Abstract
Purpose
The shapes of surface textures have been designed to control the leakage of mechanical seals in recent years. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate the influence of geometric properties of elliptical dimples on the leakage rate.
Design/methodology/approach
A new geometric feature point is expressed using an analytical solution to locate the high-pressure zones. Furthermore, a numerical model of the three-dimensional flow field for the mechanical seal with elliptical dimples is developed using ANSYS Fluent to demonstrate the influencing mechanism.
Findings
The location of the proposed geometric converging point coincides with the maximum pressure point under different orientation angles. An inward flow on the leakage section observed from the simulation results is responsible for decreasing the leakage rate.
Originality/value
The influencing mechanism of the elliptical dimple on the leakage rate is demonstrated, which can facilitate the design of surface textures.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to examine the role of infrastructure on the income growth and poverty reduction of rural household in China by estimating the impact of road accessibility on the extent of household off-farm employment and its heterogeneous effects among the groups with different income level and earning capacity.
Design/methodology/approach
Using nationally representative panel data collected in 100 villages about 2000 households across five provinces in 2005, 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2019. This study adopts Tobit model with panel data, zero-inflated Poisson model and static nonbalanced panel model to yield consistent results.
Findings
We find that road accessibility generally has no effect on the number of off-farm laborers and duration of off-farm employment. However, road accessibility is not beneficial for the households in the low-income villages or with low educational attainment, but it benefits the households in the high-income villages by promoting local off-farm employment or with high educational attainment by increasing the duration of migrant off-farm employment.
Originality/value
This study identifies the heterogeneous effects of road accessibility on the extent of off-farm employment among rural households, which narrows the research gap and enriches the literature. The empirical findings imply that road accessibility widens the gap between rich and poor in off-farm employment, which is of great important to the alleviation of relative poverty after 2020 in China.

Abstract
Purpose
The alienation of megaproject environmental responsibility (MER) behavior is destructive, but its mechanism has not been clearly depicted. Based on fraud triangle theory and the fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) method, this study explored the combined effect of antecedent factors on alienation of MER behavior.
Design/methodology/approach
Based on the fraud triangle theory and literature review, eight influencing factors associated with the alienation of MER behavior were first identified. Subsequently, the fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis was used in this study to reveal configurations influencing alienation of MER behavior.
Findings
The study found nine configurations of MER behavioral alienation antecedent factors, integrated into three types of driving modes, i.e. “economic pressure + learning effect,” “institutional defect + moral rejection,” and “information asymmetry + economic pressure + expectation pressure.”
Originality/value
By analyzing the configuration effects of various induced conditions, this study puts forward a comprehensive analysis framework to solve the alienation of MER behavior in the megaprojects and a practical strategy to control alienation of MER behavior.

Abstract
Purpose
This purpose of this study was to develop a 3D printer based on powder particle. The best degreasing and sintering process of a blank body was investigated to obtain a metal product with high precision and high surface finish. This process will greatly reduce the difficulty and cost of forming a complex metal product with high application value.
Design/methodology/approach
Stainless steel powder and polymer materials were mixed using a rubber mixing machine. The powders were granulated to prepare a mixed material. A powder feed 3D printer was used at low temperature (about 200°C) to print and degrease the body. A series of sintering experiments were performed to study the different sintering temperatures, and the physical and mechanical properties of the sample sintered under various conditions were compared to determine the best degreasing and sintering process.
Findings
The reaction at 1,370°C was the optimal route for the metal billet degreasing. The resulting metal products had fine structure and stable performance compared with the products with traditional powder metallurgy composition.
Originality/value
Most 3D printed metal powder materials rely on imports, which are expensive and increase the manufacturing cost. These drawbacks limit the application and development of metal 3D printing technology to a certain extent. The successful study of this molding method greatly reduces the difficulty and cost of forming complex metal products with high application value. This report will provide valuable guidance for sintering process and forming methods.

Purpose
Vertical business-to-business (B2B) relationship models are dynamic and depend on economic and relational constructs. However, it remains unclear how relationship termination intentions evolve across the mature and final stages of the B2B relationship cycle, particularly in the hospitality sector. Thus, this study investigates the dynamics of B2B relationship termination mechanisms.
Design/methodology/approach
The authors use a two time-lag interval method to provide insights into how these two variables (relational satisfaction and partner trust) mediate (e.g. strengthen or weaken) the relationship between social dependence and relationship termination intentions over time.
Findings
The authors demonstrate that relational satisfaction is not directly linked to relationship termination intentions across B2B relationship stages. However, our findings show that social dependence and partner trust are both key determinants of relationship termination intentions over time. Based on the mature and final stages of a B2B relationship cycle, these results suggest that researchers must understand the theoretical mechanism of B2B relationships and the roles key constructs play in determining how these relationships conclude.
Originality/value
This study is novel in capturing the evolution of B2B relationship stages. This research presents the first collection of ample evidence on the manifestation of relationship termination in the transition from social dependence to reduced partner trust.

Abstract
Purpose
As megaprojects bear extensive and profound social responsibilities throughout the project life cycle, formulating effective measures for improving construction enterprise social responsibility is key to project success. Given the current research is relatively lack of these measures, this study aims to formulate a meta-network framework to improve the megaproject social responsibility behaviour (MSRB) for construction enterprises.
Design/methodology/approach
First, this study implements literature review, expert interview and field investigation to identify the construction enterprise MSRB and its influencing factors. Second, this study evaluates the MSRB implementation level of the selected construction enterprises and proposes the above mentioned meta-network framework. Next, this meta-network is configured to reflect the impact of MSRB strategic adjustment. Last but not least, a real-world case study is carried out to validate this framework.
Findings
The best MSRB performance is always witnessed from the contractor group, followed by the project client group and the site supervisor group. The outcomes of implementing certain managerial strategies indicate that (1) social responsibility cognition is a critical factor for all the groups; (2) communication mechanism and normative pressure are the critical factors for clients; (3) coercive pressure is a critical factor for supervisors and (4) cultural cognitive pressure is a critical factor for clients and contractors.
Originality/value
The use of the framework in proactive assessment and management of MSRB can lead to effective strategies for construction enterprises to increase the efficiency and quality of projects.

