Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to explore the factors affecting the job satisfaction level of paraprofessional staff working in Higher Education Commission (HEC)-recognized public and private sector university libraries.
Design/methodology/approach
The study was quantitative in nature, and survey research method was used. The population of the study was paraprofessionals working in HEC-recognized public and private university central libraries of Lahore. Convenient sampling was used, and five respondents were selected from each university. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire using a pre-developed scale job satisfaction survey by Spector (1985).
Findings
The study reported that respondents were not dissatisfied with their jobs, and still they were standing between “Neutral” and “agree” with all statements of job satisfaction. The nature of job was identified as the most satisfied facet of job satisfaction. It was also observed that a significant difference of job satisfaction was found among respondents having different salary packages. The group with the highest salary was more satisfied than others. Job security proved the factor affecting job satisfaction, as there was significant difference of job satisfaction between permanent and contract-based employees. Permanent nature of job was a reason of satisfaction for the respondents. However, it is interesting that job satisfaction level of public and private sector paraprofessionals did not differ.
Research limitations/implications
Findings of the study clarify that the universities are required to redesign their job recruitment policies and to revise pay scales of paraprofessionals. Most importantly, a gap in communication was also found within organizations which could affect the level of job satisfaction among paraprofessionals. Universities should pay attention to maintain the two-way communication flow from top level management to lower level.
Originality/value
This is probably first study reported from Pakistan on the subject. The findings of the study will help universities to redesign their job recruitment policies and to revise pay scales of paraprofessionals. Most importantly, the findings suggest that universities should pay attention to maintain the two-way communication flow from top level management to lower level.

Abstract
Purpose
In the age of global warming where there is a need to go green in various sectors of life, it is also an urgent need for different IT industries and companies to incorporate green agenda. The green agenda is also dependent on human behavior. Therefore, it is equally important to explore the factors that positively affect green computing behavior. In this regard, contextual considerations are important. Thus, the purpose of this study is to explore the green computing intent and behavior of heavy IT users, i.e. librarians underpinning the theory of planned behavior.
Design/methodology/approach
The study was based on a quantitative research design. A total of 181 survey-based online questionnaires were filled by Pakistani university librarians. The proposed hypothetical model was tested using structural equation modeling in SmartPLS v3.2.
Findings
The study findings confirm that attitude and perceived behavioral control have a significant positive impact on the intention to adopt green computing behavior (GC behavior) among academic librarians. The findings further reveal that green computing awareness proved a strong predictor of green computing behavior, as it not only affects GC behavior but also impacts positively on attitude and perceived behavioral control that ultimately affects GC behavior through intention.
Originality/value
The study argues that green computing behavior is dependent on several predictors that can be deployed to develop a positive behavior towards green computing. The study is important as it is the first time conducted on one of the heavy IT user groups, i.e. librarians.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to examine outcome of activation energy in rotating flow of an Oldroyd-B nano liquid.
Design/methodology/approach
Flow is generated due to stretched surface. Binary chemical reaction is studied. Brownian and thermophoresis effects are considered. The system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations is derived. Convergent series solutions are obtained by homotopy analysis method. The resulting expressions for velocities, temperature and concentration are computed for different embedded parameters.
Findings
It is found that velocities f′ and g have decreasing effect when rotation parameter is enhanced. Brownian and thermophoresis are increasing functions of temperature and concentration. The physical quantities are sketched and discussed numerically. Concentration and temperature fields show decreasing behavior via Brownian and thermophoresis parameters.
Originality/value
Authors investigate the Rotating flow of Oldroyd-B nano fluid with chemical reactions. This work is not done yet in literature.

Abstract
Purpose
This study examines the possibility of asymmetric impact of inflation on the financial development (FD) in the case of Indian economy from 1980 to 2020. Moreover, the finance–growth hypothesis is also tested.
Design/methodology/approach
The authors incorporated the “Nonlinear Autoregressive Distributed Lag” (NARDL) model due to Shin et al. (2014) to investigate the asymmetric impact of inflation on financial development. Asymmetric cumulative dynamic multipliers are also used to track the traverse of any short-run distortion towards the long-run cointegration.
Findings
The results revealed that inflation impacts the financial development negatively whereas the economic growth (EG) and trade openness have a positive effect. However, the effect of inflation on financial development is not symmetric. Moreover, the findings support the demand-led growth hypothesis.
Originality/value
To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first study examining the asymmetric effects of inflation on financial development in the Indian context. In addition, instead of using a single proxy to measure financial development, an index for financial development encompassing different aspects of the financial system has been incorporated.

Abstract
Purpose
Investigation for convective flow of water-based nanofluid (composed of ferric oxide asnanoparticles) by curved stretching sheet of variable thickness is made. Bejan number andentropy generation analysis is presented in presence of viscous dissipation, mixed convectionand porous medium.
Design/methodology/approach
In this paper, by using NDSolve of MATHEMATICA, the nonlinear system of equations is solved. Velocity, temperature, Bejan number and entropy generation for involved dimensionless variables are discussed.
Findings
Increase in velocity is depicted for larger curvature parameter, and opposite trend is witnessed for higher nanoparticle volume concentration. Enhancement in temperature is seen for higher Eckert number while reverse behavior is noticed for larger curvature parameter. Entropy rate increases for variation of curvature parameter, Brinkman number and nanoparticle volume fraction. Bejan number decays for mixed convection and curvature parameters.
Originality/value
To the authors’ knowledge, there exists no study yet which describes flow by curved sheet of variable thickness. Such consideration with nanoparticles seems important task. Thus, the main objective here is to determine entropy generation in ferromagnetic nanofluid flow due to variable thickened curved stretching surface. Additionally, effects of Joule heating, porous medium, mixed convection and viscous dissipation are taken into account.

Abstract
Purpose
The training needs assessment is a significant activity for the training and development function. A human resource generalist or a specialist should be proficient in performing a training needs assessment. The purpose of this paper is to explain the training and development function in the Islamic banking sector and how the needs assessment of Islamic banking fits into the process, followed by an in‐depth look at the core concepts and levels involved in conducting a training needs assessment.
Design/methodology/approach
A research design is the structure for investigation and way of answering the research question. The authors have conducted this research under the umbrella of quantitative paradigm, using the cross‐sectional way of obtaining responses as it saves time and cost, and the strategy adopted for data collection was “survey questionnaire technique”. In this study, Performance Analysis. Job Analysis, Career Development and Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities were taken as independent variables and Training Needs Assessment as the dependent variable. The sample size of 100 employees was selected without any preference among the employees. Random sampling technique was used and appropriate stratification was undertaken to represent both male and female.
Findings
This study was conducted to know about training need assessment in Islamic banking in Pakistan. The authors found that the process of needs assessment identifies more than one training need; the training manager, working with management, prioritizes the training based on the urgency of the need (timeliness); the extent of the need (how many employees need to be trained); and the resources available. Also, the authors learned that training needs assessment is more crucial for performance analysis and for job analysis. Based on this information, the training manager can develop the instructional objectives for the training and development program.
Originality/value
The paper's findings will be beneficial for the training and development sector of Islamic banking. The results of the study would help training and development practitioners, showing how better planning and implementation of the training need assessment process could save their costs and time.
