Abstract
Presents a view of the combinations of the levels of social, political, economical, cultural and technological (SPECT) factors at different points in time pertaining to a human society (or a country) to gain a perspective of the development process. In this direction, a system called SPECT has been recognized in the form of a cybernetic system which is defined by the elements of which it is composed, and by the mutual relations among them. In the broad sense, a set defines the levels of input elements of SPECT factors at a particular point in time; and another set includes the rules of operation, inter‐relationships and its relationship with the external environment. Further, considers a coupling between two SPECT systems in respect of the two societies (or countries) and the vector space properties used for their analysis.

Abstract
Purpose
The chapter explores how gender has been an integral part of the nation building project in post-liberalisation Hindi cinema, popularly, known as Bollywood.
Design/methodology/approach
This chapter is based on primary data gathered through interviews with prominent members of the Hindi film industry along with a detailed content analysis of commercially successful post-liberalisation mainstream Hindi films.
Findings
It highlights how the representation of gender has been a central axis around which the tension between tradition and modernity has been played out in Hindi Cinema. The construction of Indianness post-liberalisation has questioned gender politics but proposed easy resolutions which fit into the larger nationalist narrative. In doing so, it has used the diaspora as a category to produce a nationalist account which is simultaneously essentialised and transnational in the quest for projecting India’s aspirations on the global platform.
Originality/value
The chapter provides important insights into the role of popular Hindi cinema, often brushed off as frivolous, in contributing to the mainstream discourse on nationalism post-liberalisation.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to discuss the suitability of topic modeling as a review method, identifies and compares the machine learning (ML) research trends in five primary business organization verticals.
Design/methodology/approach
This study presents a review framework of published research about adopting ML techniques in a business organization context. It identifies research trends and issues using topic modeling through the Latent Dirichlet allocation technique in conjunction with other text analysis techniques in five primary business verticals – human resources (HR), marketing, operations, strategy and finance.
Findings
The results identify that the ML adoption is maximum in the marketing domain and minimum in the HR domain. The operations domain witnesses the application of ML to the maximum number of distinct research areas. The results also help to identify the potential areas of ML applications in future.
Originality/value
This paper contributes to the existing literature by finding trends of ML applications in the business domain through the review of published research. Although there is a growth of research publications in ML in the business domain, literature review papers are scarce. Therefore, the endeavor of this study is to do a thorough review of the current status of ML applications in business by analyzing research articles published in the past ten years in various journals.
