Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to represent an empirical study of what role does structural empowerment play in the relationship between multi-stakeholder value co-creation (VCC) and the success of new product development (NPD).
Design/methodology/approach
The hypotheses developed in this paper are tested by using data from 243 manufacturing companies worldwide.
Findings
The results show that the VCC activities have significant positive effects on NPD success, and structural empowerment moderates the impact of VCC activities on NPD success, but the moderating effect is not significant for customer involvement.
Originality/value
This study contributes to the research of VCC and discusses the positive role of structural empowerment to enhance the impact of VCC activities on NPD success.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of rotational speed on the oil film stability of the hydrostatic rotary table having double rectangular oil pads. The oil film stability is evaluated based on the oil film stiffness under constant load condition and the displacement response amplitude of the oil film under disturbance load condition.
Design/methodology/approach
The oil film stability theoretical equations of the double rectangular oil cavity are deduced such as oil film stiffness, damping and dynamic equations. A simulation model is developed to analyze the relationship among oil film temperature, oil film pressure fields and oil film stability. The user-defined function programs are used to control the rotational speed, lubricant viscosity and oil film thickness during the simulation. In addition, an experimental rig is built to test the simulation results.
Findings
This study shows that oil film stability decreases with increasing rotational speed under constant load and disturbance load. The trend of oil film stability decreased slowly within 30 r/min, and then rapidly. However, since the hydrodynamic pressure effect, the decrease rate of stability is mitigated under constant load and high rotational speeds.
Originality/value
The conclusions can provide a theoretical basis for improving the oil film stability of machines with similar hydrostatic support structure.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to examine the effects of job crafting on the work engagement of tour leaders mediated by person-job fit and the meaningfulness of work.
Design/methodology/approach
Derived from a sample of 331 tour leaders in China, the data for this research were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling.
Findings
The findings revealed that job crafting increased tour leaders’ person-job fit and meaningfulness of work, which stimulated their work engagement. Tour leaders’ person-job fit also increased their work engagement and perceptions of the meaningfulness of work. Enhancing the work meaningfulness of tour leaders can significantly increase their work engagement. Person-job fit and meaningfulness of work had a significant mediating effect between job crafting and tour leaders’ work engagement.
Practical implications
Managers need to provide external conditions for tour leaders’ job crafting by expanding structural and social job resources and by creating more stimulating job environments. Managers can enhance tour leaders’ work engagement by shaping their work meaning and person-job fit.
Originality/value
First, this study empirically tested the effects of job crafting on tour leaders’ work engagement, thus directly addressed the lack of academic attention paid to this topic. Second, this study examines the mediating role of person-job fit and meaningfulness of work, with regard to tour leaders’ job crafting and work engagement, based on an integrative concept model.

Abstract
Purpose
The current study aims to identify work-related use of information and communication technologies after-hours (W_ICTs) from passive and active perspectives and examine mechanisms and different effects of information and communication technologies on employee innovation behavior.
Design/methodology/approach
Experience sampling method (ESM) was employed to capture dynamic within-person variance in daily-behaviors and daily-mood. In total, 92 employees completed an identical online survey each day for ten workdays.
Findings
The findings showed that the influence patterns and mechanisms of passive and active W_ICTs were utterly different. Passive W_ICTs was negatively associated with employee innovation behavior via emotional exhaustion, while active W_ICTs was positively associated with employee innovation behavior through perceived insider status. Furthermore, differential leadership significantly narrowed the positive relationship between passive W_ICTs and emotional exhaustion. However, differential leadership did not significantly moderate the relationship between active W_ICTs and perceived insider status.
Originality/value
This study is an important step forward in dividing W_ICTs into passive and active W_ICTs and discovers a dual path of two types of W_ICTs on employee innovation behavior. Findings of this study have heuristic value for future research.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to explore the impact of supply chain governance (SCG) on supply chain resilience (SCR) in China, as well as the mediating role of supply chain finance (SCF) and the moderating role of digital technology adoption (DTA).
Design/methodology/approach
Based on resource orchestration theory (ROT), this paper constructs a theoretical model to examine the influence of SCG on SCR. Employing data collected from 312 Chinese firms, multiple regression is conducted to test the theoretical hypotheses.
Findings
The results indicate that both relational governance (RG) and contractual governance (CG) significantly enhance SCR and SCF. In addition, SCF plays a mediating role in the relationship between SCG and SCR. The study also finds that DTA has a positive moderating effect on the relationship between SCG and SCF.
Originality/value
First, based on ROT, this paper clarifies the nuanced driving effects of RG and CG on SCR. Second, SCF is introduced as an intermediary process between SCG and SCR, which reveals the inner mechanisms between SCG and SCR. Moreover, this study contributes to investigating the contingent role of DTA in the relationship between SCG and SCF.

