance, as well as strategies to optimize its effectiveness and improve accessibility.

Abstract
Purpose
Following the upheavals of the revolutionary era, the People's Republic of China's consumer culture is somewhat over 20 years old. This research aims at discovering and thus better understanding what Chinese consumers value most among their possessions. In turn, this finding should help better understand the contemporary Chinese culture.
Design/methodology/approach
The general research approach utilized in this effort is qualitative. All data were collected through at‐home, in‐depth personal interviews, following established guidelines outlined by Lincoln and Guba, and Wallendorf and Belk. A snowball sampling resulted in the participation of 20 rural and 20 urban households.
Findings
Participants' demographic profile ended up matching well the national profile in terms of income, and the gender and age make‐up of the rural and urban samples were not significantly different. Four categories emerged to comprehensively represent all the favorite products identified by the participants: entertainment, functional, hedonic, and mementos. In addition, a numerically significant number of participants could neither think of a favorite product nor possess one. As developed in the paper, conventional typologies, such as Hofstede and Triandis' collectivism‐individualism do not account well for the results observed in this study. Rather, the study turns towards Lu's research and suggestion that using instruments developed by Western cultures suffer from methodological defects when applied to Chinese behaviors. This research then defines the Yi, a Confucian value related to benevolence, morality, righteousness, and the Li, a Mohist/Legalist value related to utilitarianism and profit, and suggests that the two better help understand the findings and support observations.
Research limitations/implications
The nature of qualitative research clearly limits the generalization of its findings, and therefore to offer more definitive results, future efforts would have to consider other methods. Also, and while great care is taken to ensure the validity of the data collection process, there is always the possibility that some respondents may not have been as candid or truthful as would be hoped. However, and altogether, findings from this research do match well what public media have often been reporting, and what frequent casual observations point out.
Practical implications
China's contemporary culture is rapidly changing, somehow breaking away from traditions, yet retaining core values and reshaping them with modern, sometimes alien inputs. This research clearly indicates what motivates the younger generations, raised in a nation governed by an all‐controlling Communist party that orchestrates an openly capitalistic, materialistic societal development. Such apparent contradictions, the result of “Socialism with Chinese Characteristics,” may be puzzling to some in the Western world but are not so with today's Chinese consumers.
Originality/value
This research is unique in its topic and research approach, given that it deals with Chinese consumers, the largest block of consumers in the world. It offers a perspective, not yet considered within the marketing and consumer research literature, that seems to explain well what is observed.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to present a sliding mode controller design method for a class of uncertain nonlinear systems with uncertainties and to demonstrate a recursive derivative estimation procedure for the derivatives of system outputs.
Design/methodology/approach
A recursive derivative estimation procedure for the derivatives of system outputs is demonstrated. Radial basis function (RBF) neural networks are used to approximate the uncertainties and filters are introduced to estimate the derivatives of system outputs step‐by‐step. The adaptive tuning rules of RBF neural network weight matrices are derived by the Lyapunov stability theorem, which guarantees filter errors and network weight errors are bounded and exponentially converge to a neighborhood of the origin globally. The sliding mode controller is designed based on the estimation for the derivatives of system outputs such that the sliding surface converges to zero and the system control input is bounded.
Findings
The sliding mode controller can make the system output track the desired output with arbitrarily small tracking error. The filter errors and network weight estimation errors can be made arbitrarily small, and all the system signals are bounded. The proposed method does not need the supper bounds of the unmatched uncertainties and their any order derivatives.
Research limitations/implications
The system output and uncertainties are required to be sufficiently smooth in the proposed method. In practice, this condition is always satisfied generally.
Practical implications
This paper contains very useful advice for researchers on the sliding mode control and the use of neural networks.
Originality/value
The paper presents a new sliding mode controller design method based on recursive derivative estimation of system outputs using neural networks. The paper is aimed at theoretical researchers, especially those who have interest in sliding mode control, neural networks, adaptive techniques, and recursive estimation.

Purpose
As a clean and renewable energy source, wind energy will become one of the main sources of new energy supply in the future. Relying on the stable and strong wind resources at sea, wind energy has great potential to become the primary energy. As a critical part of the wind turbine, the gearbox of a wind turbine often bears a large external load. Especially at sea, due to the effects of ocean corrosion, waves and wind, the burden of the wind turbine gearbox is greater, which brings great challenges to its reliability analysis. This study aims to systematically review the reliability research in wind turbine gearboxes and guide future research directions and challenges.
Design/methodology/approach
This study systematically reviews some design requirements and reliability analysis methods for wind turbine gearboxes. Then, it summarizes previous studies on wind load uncertainty modeling methods, including the processing of wind measurement data and the summary of three different classifications of random wind speed prediction models. Finally, existing reliability analysis studies on two major parts of the gearbox are described and summarized.
Findings
First, the basic knowledge of wind turbine gearboxes and their reliability analysis is introduced. The requirements and reliability analysis methods of wind turbine gearboxes are explained. Then, the processing methods of wind measurement data and three different random wind speed prediction models are described in detail. Furthermore, existing reliability analysis studies on two common parts of wind turbine gearboxes, gears and bearings, are summarized and classified, including a summary of bearing failure modes. Finally, three possible future research directions for wind turbine gearbox reliability analysis are discussed, namely, reliability research under the influence of multiple factors on gears, damage indicators of bearing failure modes and quantitative evaluation criteria for the overall dynamic characteristics of offshore wind turbine gearboxes and a summary is also given.
Originality/value
This paper aims to systematically introduce the relevant contents of wind turbine gearboxes and their reliability analysis. The contents of wind speed data processing, predictive modeling and reliability analysis of major components are also comprehensively reviewed, including the classification and principle introduction of these contents.

