Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to investigate the influences of extruder temperatures and raster orientations on the mechanical properties of polylactic-acid (PLA) material processed by using fused filament fabrication (FFF).
Design/methodology/approach
In this research, the PLA specimens were first printed with nozzle or extruder temperatures of 205°C, 215°C and 225°C and then evaluated in terms of their physical, chemical and mechanical properties. An appropriate extruder temperature was then selected based on this experiment and used for the printing of the other PLA specimens having various raster orientations. A series of tensile tests were carried out again to investigate the influence of raster orientations on the tensile strength, tensile strain and elastic modulus of those FFF-processed PLA materials. In the end, the one-way ANOVA was applied for the statistical analysis and the Mohr’s circle was established to aid in the analysis of the data obtained in this experiment.
Findings
The result of this study shows that the chemistry, porosity, degree of crystallinity and mechanical properties (tensile strength, strain and elastic modulus) of the PLA material printed with a raster angle of 0° were all insensitive to the increasing extruder temperature from 205°C to 225°C. Meanwhile, the mechanical properties of such printed PLA material were obviously influenced by its raster orientation. In this case, a PLA material with a raster orientation parallel to its loading axis, i.e. those with a raster angle of θ = 0°, was found as the strongest material. Meanwhile, the raster configuration-oriented perpendicular to its loading axis or θ = 90° yielded the weakest PLA material. The results of the tensile tests for the PLA material printed with bidirectional raster orientations, i.e. θ = 0°/90° and 45°/−45° demonstrated their strengths with values falling between those of the materials having unidirectional raster θ = 0° and 90°. Furthermore, the result of the analysis by using a well-known Mohr’s circle confirmed the experimental tensile strengths and the failure mechanisms of the PLA material that had been printed with various raster orientations.
Originality/value
This study presented consistent results on the chemistry, physical, degree of crystallinity and mechanical properties of the FFF-processed PLA in responding to the increasing extruder temperature from 205°C to 225°C applied during the printing process. Unlike the results of the previous studies, all these properties were also found to be insensitive to the increase of extruder temperature. Also, the result of this research demonstrates the usability of Mohr’s circle in the analysis of stresses working on an FFF-processed PLA material in responding to the changes in raster orientation printed in this material.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to describe how creative thinking ability could be improved through correcting the thinking schemata using cool-critical-creative-meaningful (3CM) learning model.
Design/methodology/approach
This study implemented mixed methods with explanatory sequential, which means a study that was conducted by collecting quantitative and qualitative data, consecutively. The creative thinking ability was measured through tests and then triangulated with the student teachers answers in the interviews. The qualitative data consisted of creative thinking schemata that were collected with task analysis and think aloud method. The data were analyzed in two stages. Quantitative data analysis was used to identify the effectiveness of 3CM learning. Qualitative data analysis was conducted using Miles and Huberman’s analysis.
Findings
The findings presented that 3CM learning model is significantly effective to improve the creative thinking ability of pre-service primary teacher; students with formal, content and linguistic schemata that are good and complete will also have good mathematical creative thinking ability; the mathematical creative thinking ability of student is determined by the completeness of their schemata; and a good and complete schemata (formal, content and linguistic) will help the students to produce several problem-solving alternatives.
Research limitations/implications
Because of the chosen research approach, the research results may lack generalizability. Therefore, researchers are encouraged to test the proposed propositions further.
Practical implications
The results of this study suggest lecturers to give their students a great opportunity to develop their creativity in solving mathematical problems. Lecturers could give the students the opportunity to think systematically by beginning by criticizing the interesting contextual problems and ending with meaningful reflection with adequate learning resources.
Originality/value
3CM learning model is a model that is proven to be effective in helping the students in shaping the thinking schemata well and able to improve the creative thinking ability of the students.

Many Indonesian operators generally have a tendency to keep their aircraft in service up to or even beyond their economic design goal life (EDGL). The problem that should be solved by the operators is how to operate those ageing aircraft safely and economically. The combination of fatigue and corrosion phenomena needs vigorously corrective action to meet airworthiness requirements, though it increases costs in maintenance. Since corrosion is a never‐ending problem, the aviation community such as designer, manufacturer, operator and the regulatory authority has an obligation to be more concerned and proactive in ensuring continuous airworthiness of the ageing aircraft. Aims to assess issues on corrosion prevention and control activities conducted by Indonesian operators, discusses all the facts and possible corrective actions and provides recommendations to maintain and ensure safe operation of ageing aircraft by controlling and preventing corrosion as well as metal fatigue.

Abstract
Purpose
From 2000 to 2021, the Malaysian corruption perception index demonstrated a declining tendency, identifying Malaysia as a highly corrupt nation. Corruption in the nation has become a social cancer that has impacted the workplace and political climate. Using Dewey’s (1937) theory of education and social change, this paper argues that anti-corruption education is a tool for reforming the corruption culture of a nation. Consequently, the purpose of this study is to explore and understand the current anti-corruption education in Malaysian educational institutions.
Design/methodology/approach
The results of this study were derived from a qualitative content analysis of 20 Google News articles, an interview with the sole implementation agency, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and a literature assessment of MACC publications. Due to a dearth of preceding study and journal publications on the topic, this type of qualitative content analysis of news has been applied in prior studies.
Findings
The results indicate that anti-corruption education has been implemented in the primary, secondary and higher education institutions in Malaysia. Nonetheless, the concept and implementation are inadequate, superficial and insufficient. The analysis advises more inclusive techniques for delivering anti-corruption education for social transformation.
Originality/value
Prior research has focussed on laws and regulations to prosecute the corrupt, but has underrated the ability of education to alter the corruption culture. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first journal paper, written on anti-corruption education in Malaysia. This study sets the way for further anti-corruption education studies in the future. This line of research will provide insights for the nation’s policymaking, which aims to create a nation free of corruption and capable of sustaining itself.

