Abstract
The types of innovation considered to be Schumpeterian can be very broad. What is an innovation? According to The Advanced Learner's Dictionary (Hornby, Gatenby, & Wakefield, 1973, p. 545), an innovation is “something new that is introduced.” This covers both inventions and their introduction. Thus, introducing methods to a new market can certainly be a form of Schumpeterian innovation. Schumpeter, however, distinguished innovations (innovators) from inventions (inventors) (Swedberg, 1991, p. 173). He considered innovations as the prime movers in the capitalist process. Johannessen, Olsen, and Lumpkin (2001) dwell on six measures of the “newness” of an innovation based on his interpretation of Schumpeter and others, but glossed over the distinction between innovations and inventions. What, then, was Schumpeter's original formulation?

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to review standards on or related to retro-commissioning (RCx) and policy measures that are applicable for fostering wider adoption of RCx in existing buildings. In addition to engendering broader polemic debate to address the respective gap in the prevailing body of green building knowledge, the research outcome signposts future directions of works required for developing the needed standard and policy.
Design/methodology/approach
Following an integrative review approach, RCx-related literature, statutes, publications of public and professional organizations and standards published by institutions including the International Organization for Standardization and other peer organizations in the USA, the UK, Canada and Germany were reviewed.
Findings
Cities such as Hong Kong and New York in the world’s two largest economies (China and the USA) have been proactive in the pursuit of energy-efficient buildings. Various US cities have imposed statutory requirements on RCx. The need for an international standard on RCx and a bespoke policy for driving the uptake of RCx was also identified.
Research limitations/implications
Drawn from the research includes the need for further policy research studies to direct how an appropriate policy could be established to engender wider RCx adoption internationally.
Practical implications
Practical implications center on the identified need to develop a specific standard of RCx works. Making such a standard available to facilities management practitioners is pivotal to realizing the goal of green buildings.
Originality/value
This study provides new insights, especially the future directions in developing bespoke RCx standards and policy for greening the existing buildings.

Abstract
Purpose
The existing consensus reaching mechanisms ignore the influence of social triangle structure on the decision-makers’ (DMs') weights, and the consensus reaching process (CRP) fails to fully reflect the DMs' subjectivity and can be time consuming and costly. To solve these issues, a novel CRP for multi-criteria group decision-making (MCGDM) problems with intuitionistic grey linguistic numbers (IGLNs) is proposed in this paper.
Design/methodology/approach
First, a weight calculation method is proposed by analysing the triangle structure of DMs' social network and scale of adjacent nodes. Then, a consensus degree index based on three-level polygon area is defined and applied to identify the inconsistent DMs. Finally, the feedback mechanism based on particle swarm optimisation (PSO) algorithm under grey linguistic environment is developed, where subjective trust relationships in social network is utilised to determine the adjustment coefficient.
Findings
The advantages of the proposed method are highlighted by two practical applications of the evaluation of tunnel construction method and the selection of a hotel for the centralised isolation. Comparision analysis and numerical simulation are performed to reveal the effectiveness and applicability of the method.
Practical implications
The proposed model can not only reflect the effect of triangle structure in social network on DMs' weights, but also reduce the time and cost of decision-making.
Originality/value
The main contribution of this paper is to propose a new MCGDM model based on intuitionistic grey linguistic numbers, which can handle the problem of inconsistency of information more effectively.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to examine the effects of coworker incivility on employees' behaviors using a moderated mediation model that conceptualizes coworker exchange (CWX) as a mediator and servant leadership as a moderator.
Design/methodology/approach
The data were collected using a multi-temporal research design. The hypotheses were tested on a sample of 1,272 participants using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), hierarchical regression analysis and moderated path analysis. In addition, supervisor incivility was added as a control variable to partial out the potential influence on employees' behaviors.
Findings
The results of CFA ensured that all measures had discriminant and convergent validity. In addition, the results of hierarchical regression analysis and moderated path analysis indicated that CWX mediates the relationship between coworker incivility and employees' behaviors. Furthermore, servant leadership exacerbates the negative relationship between coworker incivility and CWX.
Practical implications
Leaders and practitioners should invest in communication training programs for developing employees' communication skills to avoid incivility. In addition to viewing incivility as inappropriate behavior, leaders and practitioners should understand the meaning beyond those incivilities.
Originality/value
This study utilized incivility spiral theory to examine how coworker incivility affects employees' behaviors. The mediated path analysis found that CWX mediates the relationship between these variables, which has been ignored by previous research. Furthermore, this study introduced servant leadership as a moderator to account for the “when” in incivility spiral theory, i.e. what kind of social context facilitates or inhibits the influence of coworker incivility on CWX.

