Abstract
Purpose
Supply chain integration (SCI) is key to implementing omni-channel retailing (OCR) strategy. In this paper, the authors explore the role of digitalization as a driver of SCI, as well the role of human capital (HC) in digitalization, using a knowledge management (KM) perspective.
Design/methodology/approach
An empirical study was conducted using survey research. A sample of 188 omni-channel retailers in the Chinese market was analyzed using factor analysis and structured equation modeling (SEM) to examine the hypotheses presented in the conceptual model.
Findings
This study reveals that HC is positively related to the level of a firm's digitalization in OCR, and that digitalization is positively related to the retailer's SCI. Moreover, the authors found that employees' capital has a greater impact on digitalization than managers' capital, while digitalization has a stronger driving effect on internal and customer integration.
Research limitations/implications
The findings suggest that although digitalization requires retailers to accept the long-term investment challenges, it has a significant positive effect on the key of OCR strategy implementation, i.e. SCI. The findings also provide evidence for the application of KM in OCR, as this theoretical lens enriches our understanding of the phenomena of SCI in OCR and provides explanation to our results by linking digitalization and HC.
Originality/value
Digitalization is quantified and examined in OCR. Moreover, this study reveals the importance of HC on the implementation of digitalization and the different effects of digitalization on each dimension of SCI.

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to apply the dynamic capability view to identify relationships between human capital (HC), supply chain integration (SCI) and firm’s performance. It also examines the moderating effect of product variety (PV) on these relationships in the context of omni-channel retailing (OCR).
Design/methodology/approach
An empirical study was conducted based on survey research. In total, 230 retailers in China’s market adopting omni-channel strategy were surveyed to examine the hypotheses proposed in our conceptual model using statistical techniques.
Findings
This study reveals that HC has a positive impact on SCI, and the impact of employees’ capital is greater on the success of SCI than that of managers’ capital. Moreover, the results confirm that SCI facilitates the achievement of superior performance. Organization integration contributes the most to performance improvement in OCR. Additionally, this study identifies the positive moderating effect of PV on the relationship between HC and SCI, while the moderating effect is insignificant to the influence of SCI on performance.
Research limitations/implications
We obtained valuable insights for both academicians and practitioners. On the one hand, this could be an early attempt as an interdisciplinary study to empirically analyze supply chain management in OCR from human resource perspective. It reveals the importance of human resource management (HRM) and the contribution of SCI to OC retailers. Therefore, this study fills current research gaps. On the other hand, this study provides several practical insights to top management: the importance of improving an individual’s competency to sustain a retailer’s dynamic capability; and the importance of strengthening the organization’s integration to better achieve effective SCI in OCR. Additionally, this study proposes future research based on its limitations.
Originality/value
SCI is investigated in the context of OCR from the HRM perspective. Moreover, this study reveals the importance of HRM and discusses the moderator’s effect in OCR.

Abstract
Purpose
In the face of frequent supply chain disruptions, this study aims to identify the relationships between human capital (HC), digital supply chain practice (DSCP) and supply chain robustness and resilience (i.e. SCRO and SCRE).
Design/methodology/approach
To examine the proposed conceptual model based on the resource-based view and organizational information processing theory, an empirical study was conducted using a sample of Chinese manufacturers. Hierarchical regression is applied to understand the direct effect, mediating effect and moderating effect among HC, DSCP, SCRO, SCRE and digital culture.
Findings
The results reveal that HC positively influences digital maturity and supply chain resilience. DSCP positively affects both SCRO and SCRE. However, HC does not significantly influence the adoption of digital tools, and only employees’ capital has a positive relationship with SCRO. In addition, the moderating effect of digital culture on the relationship between HC and DSCP was examined.
Originality/value
As an early exploration of the relationships among HC, DSCP, SCRO and SCRE, this study enriches the literature by offering new insights and responding to the call for more empirical research and theoretical application. It emphasizes the importance of HC and DSCP as strategic resources and highlights the need for a digital culture to implement DSCP.

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to apply resource-based theory to identify the relationships between logistics integration capability, supply chain integration (SCI), and performance in the context of omni-channel retailing (OCR).
Design/methodology/approach
An empirical study was conducted based on a mixed methodology that integrates survey research and focus group. In total, 243 retailers in China have been surveyed to examine the hypotheses of the proposed conceptual model, and focus group discussion has been applied to interpret the results and identify the critical concerns on the implementation of omni-channel (OC) strategy.
Findings
This study reveals that the information integration capability and organization integration capability in logistics management significantly affects SCI, while the integrated supply chain has a greater significant influence on financial performance than operational performance to OC retailers. Moreover, a firm’s characteristics can be regarded as contextual factors influencing performance in OCR.
Research limitations/implications
The authors obtained valuable insights for both academics and practitioners based on the findings. On the one hand, this is an early attempt to empirically study SCI of OCR, revealing the importance of a firm’s nature in the performance. Therefore, this study fills a current research gap. On the other hand, this research provides top managers of OC retailers, particularly supply chain managers, the awareness of the importance of improving of organizational integration and human-resource management capability. Additionally, this study proposes future research based on its limitations.
Originality/value
SCI is investigated in the context of OCR from a logistics perspective. Moreover, this study reveals that the human-resource management and organization management are the main concerns in the implementation of OCR.