Purpose
Student engagement is a multifaceted concept that directly impacts students and their education. The purpose of this paper is to discuss student engagement conceptually by offering a framework to better understand the deliverables of engagement in the form of generic and targeted outcomes.
Design/methodology/approach
The design of the study is based on a detailed literature review, to identify different types of engagement which graduates are expected to experience during their higher education studies. These types of engagement(s) are mapped with their outcomes.
Findings
The findings of this study would be an analysis of relevant studies to create an outcome-oriented conceptual framework for student engagement.
Practical implications
The practical implications of the study would be to provide a guide for enhancing student engagement through which both generic competencies and higher order competencies of students may be augmented.
Originality/value
The available literature suggests that many students lack focus when learning on campus, especially in meeting targeted outcomes, and do not engage in the community. The current study has incorporated generic and targeted outcomes expected as a result of the different types of engagement. The study has put forward certain propositions, suggesting new dimensions of research in the domain of student engagement.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to study the effect of feeding scheme on melt flow and temperature field during the steady-state of level-pour direct-chill (DC) casting of A390 alloy hollow billet and optimize the design of feeding scheme.
Design/methodology/approach
Melt flow and temperature field are investigated by numerical simulation, which is based on a three-dimensional mathematical model and well verified by experiments.
Findings
The numerical results reveal that both melt flow and temperature field are obviously affected by the feeding scheme. The homogeneity of melt flow and temperature field in hollow billet with the feeding scheme of modified four inlets are better than the other feeding schemes. Experimental results show that crack can be eliminated by increasing the number of feeding inlets. The primary Si size appears unaffected while the distribution of primary Si particles is highly affected by the change of feeding scheme. Only with the feeding scheme of modified four inlets can fine and uniformly distributed primary Si particles be achieved.
Practical implications
The paper includes implications for the design of feeding scheme in level-pour DC casting of hollow billet for practical use.
Originality/value
This paper develops different feeding schemes for level-pour DC casting of hollow billet and optimizes the design of feeding scheme.

Purpose
This study aims to examine whether a text stimulus could enhance students' imagination and thus enhance their creativity in the architectural design studio. The assumption is that adopting the text stimulus in the conceptual design stage would support students' imagination through a nonlinear design process, and ultimately produce the creative values of design outcomes.
Design/methodology/approach
A curriculum that adopts a text stimulus was developed and used for first-year university students. The aim was to implement an architectural setting to stimulate students' imagination with a framework for creativity evaluation. The study focused not only on the design process that characterizes the generation of concepts and ideas, but also on the processes related to the creative practices that students need for developing their own expression methods to solve problems they encounter.
Findings
The results show that design education that emphasizes the imaginary could enhance students' creative thinking, thus leading to creative design. As a training tool in the design studio, the diversity of interpretation following the text stimulus was revealed to provoke a nonlinear design process and to eventually enhance students' originality, differential and inventiveness, which are associated with the creativity criteria for evaluation.
Originality/value
The study explores the translation of imaginary spaces from text into spatial design as a conceptual tool in order to characterize and support creativity throughout design education in the architectural design studio.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to investigate the bending behaviour of three-dimensional (3D) thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) structures printed onto the fabric.
Design/methodology/approach
TPU parts with varying infill patterns and raster angles were 3D-printed onto both woven and knitted fabrics. The resulting hybrid structures’ bending behaviours were evaluated using three test methods: cantilever bending, three-point bending and circular compression. Besides, both sides of the hybrid structures were tested to capture the influence of test direction.
Findings
The fabric structure is effective on adhesion force and greater values were observed for woven fabrics. The infill structures, raster angle and test directions were observed effective on the bending behaviour of the hybrid structures. The 45° raster angle resulted in greater bending resistance in three test methods. For knitted fabric structures, gyroid infill generally exhibits superior bending resistance. A case of fabricating a personal elbow brace for cubital tunnel syndrome was also introduced.
Originality/value
This study provides experimental information about the effects of 3D printing parameters on the bending behaviour of the hybrid structures and supports the development of special-purpose designs with tailored functionalities for various applications.

Purpose
This paper aims to explore how Indonesian males who are entrepreneurs in make-up artists navigate their businesses in a society that relies on hegemonic masculinity. This goal is reached by concentrating on male make-up artist entrepreneurs in five Indonesian provinces and investigating how they actively rewrite their gender and inherent vocations by societal norms.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper adopts a qualitative phenomenological approach with methods. In-depth interviews and observations were conducted with 28 informants in five provinces of Indonesia.
Findings
These findings show that, aside from self-concept, family support is the most crucial determining factor that pushes men make-up artists to become businesses in the face of so many rejections. Persistence in battling for their fate is also critical in efforts to erase themselves, who are constantly subjected to hegemonic masculinity. Aside from that, it appears that the government's role in attempts to promote gender equality in all fields of business in Indonesia remains limited.
Originality/value
This paper contributes to the gender and entrepreneurship literature by providing a broader exploration of male entrepreneurs working in the field of female make-up artists in a society that still adheres to hegemonic masculinity.