To analyze the current situation of the Hong Kong textile and clothing industries; to investigate the influential factors that can assist Hong Kong to develop as Asia's fashion hub; and to plan for the future development of Hong Kong as a regional centre for fashion.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper provides an overview of the Hong Kong textile and clothing industries by using the SWOT analysis. Based on the findings of the analysis, some recommendations for future development are provided. The sources of this study are from the government publications, journal articles, book reviews and advice of practitioners.
Findings
The Hong Kong textile and clothing industries have their strengths and weaknesses. To be a regional centre for fashion, developing an original brand manufacturing (OBM) business is a preferred approach.
Research limitation/implication
This paper provides a general review of the Hong Kong textile and clothing industries. To gain a more in‐depth understanding of the industries and to explore some more solutions for the research problems, it is important to further investigate these issues by attempting in‐depth interviews with the Hong Kong textile and clothing industrialists.
Practical implications
This paper provides a very useful source of information and impartial advice for the Government, industry players, academic institutions and the media. The formation of Asia's fashion hub is dependent upon the cooperation and effort of these four parties.
Originality/value
This paper analyses some of the factors contributing to Hong Kong's success and draws conclusions on strategic directions for the sustainability.

Purpose
In the vibration reduction field, constrained stand-off layer damping cylindrical shell plays an important role. However, due to the lack of accurate analysis of its damping characteristics, this hinders its further research and application. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is concerned with an accurate solution for the vibration-damping characteristics of a constrained stand-off-layer damping cylindrical shell (CSDCS) under various classical boundary conditions and conducts a further analysis.
Design/methodology/approach
Based on the Rayleigh–Ritz method and the Hamilton principle, a dynamic model of CSDCS is established. Then the loss factor and the frequency of CSDCS are obtained. The correctness and convergence behavior of the present model are verified by comparing the calculation results with the literature. By using for various classical boundary conditions without any special modifications in the solution procedure, the characteristics of CSDCS with S-S, C-C, C-S, C-F and S-F boundaries are discussed.
Findings
The Rayleigh–Ritz method is effective in handling the problem of CSDCS with different boundaries and an accurate solution is obtained. The boundary conditions have an important influence on the vibration and damping behavior of the CSDCS.
Originality/value
Based on the Rayleigh–Ritz method and Hamilton principle, a dynamic model of CSDCS is established for the first time, and then the loss factor and frequency of CSDCS are obtained. In addition, the effectiveness of adding the stand-off layer between the base shell and the viscoelastic layer is confirmed by discussing the characteristics of CSDCS with S-S, C-C, C-S, C-F and S-F boundaries.

