Abstract
This report arises out of considerations to “merge” different institutions of higher education, and from preliminary work on techniques for objective assessment of “learning environments”. Analyses and comparison of results obtained from an administration of the College and University Environment Scales to College of Advanced Education and University samples are presented and discussed in terms of traditional roles and expectations of those institutions. The evidence that emerges points to a genuine difference in the learning environments of the two types of institutions. For example, second year C.A.E. teacher trainees scored significantly higher than their university counterparts on Practicality and Community factors. On the other hand University trainees scored significantly higher on the Awareness and Scholarship dimensions.

Abstract
This paper gives a review of the finite element techniques (FE) applied in the area of material processing. The latest trends in metal forming, non‐metal forming, powder metallurgy and composite material processing are briefly discussed. The range of applications of finite elements on these subjects is extremely wide and cannot be presented in a single paper; therefore the aim of the paper is to give FE researchers/users only an encyclopaedic view of the different possibilities that exist today in the various fields mentioned above. An appendix included at the end of the paper presents a bibliography on finite element applications in material processing for 1994‐1996, where 1,370 references are listed. This bibliography is an updating of the paper written by Brannberg and Mackerle which has been published in Engineering Computations, Vol. 11 No. 5, 1994, pp. 413‐55.

Abstract
At a European level, despite the numerous policies developed in relation to the inclusion of Roma, Roma continue to be discriminated. With regard to education, Roma children remain among the lowest academic achievers in all European countries and the same is reported in Greece. This chapter discusses aspects of life for Roma living in Greece, with an emphasis on education: first, it details aspects of Greek Roma’s social and cultural life; second it focuses on Greek Roma’s education (educational situation, policies and supportive programmes for Roma children); third, it presents studies which have started to examine contexts where the Greek Roma have experienced some educational progression against the odds.

Abstract
Purpose
Social media played an irreplaceable role in young people’s online social life and information consumption during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research focuses on the impact of excessive information on social media about COVID-19 vaccines on Generation Z's (Gen Z) associated psychological states and long-term vaccine advocacy.
Design/methodology/approach
The research conducted structural equation modeling analysis with online survey data from 409 Gen Z citizens in the UK.
Findings
The findings suggest that excessive information increased Gen Z social media users' ambivalence and conspiracy beliefs around COVID-19 vaccines, which, in turn, reduced their long-term vaccine advocacy in terms of vaccine acceptance, vaccination intention and vaccine promotion. Importantly, Gen Z’s confidence in government and in the healthcare systems during COVID-19 was effective in helping them overcome the detrimental effects of conspiracy beliefs and ambivalence about long-term vaccine advocacy, respectively.
Originality/value
This research reveals the “dark side” of social media use in the post-pandemic period and highlights the significant roles played by social institutions in mitigating the detrimental effects of Gen Z’s support in social decisions. Beyond the context of COVID-19, this research has important implications for facilitating the civic engagement of Gen Z and boosting their confidence in social institutions in terms of social cohesion.

Abstract
This paper describes the effect of alloying elements such as Nb and Ga on the corrosion behaviour of Nd‐Fe‐B permanent magnetic alloy. The results revealed that the alloying elements are not helpful in improving the corrosion resistance of the base magnet; rather their presence makes the base alloy highly vulnerable to corrosion in acidic environments. In particular, Nb addition is more detrimental to corrosion as was evidenced by potentiodynamic, cyclic polarisation, Ecorr vs time, electrochemical impedance and SEM results. The studies also showed that the degradation of the alloys with and without alloying addition takes place due to preferential dissolution of grain boundaries.

Abstract
This chapter summarizes the knowledge on sleep and restitution. Sleep constitutes the recuperative process of the central nervous system. The use of the brain during wakefulness will lead to depletion of energy in the cortical areas locally responsible for activity. The level of depletion is monitored and sleep is initiated when critical levels are reached. The attempts to initiate sleep are perceived as sleepiness or fatigue. The ensuing sleep then actively restores brain physiology to normal levels. This also results in restored alertness, memory capacity, and mood. Also, peripheral anabolic processes (secretion of growth hormone and testosterone) are strongly enhanced and catabolic process (secretion of cortisol and catecholamines) are strongly suppressed. In the long run, reduced or impaired sleep leads to metabolic diseases, depression, burnout, and mortality. Stress and irregular hours are among the main causes of disturbed sleep.
