Abstract
Purpose
Pricing on the online booking systems is a difficult task for the host, the systems usually set the prices that are lower than the general premises and quality, and that only gives benefits to the system by easily attracting the customer to use the service. The setting price of the new accommodation is often based on location, the number of beds, type of house and so on. The main problem is to predict the most reasonable price for the host. This paper aims to study the use of machine learning and sentiment analysis for predicting the price of online booking systems.
Design/methodology/approach
In particular, an empirical study is performed first for some well-known classification models for the problems. The authors then propose to apply k-means, a clustering technique, together with Gradient Boost and XGBoost models to improve the prediction performance. Experiments are conducted and tested for real Airbnb data sets collected in London City.
Findings
Experimental results are given and compared to show that the authors’ method outperforms to an updated method.

Abstract
This chapter provides information on the development of Vietnamese education under the influence of global forces based on the analysis of relevant education research and policies using Wolhuter’s frameworks. In the process of coming up with ways to develop education in the face of different influences of globalization, besides having reactions with patterns commonly found in countries around the world, Vietnam also has responses that reflect its own political, sociocultural and economic characteristics. The state still plays a controlling role in education at all levels and many culture-related features that have existed throughout the country’s history have hardly changed, namely aspects related to teachers, learners and teaching and learning methods. To sustain its education in the globalized era, Vietnam must make more efforts in various aspects such as the link between education and employment, the logic of education objectives, the feasibility and appropriateness of curricula, quality of education, especially of higher education and equality in education for underprivileged groups.

Abstract
Purpose
From the customer-relationship theory and attachment theory approaches, this study proposes a serial mediation model to examine how celebrity attachment influences event attendees' intentions in the celebrity endorsement process in the context of events.
Design/methodology/approach
Paper-based and online surveys were used to collect data from 759 Vietnamese respondents, aged 15 and above, who followed domestic or international celebrities and were interested in various events taking place in Vietnam. A serial multiple mediation model was evaluated through covariance-based structural equation modeling.
Findings
The results confirmed the cognitive, affective and hybrid cognitive-affective pathways among antecedents, celebrity attachment and event participation intentions.
Research limitations/implications
Future studies need to validate these findings across diverse cultural settings and larger participant pools to enhance their applicability. Exploring celebrity endorsement for events from an international follower perspective could offer valuable insights. Future research should consider these factors when interpreting results. It may benefit from conducting longitudinal or mixed-method studies to improve generalizability. Additional moderating variables are necessary, as research on the celebrity endorsement process for events evolves.
Originality/value
This study contributes to the literature on celebrity endorsement within event marketing, emphasizing the customer-brand relationship and attachment theory. It extends existing research that primarily examines how celebrity attachment influences event attendees' intentions in the celebrity endorsement process by validating a serial mediation model.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to identify and assess global risks in the supply chain performance.
Design/methodology/approach
First, global risks are identified and classified according to three criteria: content, probability and context. A set of supply chain performance indicators are then defined by the theory of resource-based view and balanced scorecard. Structural equation modeling is adopted to access risks in the global supply chain.
Findings
This article contributes to the supply chain risk management literature by providing a detailed operationalization of global supply chain risk constructs, e.g. natural disasters, war and terrorism, fire accidents, economic and political instability, social and cultural grievances, decease. Empirical results reveal that the supply chain is predominantly regarded as being vulnerable as the proposed model of risks can explain up to 12.6% variance of supplier performance, 25.2% innovation and learning, 23% internal business, 40.6% customer service and 32.4% finance.
Research limitations/implications
These risks are relevant contextual variables in strategic supply chain decisions. Supply chain managers should keep in mind acceptable cost/benefit tradeoffs in their firms' mitigation efforts associated with major contingency risks. This research advocates the allocation of scarce resources to adopt the supply chain strategies of avoidance, speculative and postponement.
Originality/value
The application of the strategic content/process/context to explain global supply chain performance is an interesting approach. Moreover, globalization trends and the COVID-19 perspectives are considered to be the main reasons for increasing such complex factors. Data on validating research models collected during the COVID-19 pandemic reflect the topicality of this study.

