Abstract
Purpose
This study investigates the effect of digital technology adoption on labor demand in the Indonesian banking sector.
Design/methodology/approach
This research uses bank-level survey data obtained from the Indonesia Financial Service Authority (OJK) for the period 2010–2017 using semiannual data. This research applies a panel data method using a fixed effect model.
Findings
This study results show that technology adoption affects labor demand significantly in all Commercial Bank Based on Business Activities (BUKU) levels of banks. Technology adoption tends to be a substitute for labor in BUKU I, BUKU II and BUKU III banks in the support and business units. In addition, technology adoption complements labor only in the business unit in BUKU IV banks.
Research limitations/implications
This research uses a sample of only 40 banks at the regulatory levels of BUKU I, BUKU II, BUKU III and BUKU IV. These 40 banks account for more than 80% of the assets in the Indonesian banking sector.
Originality/value
Literature investigating the effect of the adoption of digital technology on labor demand in the banking sector is still rare in the Indonesian economy. Most of the previous research limited its area of study to the manufacturing industry. This research makes a vital contribution in measuring the adoption of digital technology and its effect on labor demand in the banking sector using the BUKU level classifications of banks.

Abstract
Purpose
Taping, covering objects with masking tapes, is a common process before conducting surface treatments such as plasma spraying and painting. Manual taping is tedious and takes a lot of effort of the workers. This paper aims to introduce an automatic agile robotic system and corresponding algorithm to do the surface taping.
Design/methodology/approach
The taping process is a special process which requires correct tape orientation and proper allocation of the masking tape for the coverage. This paper discusses on the design of the novel automatic system consisting of a robot manipulator, a rotating platform, a 3D scanner and a specially designed novel taping end-effectors. Meanwhile, the taping path planning to cover the region of interests is introduced.
Findings
Currently, cylindrical and freeform surfaces have been tested. With improvements on new sets of taping tools and more detailed taping method, taping of general surfaces can be conducted using such system in future.
Originality/value
The introduced taping path planning method is a novel method first talking about the mathematical model of the taping process. Such taping solution with the taping tool and the taping methodology can be combined as a very useful and practical taping package to replace the work of human in such tedious and time-consuming works.

Abstract
Purpose – The purpose of the research is to analyze the efficiency of Islamic banks in Indonesia. The data used in this research are panel data observed from 2012 until 2016. The sampling of this research is conducted on five Sharia banks in Indonesia, that is, Bank Muamalat, Bank SyariahMandiri, BukopinSyariah, BRI Syariah, and Bank Mega Syariah.
Design/Methodology/Approach – The study uses a quantitative method to analyze the efficiency of Sharia banking with formulation of comparison of operating expenses to operating revenues (BOPO).
Finding – The result of this research concludes that Sharia banking in Indonesia has not been efficient during the last five years, that is, 2012–2016. This can be seen from the range of banking efficiency ratio. The average level of Islamic banking efficiency ranges between 89.73% and 94.16%. Bank Muamalat whose range is 94.16% shows the highest average efficiency ratio compared to other Sharia banks. Meanwhile, Bank Mega Syariah maintains the lowest average efficiency ratio that is 89.37%. The five Sharia banks have a high efficiency ratio of over 80%. This shows that Sharia banking in Indonesia is inefficient
Originality/Value – The bank should be able to balance between cost (cost) and revenue. Sharia banks must also be able to create good product innovation in order to increase the collection of funds from the community, such as for competitive outcomes, prizes, or other programs that raise public interest to use the services of Sharia banking.
Research Limitations/Implications – This inefficiency is due to the high bank operating costs compared to the bank’s operating income.

Abstract
Purpose
Women's empowerment plays a pivotal role in achieving sustainable and sustainable development in developed and developing contexts. The present paper explores the effect of technology orientation (TO), entrepreneurial orientation (EO), and digital technology self-efficacy (DTSE) on digital innovation (DI) and women's empowerment (WE) among Saudi women.
Design/methodology/approach
This is a cross-sectional study which applies a deductive approach. The study collected data from women in Saudi Arabia actively involved in entrepreneurship and utilizing digital technology. The survey questionnaire is used as a prevalent tool to get responses. Finally, the study concludes based on 316 valid samples.
Findings
The structural equation modeling through SmartPls4, the results exert an insignificant effect of TO on both DI and women empowerment. The study confirmed a positive significant impact of EO on DI but not on WE. Moreover, the DTSE construct is found to be a significant and robust analyst of DI and WE. With regard to mediating effects, DI mediates the relationship between EO, DTSE and WE, but not between TO and WE.
Practical implications
The study's findings contribute to more comprehensive and effective initiatives that foster innovation, gender equality, and WE in entrepreneurial networks. The study would assist policymakers and planners in developing robust strategies focusing on digitalization to boost DI and WE through enhanced DTSE. The study would also offer guidelines for policymakers to achieve sustainable development goals (SDGs) generally and specifically for Saudi Vision 2030, which is particularly ambitious to promote WE.
Originality/value
The study fills the gaps by offering a bunch of predictors, i.e., TO, EO, DTSE and DI, which predict WE in the Saudi context.

Purpose
With the growth in the use of technology currently, it is inevitable that all individuals are currently facing the risk of data misuse by irresponsible parties. This study aims to investigate whether companies disclosed information about customer privacy in their reports. The study will also focus on the activities that have been taken by companies to protect customers’ information, and to determine if the disclosure is sufficient to show the company’s performance on the customer privacy issues based on the GRI 418 customer privacy disclosure.
Design/methodology/approach
This study uses qualitative, quantitative and exploratory research based on secondary data collected from annual reports and sustainability reports. The sample used in this study are the annual reports and sustainability reports from Indonesian listed companies in the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) from the year 2019 to 2021.
Findings
The findings elucidate that customer privacy disclosures are still low. Applying a content analysis method, this study uses the sustainability disclosure guidelines from the Global Reporting Initiative.
Practical implications
This study is important as it will contribute to the literature on customer privacy, which is scarce in the extant literature. Given the lack of reporting in this issue, this study found that only six out of seven industries disclose customer privacy.
Originality/value
This study is the first study that examines the product responsibility disclosures relate with customer privacy concerns of Indonesian companies from their disclosures in their sustainability reports and annual report based on the GRI 418 customer privacy disclosure.