A crossover effect exists in the relationship between recommendation apps and restaurants in the online-to-offline (O2O) service platform context. Yet, how this effect evolves across subsequent consumption episodes, from the initial stage of information searching to the final stage of loyalty to a service provider, remains unclear.
Design/methodology/approach
This study utilizes a two-time-lag interval approach to test changes in temporal and carryover effects and attribute weights.
Findings
While there is no crossover effect between restaurant satisfaction and recommendation app loyalty during two time-lag interval periods, the crossover effect between recommendation app satisfaction and restaurant loyalty intentions is significant. These findings indicate that the satisfaction–loyalty intentions linkage operates systematically within the O2O consumption domain and increases over time. Particularly, the initial selection of a restaurant based on an app’s recommendation strengthens the intention to use the app again and increases loyalty toward the restaurant.
Originality/value
This study contributes to the literature by demonstrating the crossover effects of the two consumption systems on consumer evaluations. It underscores the importance of changes in individual attribute weights between the two systems as behavioral responses occur during initial and subsequent consumption phases.

The purpose of this study is to advance the understanding of digitalization–sustainability relationships in the digital age. Specifically, this study aims to test the link between Chinese digital firms’ adoption of digital technologies and green innovation. This study highlights the peculiarities of digital firms related to green innovation and how the adoption of digital technologies contributes to the sustainable development agenda.
Design/methodology/approach
This study empirically examines the impact of digital technologies on green innovation outcomes in publicly listed digital firms in China from 2010 to 2020. Using panel data from the China Stock Market and Accounting Research Database (CSMAR) and the Chinese Research Data Services Platform, the authors estimate regression models and find support for the hypotheses.
Findings
The authors find that the digitalization level of firms has a positive impact on corporate green innovation. In addition, this relationship is positively moderated by the level of internationalization in the firms. Moreover, the results of this study past the robustness and endogeneity checks.
Originality/value
This study provides novel insights into the green innovation of digital firms by analyzing the knowledge management capabilities of digital firms as well as the impact of the level of internationalization on knowledge acquisition and management (i.e. boundary conditions). Specifically, the findings of this study provide a new context to encourage study on green innovation. Moreover, this study enriches the literature on corporate digitalization and the factors influencing corporate green innovation.

Abstract
Purpose
Distinguishing phishing emails from legitimate emails continues to be a difficult task for most individuals. This study aims to investigate the psycholinguistic factors associated with deception in phishing email text and their effect on end-user ability to discriminate phishing emails from legitimate emails.
Design/methodology/approach
Email messages and end-user decisions collected from a laboratory phishing study were validated and analyzed using natural language processing methods (Linguistic Inquiry Word Count) and penalized regression models (LASSO and Elastic Net) to determine the linguistic dimensions that attackers may use in phishing emails to deceive end-users and measure the impact of such choices on end-user susceptibility to phishing.
Findings
We found that most participants, who played the role of a phisher in the study, chose to deceive their end-user targets by pretending to be a familiar individual and presenting time pressure or deadlines. Results show that use of words conveying certainty (e.g. always, never) and work-related features in the phishing messages predicted higher end-user vulnerability. On the contrary, use of words that convey achievement (e.g. earn, win) or reward (cash, money) in the phishing messages predicted lower end-user vulnerability because such features are usually observed in scam-like messages.
Practical implications
Insights from this research show that analyzing emails for psycholinguistic features associated with computer-mediated deception could be used to fine-tune and improve spam and phishing detection technologies. This research also informs the kinds of phishing attacks that must be prioritized in antiphishing training programs.
Originality/value
Applying natural language processing and statistical modeling methods to analyze results from a laboratory phishing experiment to understand deception from both attacker and end-user is novel. Furthermore, results from this work advance our understanding of the linguistic factors associated with deception in phishing email text and its impact on end-user susceptibility.

The purpose of this paper is to reduce the drag loss and study the effects of operating conditions and groove parameters such as flow rate and temperature of automatic transmission fluid, clearance between plates, groove depth and groove ratio on the drag torque of a wet clutch for vehicles, parametric analysis of the drag torque model of wet multi-plate friction clutch with groove consideration.
Design/methodology/approach
Both experimental and numerical research was carried out in this work. Parametric groove models, full film lubrication flow model and pressure distribution model are established to investigate the effects of the grooves on drag torque of a wet clutch. Multigrid method is used to simplify the solution.
Findings
In this paper, a drag torque model of a wet multi-plate friction clutch based on the basic theory of viscous fluid dynamics is examined through experimental and numerical methods that take grooves into account, and the change trend of drag torque with operating conditions and groove parameters is analyzed.
Originality/value
Multigrid method is used to solve the governing equations, which simplifies the solution process because of the restrictions and interpolation operations between the adjacent layers of coarser and fine grids. These works provide insight into the effect regularity of operating conditions and groove parameters on drag torque of a wet multi-plate friction clutch. Furthermore, variable test conditions and sufficient experimental data are the main functions in the experimental research.