Abstract
Purpose
As live streaming becomes a widely used online sales mode, previously content-centred anchors are attempting to switch to e-commerce live streaming. The purpose of this research was to explore the mechanisms that prompt consumers to stay or leave after content anchors transfer to live e-commerce broadcasts. In addition, we explored the factors affecting consumption from the perspectives of anchors, consumers and the external environment.
Design/methodology/approach
We distributed questionnaires to a group of fans who had experienced the transition of content anchors to live streaming and received back 375 valid questionnaires. Using psychological contract theory, we constructed a theoretical model for the scenario in which content anchors transition to live e-commerce broadcasting and analysed the data using partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM).
Findings
The results show that circle culture, mainstream culture, initial trust and live streaming content all positively influenced consumers’ attitudes, whilst consumers’ past shopping experiences negatively influenced consumers’ attitudes. The personal charm of the content anchors did not have a significant effect on consumers’ attitudes. Additionally, we found that only anchors with a significant circle culture and good trust levels amongst fans were able to transition to live e-commerce streaming successfully.
Originality/value
This study extends the application of psychological contract theory to the field of e-commerce and describes the transformation of different types of psychological contracts. The paper’s conclusions provide a reference for decision-making and the implementation of transformation by content-based anchors to live streaming, helping them to coordinate their relationships with fans more effectively.

Purpose
This study aims to investigate whether auditors compromise their independence for economically important clients in family business settings.
Design/methodology/approach
The authors empirically examine the research question based on China for the years 2011 to 2020. The dependent variable is the auditors’ propensity to issue modified audit opinions, which is a proxy for auditor independence. The authors use relative client audit fees as a proxy for client importance. To address endogeneity issues in the selection of family firms, the authors use the two-stage least squares regression model and, subsequently, the propensity score matching and Hausman firm fixed effect modeling.
Findings
This study reveals that the propensity to issue modified audit opinions is positively correlated with client importance. Big-N auditors are more likely to issue modified audit opinions for their economically important family firm clients, whereas such evidence is not found for non-Big-N auditors. Results are consistent and robust to endogeneity test and sensitivity analysis.
Originality/value
This study enriches the literature on auditor independence and the effect of family firms’ ownership structure factors on audit reporting behavior for their economically important clients. Findings may prove useful for managers and practitioners interested in family business.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to present a holistic review of journal articles on value cocreation in the tourism and hospitality field. By distinguishing similarities and differences in the contexts of China and other regions, the authors identify targeted research directions.
Design/methodology/approach
This study collected 438 English articles and 31 Chinese articles on value cocreation in tourism and hospitality published in the Web of Science, Scopus and China National Knowledge Infrastructure online databases. After analyzing the study location of all articles in the sample, the authors identified 79 English-language articles that adopted China as the context of the study. The first data set included non-China-focused publications and the second data set included China-focused publications. A comparative bibliometric methodology was conducted.
Findings
The results indicate similarities and differences between the two data sets in terms of research methods, topics and future research directions. Seven major concepts were identified in the first data set: hospitality value cocreation; the value generation process; key stakeholders; outcome variables; the application of service-dominant logic; peer-to-peer accommodation and destination management. Four research focuses were identified in the second data set: the application of customer-dominant logic; the value generation process; resource integration and the cocreation experience.
Research limitations/implications
This research contributes to the understanding of tourism and hospitality cocreation systems through literature analysis and encourages future research on the nexus of the Chinese and global contexts. This systematic investigation extends the concept of value cocreation by integrating its implementation process and value categories and further evaluates the consequences and benefits of value cocreation, which helps clarify how winners and losers can adjust their strategies accordingly.
Originality/value
The originality of this paper lies in the adopted comparative bibliometric analysis which comprehensively reviewed and compared the characteristics of value cocreation research across two contexts. In addition, the study dialectically assesses Chinese tourism cocreation phenomena and their impacts from a global perspective.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to synthesize the extant literature on green innovation (GI), and more importantly, to provide future directions for GI research from the innovation ecosystem (IE) perspective.
Design/methodology/approach
A systematic literature review is conducted to summarize the status of current GI research, followed by content analysis to identify connectivity and crossovers between key concepts in the bodies of GI and IE literature. Then, the authors propose a green innovation ecosystem (GIE) framework and offer recommendations for future research on GI.
Findings
It is evident that the bodies of GI and IE literature overlap on the roles of external actors, and yet, there is scant research investigating GI activities from the IE perspective. Moreover, there are multiple directions worthy of future research applying the proposed GIE framework.
Originality/value
Though the concept of ecosystem has become pervasive in innovation management research, this study is one of the first works to introduce IE concepts and propositions in the GI research context. This paper provides new knowledge on GIEs and sets the basis for further investigation.

Abstract
Purpose
Drawing on the cognitive–affective–conative framework, this study aims to develop a model of service robot acceptance in the hospitality sector by incorporating both cognitive evaluations and affective responses.
Design/methodology/approach
A mixed-method approach combining qualitative and quantitative methods was used to develop measurement and test research hypotheses.
Findings
The results show that five cognitive evaluations (i.e. cuteness, coolness, courtesy, utility and autonomy) significantly influence consumers’ positive affect, leading to customer acceptance intention. Four cognitive evaluations (cuteness, interactivity, courtesy and utility) significantly influence consumers’ negative affect, which in turn positively affects consumer acceptance intention.
Practical implications
This study provides significant implications for the design and implementation of service robots in the hospitality and tourism sector.
Originality/value
Different from traditional technology acceptance models, this study proposed a model based on the hierarchical relationships of cognition, affect and conation to enhance knowledge about human–robot interactions.