Purpose
Telecommunication (telecom) fraud is one of the most common crimes and causes the greatest financial losses. To effectively eradicate fraud groups, the key fraudsters must be identified and captured. One strategy is to analyze the fraud interaction network using social network analysis. However, the underlying structures of fraud networks are different from those of common social networks, which makes traditional indicators such as centrality not directly applicable. Recently, a new line of research called deep random walk has emerged. These methods utilize random walks to explore local information and then apply deep learning algorithms to learn the representative feature vectors. Although effective for many types of networks, random walk is used for discovering local structural equivalence and does not consider the global properties of nodes.
Design/methodology/approach
The authors proposed a new method to combine the merits of deep random walk and social network analysis, which is called centrality-guided deep random walk. By using the centrality of nodes as edge weights, the authors’ biased random walks implicitly consider the global importance of nodes and can thus find key fraudster roles more accurately. To evaluate the authors’ algorithm, a real telecom fraud data set with around 562 fraudsters was built, which is the largest telecom fraud network to date.
Findings
The authors’ proposed method achieved better results than traditional centrality indices and various deep random walk algorithms and successfully identified key roles in a fraud network.
Research limitations/implications
The study used co-offending and flight record to construct a criminal network, more interpersonal relationships of fraudsters, such as friendships and relatives, can be included in the future.
Originality/value
This paper proposed a novel algorithm, centrality-guided deep random walk, and applied it to a new telecom fraud data set. Experimental results show that the authors’ method can successfully identify the key roles in a fraud group and outperform other baseline methods. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, it is the largest analysis of telecom fraud network to date.

Abstract
Understanding whistleblowing behavior by identifying preferred reporting channels and associated personality characteristics can aid organizations in their attempts to encourage whistleblowing. The authors investigate whether both Dark Triad characteristics and gender affect whistleblowing intentions and whistleblowing channel preferences. Using a sample of undergraduate business students, the authors find individuals with higher levels of Dark Triad personality characteristics indicate that they are less likely to blow the whistle than individuals with lower levels of Dark Triad personality characteristics. They are also more likely to use non-anonymous channels over anonymous channels and individuals with lower levels of Dark Triad personality characteristics show the opposite channel preference. The authors also find women more likely to report, and when reporting, they prefer anonymous over non-anonymous channels. The results provide support for organizations in cultivating an organizational culture that promotes communication among employees and potentially includes incentives to promote whistleblowing.

Purpose
The globalization of market and production activities with unequal distribution of market demand and resources has accelerated the demand for shipping services. Public concerns about environmental issues and the impacts of shipping service providers’ green shipping practices (GSPs) on the reputation and performance of multinational companies (MNCs) motivated the authors to test the impact of shipping companies’ GSPs on MNCs’ loyalty by considering timeliness and perceived value as moderators. The paper aims to discuss this issue.
Design/methodology/approach
The data were collected from 141 MNCs and analyzed using the partial least squares technique.
Findings
The results show that company policy and procedure, shipping documentation, shipping equipment and shipping materials have significant effects on MNCs’ loyalty. Furthermore, timeliness positively moderates the impacts of shipping materials and shipping design on compliance, while perceived value positively moderates the effects of shipping equipment and shipping design for compliance on MNCs’ loyalty.
Practical implications
The results provide insight for shipping service providers on GSPs that may lead to MNCs’ loyalty by considering the roles of lead time and freight rate.
Originality/value
The results extend the literature by testing empirically the impacts of GSP of shipping companies on MNCs’ loyalty and also by investigating the moderating impacts of perceived value and timeliness.

Purpose
In real manufacturing systems, schedules are often disrupted with uncertainty factors such as random machine breakdown, random process time, random job arrivals or job cancellations. This paper aims to investigate robust scheduling for a two-stage assembly flow shop scheduling with random machine breakdowns and considers two objectives makespan and robustness simultaneously.
Design/methodology/approach
Owing to its structural and algorithmic complexity, the authors proposed imperialist competitive algorithm (ICA), genetic algorithm (GA) and hybridized with simulation techniques for handling these complexities. For better efficiency of the proposed algorithms, the authors used artificial neural network (ANN) to predict the parameters of the proposed algorithms in uncertain condition. Also Taguchi method is applied for analyzing the effect of the parameters of the problem on each other and quality of solutions.
Findings
Finally, experimental study and analysis of variance (ANOVA) is done to investigate the effect of different proposed measures on the performance of the obtained results. ANOVA's results indicate the job and weight of makespan factors have a significant impact on the robustness of the proposed meta-heuristics algorithms. Also, it is obvious that the most effective parameter on the robustness for GA and ICA is job.
Originality/value
Robustness is calculated by the expected value of the relative difference between the deterministic and actual makespan.