Abstract
Purpose
Humanoid robots have been utilized in many fields such as medical, construction, and disaster response. While humanoid robots nowadays can achieve great capabilities, the one-leg balancing task still poses a challenging problem. This paper aims to propose a novel approach to solve the problem.
Design/methodology/approach
To aid the balance of one leg in humanoid robot, an external balance mechanism is inserted to the back of the humanoid robot. First, a dynamic model of the humanoid robot with balance mechanism and its simplified model are introduced. Second, a backstepping-based control method is utilized to build the proposed controller for one-leg stance system through two steps. For the first step, a minimum observer-based controller with a virtual control input is used to control the first sub-system reaching the desired reference input. For the second step, a virtual control input is considered as a reference input of a second sub-system, then a model reference adaptive controller (MRAC) is employed to control the second sub-system reaching the virtual control input in presence of uncertainties. By using the external balance mechanism, the sideway balancing task is separated from normal walking function. Furthermore, the utilization of the balance mechanism ensures the humanoid robot's hip adduction does not exceed the threshold of a human when walking. Finally, a simulation study is carried out to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
Findings
This paper proposes a model reference adaptive control using state observer for balancing one leg of humanoid robot in stance phase that extends our previous research (Tran et al., 2021).

Abstract
Purpose
This study analyses the direct and indirect impacts of risks on the service-oriented construction supply chain and its resilience during disruptions.
Design/methodology/approach
We utilised the service-dominant logic, contingency and information processing theories to identify service-oriented construction supply chain characteristics and risk behaviours during turbulent times.
Findings
Our analysis of 285 construction companies with a strong service orientation revealed that the proposed risk model explains a 33.6% variance in supplier performance, 46.4% operational performance, 47.1% customer satisfaction and 46.5% financial performance. Our findings highlight the importance of effectively monitoring risks in service-oriented construction supply chains and examining complex networks in which risk variables impact construction supply chain performance.
Research limitations/implications
This study examines the influence mechanisms between risks and actors’ performance in construction supply chains, taking a service-oriented perspective.
Originality/value
Previous studies emphasise the risks that construction companies encounter from disruptions, such as maintaining operations and enhancing performance. Nevertheless, the research still needs to establish the transmission mechanism of the simultaneous impact (direct and indirect) of all forms of risk on supply chain performance.

