Abstract
Examines the effect of domestic inflation on recorded measures of the current account of the balance of payments. When domestic inflation is relatively high, it distorts conventionally measured current account deficits. This is because part of the recorded servicing payments on external liabilities are actually capital repayments and hence should be shown on the capital account. Presents estimates of Australia′s inflation‐adjusted current account deficit as an example of the methodology outlined. These estimates suggest that, in practice, Australia′s inflation – adjusted account deficit throughout the 1980s, expressed as a proportion of GDP, was under half the value of the nominal measure. When nominal measures of external deficits differ sub‐stantially from inflation‐adjusted outcomes, they can give misleading signals to policymakers.

The big changes over recent years and their rapid development in Food Retailing have resulted in different shopping practices, for the institution, the hotel, restaurant and the home. Different cuisines have developed, foods purchased, both in cooking practices and eating habits, especially in the home. Gone are the old fashioned home economics, taking with them out of the diet much that was enjoyed and from which the families benefitted in health and stomach satisfaction. In very recent times, the changes have become bigger, developments more rapid, and the progress continues. Bigger and bigger stores, highly departmentalised, mechanical aids of every description, all under one roof, “complex” is an appropriate term for it; large open spaces for the housewife with a car. The development is in fact aimed at the bulk buyer — rapid turnover — the small household needs, not entirely neglected, but not specially catered for. Daily cash takings are collosal. This is what the small owner‐occupied general store, with its many domestic advantages, has come to fall in the late twentieth century.

Since the first Volume of this Bibliography there has been an explosion of literature in all the main areas of business. The researcher and librarian have to be able to uncover specific articles devoted to certain topics. This Bibliography is designed to help. Volume III, in addition to the annotated list of articles as the two previous volumes, contains further features to help the reader. Each entry within has been indexed according to the Fifth Edition of the SCIMP/SCAMP Thesaurus and thus provides a full subject index to facilitate rapid information retrieval. Each article has its own unique number and this is used in both the subject and author index. The first Volume of the Bibliography covered seven journals published by MCB University Press. This Volume now indexes 25 journals, indicating the greater depth, coverage and expansion of the subject areas concerned.

Abstract
This chapter details how local racial contexts and educators’ readings of those contexts shape actions they took in sponsoring Black students. Sponsorship was understood as the process in which agents provide, stymie, and/or enhance access to valued resources. The author utilized data collected during a yearlong ethnography of two high schools – one urban and the other suburban – both within a metropolitan Midwestern city. Findings from the study highlighted that teachers’ involvement in sponsorship was shaped by how they understood local racial disparities and contrasting views of equality. First, teachers noted residential segregation patterns as evidence of past and present manifestations of systemic racism that disadvantaged Black students. Second, they relied on their knowledge of racialized educational disparities to shape equitable actions. Third, teachers employed a restrictive equality approach to argue that access to high-performing schools was enough for some Black students in order to neglect modifying assignments. The need exists for researchers to examine complexities of sponsorship and how racism (re)shapes actions sponsors take toward fostering Black student academic success. Additionally, it is important for teachers to deepen their understanding of systemic racism and its manifestations within particular localities.

Purpose
The main aim of this paper is to provide a living tribute of lived expert by experience and researcher Andrew Voyce.
Design/methodology/approach
Andrew provided the author with a list of names of people he might approach to write a tribute on his behalf.
Findings
The accounts describe the influence that Andrew has had both as an educator and as a trusted colleague for the people approached.
Research limitations/implications
In many ways, the voices of people with mental health problems have been marginalised. Few mental health journals, with only some exceptions, encourage lived experience contributions.
Practical implications
The mental health agenda continues to be dominated by professional groups. The remarkable individuals who continually battle with serious mental illness are often lost in official discourses.
Social implications
Despite the fact that the topic of mental health is now much more in the public domain, research tells us that the most effective anti-stigma strategy is contact with sufferers.
Originality/value
The archivist Dr Anna Sexton co-produced one of the few mental health archives that only featured people with lived experience. Andrew was one of the four people featured in it. This account “showcases” the work of this remarkable man.

Abstract
This article analyses UK Early Years policy in terms of service expansion and service transformation since the Labour Government's election in 1997. Childcare is now a matter of public policy, driven largely by concerns about child poverty and inequalities in children's life chances. The evidence is considered, first, on service expansion, increased take‐up and increased employment by parents with young children, and, second, on service transformation and child outcomes: to what extent have changes benefited disadvantaged children, families and neighbourhoods? The Effective Provision of Preschool Education (EPPE) research shows that pre‐school can boost disadvantaged children's intellectual development in particular, and the article concludes that programmes such as Sure Start and Neighbourhood Nurseries have been successfully targeted at the most disadvantaged areas, although better‐off families and neighbourhoods may have benefited even more, and that problems of cost and sustainability remain. It is too early to judge whether better integrated services now being developed will be successful in transforming the lives of the most disadvantaged children.

Abstract
Purpose – Network‐level collaboration between different organisations is acknowledged to be one of the success factors in achieving a competitive advantage in business. However, contemporary business environments demand more suitable managerial tools and practices at both organisational and network levels. The purpose of this paper is to summarize approaches to managing and developing network‐level processes. Design/methodology/approach – The empirical evidence is based on a multiple case study on leadership and performance management in a network environment. The empirical data were gathered in 18 semi‐structured interviews at the case companies. The cases were chosen because they represent different types of networks, which make it possible to identify common factors in leadership and performance management regardless of the specific characteristics of any certain type of network. Findings – The findings of this study support the assumption that the networked way of doing business needs a shared management perspective that discusses and leads operations of the network. Furthermore, there is little point in designing measurements and other managerial tools in the organisations, if the culture and leadership behaviour are not committed to changes and collaboration. Research limitations/implications – Future studies will include in a wider way the roles of networking when more individuals are engaged in the action and the objectives of the participants are achieved. Although the creation of the network is an on‐going process, the preliminary results are promising. Practical implications – The study reveals significant requirements that contribute to successfully establishing collaborative networking, and the development of knowledge sharing, leadership and managerial procedures and systems. Originality/value – The potential value of this research paper is in its function as a summary for organisation scholars looking for approaches to manage and develop network‐level processes. Even though the networking trend itself has received a lot of researcher attention, collaboration between different organisations influenced by a combination of transformational leadership and performance management has not been much noticed.

Moanin'; Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, Blue Note CDP 7 46516 2. Even though this reissue was released several years ago, please get it into your library's collections as well as your own. The late Art Blakey is one of the most important figures in jazz history. He was one of the seminal bebop drummers, but his true niche is as the leader of the Jazz Messengers. Almost every major trumpet player for the last four decades played with Blakey, from Clifford Brown to Fred‐die Hubbard to Wynton Marsalis, and a whole number of others along the way. As well, Blakey's sax players, e.g. Wayne Shorter, Branford Marsalis, et. al., were no slouches.
