Abstract
We develop a model to estimate salary-based premiums for pension benefit guarantees by simultaneously considering a stochastic interest rate and three practical pension plan termination conditions. We show the relationship among premium rates, a plan’s funding level, sponsoring firm’s capital position, early lapse, and a participant’s years of service. We also show how the regulatory intervention policy interacts with a plan’s funding level and a sponsor’s capital position and how it affects the pension insurance cost.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to examine the impacts of capital regulation and market discipline when China imposed most of the Basel I requirements between 2004 and 2010.
Design/methodology/approach
Following Barrios and Blanco (2003) and Rime (2001), the authors apply disequilibrium and simultaneous measurements to identify the financial safety net underlying capital movements as well as the changes in credit risk levels in China’s banking sector.
Findings
The authors discover that capital regulation outweighs market discipline by an average probability of 0.65-0.35 in the contribution to bank capital movements when banks significantly improve their capital buffers. In addition, the banking sector lowered its risk levels in the sample period.
Research limitations/implications
The findings suggest that the largest bank-based economy has consolidated its financial system for future expansion.
Originality/value
China’s banking sector requires closer examination of capital and risks provided by its emerging significance in the financial world. Thus, this study contributes to current literature.

Abstract
Purpose
This study examined the link between abusive supervision and subordinates’ turnover intentions via job dissatisfaction. In addition, this study examined the moderating effect of continuance commitment in this process.
Design/methodology/approach
The authors collected three-wave time lagged data (N = 190) from the hospitality industry in China.
Findings
The analysis showed that abusive supervision predicts subordinates’ turnover intentions both directly and indirectly via job dissatisfaction. Moreover, continuance commitment was considered to be a boundary condition such that the mediated link was weaker when higher levels of continuance commitment were present.
Practical implications
This study explains how and when abusive supervision leads to turnover intentions in the hospitality industry. This study also helps hospitality managers to understand the abusive supervision prevalence and provide interventions that can reduce detrimental effects of abusive supervision in hospitality organizations.
Originality/value
Prior research examining the influence of supervisor abuse in hospitality organizations was scant. To bridge this noteworthy gap, this study examined the influence of abusive supervision in Chinese hospitality organizations. This study also discussed the theoretical and practical implications for the hospitality industry.

Abstract
Purpose
Drawing upon the feedback intervention theory, this study aims to focus on the concept of negative feedback change (increase or decrease) to analyze the dynamics of performance feedback and its relationships with goal orientation, feedback utility and task performance.
Design/methodology/approach
The authors conducted a two-wave survey by tracking 195 employees and their supervisors from two representative semiconductor-related equipment companies in China for one month.
Findings
Results showed that learning goal orientation positively moderates, and performance-approach goal orientation negatively moderates the indirect relationship between negative feedback change and employees’ task performance through employees’ perceptions of feedback utility.
Originality/value
This study provides new directions for performance feedback research by treating negative feedback from a dynamic perspective and addressing the mediating and moderating mechanisms. Furthermore, the findings also remind managers to not only consider feedback actions at a single moment but also manage it as a series of actions in the ongoing stream of time.

Abstract
This empirical study investigated the relationships among leisure behaviors and life satisfaction of Thai labors in Taiwan. Convenience sampling and several statistical techniques were adopted. The key findings were (1) Leisure preference, participation, constraint, satisfaction, and overall life satisfaction are influenced by one's socioeconomic background. (2) Because of living in a new country, Thai labors' past and current leisure participations although are strongly related, they are different. In addition, the relation between their leisure preference and participation was found significant when living in Thailand but not when living in Taiwan. (3) The constraints preventing Thai labors from participating in leisure activities in Taiwan were found. They significantly reduced one's leisure participation and satisfaction. (4) A positive relationship between Thai labors' leisure participation and leisure satisfaction in Taiwan was found along with the finding that their leisure satisfaction was also positively related to their life satisfaction.