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to improve the conductivity and processability of polyaniline (PANI).
Design/methodology/approach
The study opted for synthesis of the conductive PANI/polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) composite film, co-doped with 5-sulphosalicylic acid and sulphuric acid. Using an electrochemical method, a small amount of silver (Ag) was electrodeposited on the film. The PVA/PANI and PVA/PANI/Ag composite films were characterised by scanning electron microscope, X-ray diffraction and infrared. The composite deposition mechanism of the composite film was investigated by cyclic voltammetry for the first time.
Findings
The conductivity of the optimum PVA/PANI composite film reached 21.2 S · cm−1.Then, a small amount of Ag was deposited on the PVA/PANI film, and the conductivity significantly increased by 1250 S · cm−1. Through appropriate degree of stretching, the conductivity of the films was enhanced. The results indicate that uniform PVA/PANI fibres and dendritic Ag can combine to form complete three-dimensional conductive networks that exhibit better conductivity and mechanical properties. The cyclic voltammetry curves reveal that the dedoping potential of PANI was more negative than the reduction potential of Ag. Therefore, the procedure for the deposition of Ag on the PANI/PVA composite film cannot decrease the conductivity.
Practical implications
This paper for the first time described and revealed the effective and practical synthesis approach and composite mechanism to prepare multi-types metal-conductive polymer composites and improve the conductivity of a conductive polymer with a less expense and one-step electrochemical method.
Originality/value
This paper first explored galvanostatic oxidation to synthesise a PANI composite film to resolve the processability and conductivity of PANI by co-doped with mixed acids and deposited Ag on film. Furthermore, for the first time, the composite mechanism of metal and conductive polymer was studied.

Purpose
This study aims to create an idea and a framework to enhance customer stickiness and improve transformation efficiency flow of tourism products from online to offline platforms through the application of personalized recommendation technology.
Design/methodology/approach
Studies on an overview of progress in current personalized recommendation research, business scenario analysis of online tourism and some possible logical limitations discussion are required for improvement. This study clarifies concepts including online tourism user behavior and generated data, user preference themes and spaces, user models and image and user-product (two-dimensional matrix, etc.). The author then creates a user portrait based on behavior data convergence to locate the user's role from both horizontal and vertical dimensions and also clear the logical levels and associations among them, verifying the similarity in measurement and calculation and optimizing the implementation of the personalized recommendation program under online tourism business scenarios.
Findings
By providing a framework design about personalized recommendations of online tourism including a flow from data collection to a personalized recommendation algorithm selection, logical analysis is established while the corresponding personalization algorithm is improved.
Originality/value
This study show a logical shift of personalized recommendations in online tourism management from focusing on the simple collection of travel information and the logical speculation of tourism products to focusing on the individual behavior of potential travelers.

Abstract
Purpose
This research aims to construct an Evaluation Scale for Vocational Education Internships (ESVEI) tailored to assess the vocational educational internship experiences from the perspectives of vocational students. It also seeks to investigate the influence of certain factors – such as gender, family background, educational attainment, chosen major and the duration of the internship – on the assessment of these internships.
Design/methodology/approach
In the development of ESVEI, a combination of methods was employed, including literature analysis, item refinement, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, multiple group analysis and reliability analysis. A total of 1,114 vocational students who had finished their internships completed questionnaires formulated based on ESVEI.
Findings
A two-dimensional evaluation tool called the ESVEI, consisting of the “Internship Content Evaluation” (ICE) and “Internship Supervisor Evaluation” (ISE) with seven items, has been created. Based on this, the corresponding questionnaires’ results indicate that female respondents, those from urban areas and those in the medical and nursing fields generally rated their internships more favorably compared to their male, rural and engineering and manufacturing counterparts. Additionally, when the internships last less than six months, the longer the internship, the more favorable evaluations.
Research limitations/implications
Because of the limited number of respondents, the research results may lack generalizability. Therefore, researchers are encouraged to test the proposed evaluation scale further.
Practical implications
The scale developed in this study serves as a tangible instrument for assessing the vocational education internship experiences of vocational students. Furthermore, this analysis can provide valuable insights for identifying areas that require further growth and improvement based on the dimensions of internship content and the trainers involved.
Originality/value
This is one of the first studies to develop an evaluation scale for vocational education internships in China, which not only clarifies the evaluation dimensions of internships but also forms a tool for future research.

Purpose
The reviews submitted by users are the foundation of user-generated content (UGC) platforms. However, the rapid growth of users brings the problems of information overload and spotty content, which makes it necessary for UGC platforms to screen out reviews that are really helpful to users. The authors put forward in this paper the factors influencing review helpfulness voting from the perspective of review characteristics and reviewer characteristics.
Design/methodology/approach
This study uses 8,953 reviews from 20 movies listed on Douban.com with variables focusing on review characteristics and reviewer characteristics that affect review helpfulness. To verify the six hypotheses proposed in the study, Stata 14 was used to perform tobit regression.
Findings
Findings show that review helpfulness is significantly influenced by the length, valence, timeliness and deviation rating of the reviews. The results also underlie that a review submitted by a reviewer who has more followers and experience is more affected by review characteristics.
Originality/value
Previous literature has discussed the factors that affect the helpfulness of reviews; however, the authors have established a new model that explores more comprehensive review characteristics and the moderating effect reviewer characteristics have on helpfulness. In this empirical research, the authors selected a UGC community in China as the research object. The UGC community may encourage users to write more helpful reviews by highlighting the characteristics of users. Users in return can use this to establish his/her image in the community. Future research can explore more variables related to users.
