Abstract
Purpose
β-Carotene is the most appropriate and significant precursor of vitamin A. Synthetic carotene supplements have been known to pose a threat to human health, making natural sources such as the indefensible choice for the production and extraction of carotene.
Design/methodology/approach
This study considers Blakeslea trispora, a filamentous fungus, as a source of production of carotenoids by fermentation and wet and dry mycelium were used to analyse and obtain better extraction results.
Findings
In this study, natural oils such as soy oil and cottonseed oil were incorporated into fermentation media to increase the production of carotene. For the optimization process, Plackett–Burman and one-factor-at-a-time (OVAT) models were identified as being of great value.
Originality/value
OVAT was carried out for corn starch because it plays a major role in the production of carotene and the corn starch at 30 g/L concentration has shown the maximum activity of 3.48 mg/gm. After optimizing process variables, submerged fermentation was eventually carried out under highly controlled media conditions. The resulting product was quantified using UV spectroscopy and extraction of carotene has been observed in the presence of various solvents. Among a range of solvents used, the methylene Di chloride produced-carotene at 86% recovery at a significantly lower temperature of 35°C.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to identify the big data analytics (BDAs) based enablers of supply chain capabilities (SCCs) and competitiveness of firms. This paper also models the interaction among identified enablers and thus projects the relationship strength of these enablers with SCC and a firm's competitiveness.
Design/methodology/approach
In order to achieve the research objectives of this paper, we employed fuzzy total interpretive structural modeling (TISM), an integrated approach of an interpretive structural model and TISM.
Findings
Results suggest that BDA-based enablers namely, IT infrastructure for BDA; leadership commitment; people skills for use of BDA and financial support for BDA significantly enable SCC and enhance firm competitiveness.
Practical implications
Results of the present study have implications for researchers and practitioners; the results will enable them to design policies around identified enablers of BDA initiatives.
Originality/value
The present paper is one of a few early efforts that address the role of BDA in augmenting SCC and subsequently a firm's competitiveness from a resource-dynamic capability perspective.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to delve into the intricate world of small retailers in India, seeking to understand the impediments/barriers they encounter when trying to embrace online-to-offline (O2O) platforms. It also investigates the potential impact of the digital ecosystem in moderating these barriers.
Design/methodology/approach
Data from 426 Indian retailers was collected, and structural equation modelling was used to validate the conceptual framework.
Findings
The findings highlight the importance of addressing distrust and technological anxiety as key barriers to O2O platform adoption. Psychological risk, low-tech orientation, privacy risk, financial risk and social risk were also identified as barriers. Interestingly, performance risk and infrastructure were found to be insignificant in this study. The study indicates that the digital ecosystem does moderate the relationship between psychological risk, performance risk, distrust and technological anxiety with attitude.
Research limitations/implications
This research holds significant implications for technology adoption, retail management and aggregator platform development in developing nations, notably India. This research draws upon a conceptual framework to deepen the understanding of the O2O technology platform by providing an all-inclusive overview.
Originality/value
This study breaks new ground by investigating the distinctive obstacles to O2O adoption faced by small retailers in India. By validating the digital ecosystem’s moderating effect, this research yields insights that are context-specific and particularly relevant to the Indian retail landscape. Valuable guidance is offered for researchers, practitioners and policymakers navigating O2O strategy implementation in emerging markets.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to study the motivational mechanism of meaningful work (MFW) between the relationship of mindfulness and transcendence in an Indian context.
Design/methodology/approach
To achieve the research objective, a cross-sectional study was conducted. We have collected data from 311 participants (employees of large Indian manufacturing organizations, both public and private) using a self-administered survey questionnaire. Collected data was examined using path analysis.
Findings
Results suggest that MFW partially mediates the relationship between mindfulness and transcendence. Overall, this study highlights the role of mindfulness in making employees more passionate, joyful, and energetic at the workplace to achieve transcendence.
Practical implications
This study suggests ways through which positive emotions and a sense of meaningfulness can be enhanced. It also provides valuable implications for managers by suggesting various practices for enhancing an employee's transcendence.
Originality/value
The study contributes to the positive organizational behavior field by providing some novel insights with a focus on mindfulness, MFW and transcendence. It also fills the void in the area of transcendence empirical studies related to the Indian context.