Purpose
Proactive risk assessment suggests that risk assessment should emphasize the consequences that it might cause and the opportunities it might create for firms. Hence, this study aims to validate risk impact on supply chain performance in the context of the Vietnamese construction sector. Also, a complex network, in which multiple risk factors mutually affect, impede or promote each other, is developed to assist managers in tackling unpredictable risks proactively. In particular, the authors investigate whether certain risks could be considered either challenges or opportunities for businesses in turbulent times to improve SC performance.
Design/methodology/approach
The construction industry is the focal study context as it is one of the most essential industries in charge of providing accommodations, infrastructures and employment for society. 289 valid responses used in this research are from a large-scale survey result, supported by a Japanese government project promoting sustainable socio-economic development in Vietnam.
Findings
From the study findings, the authors find that external risk brings opportunities for supply chain performance. Meanwhile, demand risk, when it occurs, can reduce the danger level of operational risk, which is an interesting finding of this research. It is evident that when multiple risk factors mutually affect, impede or promote each other, it provides a more meaningful examination of mutually interconnected supply chain risks.
Originality/value
Practitioners should perceive risks as an opportunity than a threat. This study contributes to preventing risks and guaranteeing an effective and efficient supply chain by tackling unpredictable risks in a disruptive period. Moreover, data on validating research models collected during the Covid-19 pandemic and Ukraine and Russia conflicts reflect the topicality of this study.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to examine the relationship between corporate social responsibility (CSR) and worker turnover rate (WTR) and worker turnover cost (WTC) in Vietnamese garment companies, using the mediating role of symbolic image dimensions (SID) of employer image and the moderating role of unemployment rate.
Design/methodology/approach
This study uses Signaling Theory and Job Embeddedness Theory as theoretical frameworks to examine the mediating role of SID and the moderating role of the unemployment rate on the link between CSR and WTR, as well as the associated cost. Data from 119 Vietnamese garment companies are analyzed using structural equation modeling – AMOS software.
Findings
The findings suggest that CSR has a direct adverse effect on the WTR and an indirect effect on WTC through WTR. The results also indicate a direct relationship between the level of CSR adopted by companies and workers’ perception of the symbolic attributes of their company’s employer image as sincere, innovative, competent and prestigious. This, in turn, leads to a reduced rate of worker turnover. In addition, this study discovers the moderating influence of the region’s unemployment rate on the correlation between companies’ CSR and WTR.
Practical implications
The results indicate that companies should view CSR as a strategic tool to obtain better performance by achieving a win-win state of affairs with their workers. It also implies the influence of external economic factors on the relationship between CSR and worker turnover.
Originality/value
This study contributes to the literature by highlighting the economic benefits of CSR and the SID.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to integrate the Social Cognitive Career Theory with the Theory of Planned Behavior to unravel the intricate dynamics of how engaging with ChatGPT affects individuals’ digital entrepreneurial intention, underlying the serial mediation mechanism of the cognitive and reasoned career process.
Design/methodology/approach
This research use a cross-sectional design, drawing on a sample of 604 higher education students from six universities in Vietnam. Multiple regression analyses were conducted to test the formulated hypotheses after assessing the reliability and validity of scales through Cronbach’s alpha and confirmatory factor analysis.
Findings
The results indicate that ChatGPT adoption significantly increases perceived AI competencies, entrepreneurial opportunity recognition and digital entrepreneurial self-efficacy. Digital entrepreneurial self-efficacy was found to have a positive impact on attitudes toward digital entrepreneurship, which, in turn, fosters digital entrepreneurial intention. ChatGPT adoption thus poses serial indirect impacts on digital entrepreneurial intention through the sequential pathways of enhanced digital entrepreneurial self-efficacy and positive attitudes.
Practical implications
This study’s findings provide valuable recommendations for entrepreneurs, higher education institutions and policymakers.
Originality/value
This research contributes to the entrepreneurship literature by integrating two prominent theoretical frameworks to elucidate how ChatGPT adoption impacts digital entrepreneurial intentions. The serial mediation model expands that understanding of the complex cognitive and reasoned processes involved, providing a novel perspective on the role of AI in entrepreneurship.

Abstract
Purpose
High-performance work system (HPWS) is considered a solid predictor of both organizational and individual outcomes. The current study examines the impact of employees' perception of HPWS and supervisor-rated employee creativity (EC). Critical reflection is hypothesized as a mediator of the above relationship. Human resource management (HRM) attribution moderates the indirect relationship between HPWS and EC and completes a moderated mediation model.
Design/methodology/approach
A quantitative research design is adopted with data collected from 531 employees and their direct supervisors from 12 firms in Vietnam. Partial least square structural equation modelling is used to test the hypotheses.
Findings
Employees' perception of HPWS is significantly associated with supervisor-rated creativity. Critical reflection has been found to partially mediate the above relationship. In addition, employees' exploiting attribution of HPWS intensifies the positive relationship between HPWS and critical reflection.
Research limitations/implications
The research suggests that HPWS can be viewed from both the bright and dark sides. The resource offered by HPWS goes hand in hand with pressure from high-performance expectations. Employees may need to engage in a resource investment decision to avoid net resource loss. In addition, attention should be paid to employees' perception of the justification for HPWS implementation.
Originality/value
This study offers an alternative way to explain the association between HPWS and employee creativity. Based on the Conservation of Resource Theory, employee creativity is viewed as a stress coping strategy with HPWS conceptualized as a stressor. In addition, the mediating role of critical reflection represents a novelty. Furthermore, the role of HRM attributions is explained.