Purpose
The internal resistance of a single power lithium-ion battery is an important representation of its power characteristics. When the current flows through a single battery with high internal resistance, the amount of heat generated is relatively large, resulting in accelerated deterioration of the single power battery, further increasing the internal resistance, accelerating the deterioration of the single power battery with high internal resistance, and seriously affecting the endurance and safety performance of new energy vehicles. Therefore, this paper studies the mechanism and improvement plan of low internal resistance consistency of a single battery.
Design/methodology/approach
Addressing the issue of high internal resistance in lithium-ion batteries at the production site, we employed a full-factor analysis using a quality tree approach to examine raw materials, production equipment and processes. This enabled us to identify the root causes and subsequently improve the internal resistance of lithium-ion batteries through upgrades in equipment and process optimization.
Findings
Through the analysis and improvement of the internal resistance of power lithium-ion batteries, a comprehensive understanding of the internal resistance of the power lithium-ion battery has a comprehensive understanding of the influencing factors of power lithium-ion batteries. The use of power lithium-ion batteries on new energy vehicles has played a supporting role.

This study investigates the impact and role of digital twin technology in building automation (DTBA) from a sustainability viewpoint. It aims to enhance the understanding of how DTBA can boost efficiency, optimize quality and support sustainable practices in contemporary construction. By exploring the integration of DTBA with sustainable practices, the study seeks to demonstrate how DT can revolutionize building management and operations, leading to significant improvements in resource efficiency, environmental impact and overall operational excellence.
Design/methodology/approach
This research employs a bibliographic analysis and systematic review of 176 publications from the past five years (January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2023), focusing on the application and development of DTBA. The study methodically analyzes current trends, identifies research gaps and suggests future directions by synthesizing data from various studies, offering a comprehensive overview of the current state of DTBA research. The approach combines quantitative and qualitative analyses to provide robust insights into the advancements and challenges in the field.
Findings
The review identifies key development areas in DTBA, such as energy and environmental management, resource utilization within a circular economy and technology integration and interoperability. It highlights the necessity for further research to maximize DTBA’s potential in sustainable building automation. The findings suggest that while significant progress has been made, there is a critical need for innovations in data interoperability, predictive analytics and the integration of renewable energy sources to fully realize the benefits of DTBA in enhancing building sustainability.
Originality/value
This paper provides a thorough review of DTBA from a sustainability perspective, offering valuable insights into its current applications and future development potential. It serves as a crucial resource for researchers and practitioners looking to advance sustainable practices in the construction sector using DT technology. By bridging the gap between theoretical research and practical applications, the paper underscores the transformative potential of DTBA in driving sustainable development and provides a roadmap for future research and innovation in the field.

Purpose
This study introduces a novel approach to preventing construction quality problems by examining the complex interrelations among such issues. Recognizing the overlooked coupling between problems is essential, as it can exacerbate quality issues, triggering chain reactions that compromise project success. The research justifies its focus on these interrelations by highlighting the insufficiency of traditional quality management methods, which often fail to account for interconnected quality problems in the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry.
Design/methodology/approach
At the core of this research is the establishment of a knowledge base for construction quality issues, marking a pioneering effort to systematically organize unstructured textual data on construction quality problems and their interconnections. This base serves as a platform for the subsequent application of advanced analytical techniques. Specifically, the study leverages preprocessing, text similarity algorithms and association rule mining to dissect and illuminate the nuanced coupling relationships among construction quality issues, a facet not thoroughly explored in prior research.
Findings
The innovative analytical methodology employed here reveals significant insights into the dynamics of construction quality issue coupling. These insights not only deepen the understanding of these complex interactions but also guide the development of targeted intervention strategies. The practical applicability and effectiveness of the proposed approach are demonstrated using selected textual materials as experimental evidence. The findings show that understanding and addressing these couplings can significantly mitigate potential chain reactions of defects, thus enhancing overall project quality.
Originality/value
The originality of this study lies in its threefold contribution: the creation of a dedicated knowledge base for construction quality issues, the application of novel analytical methodologies to decipher coupling relationships and the extension of text analysis techniques to the realm of construction quality problem prevention. A zero-day vulnerability is a complimentary ticket to the attackers for gaining entry into the network. Thus, there is necessity to device appropriate threat detection systems and establish an innovative and safe solution that prevents unauthorised intrusions for defending various components of cybersecurity. We present a survey of recent Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) in detecting zero-day vulnerabilities based on the following dimensions: types of cyber-attacks, datasets used and kinds of network detection systems.
Purpose: The study focuses on presenting an exhaustive review on the effectiveness of the recent IDS with respect to zero-day vulnerabilities.
Methodology: Systematic exploration was done at the IEEE, Elsevier, Springer, RAID, ESCORICS, Google Scholar, and other relevant platforms of studies published in English between 2015 and 2021 using keywords and combinations of relevant terms.
Findings: It is possible to train IDS for zero-day attacks. The existing IDS have strengths that make them capable of effective detection against zero-day attacks. However, they display certain limitations that reduce their credibility. Novel strategies like deep learning, machine learning, fuzzing technique, runtime verification technique, and Hidden Markov Models can be used to design IDS to detect malicious traffic.
Implication: This paper explored and highlighted the advantages and limitations of existing IDS enabling the selection of best possible IDS to protect the system. Moreover, the comparison between signature-based and anomaly-based IDS exemplifies that one viable approach to accurately detect the zero-day vulnerabilities would be the integration of hybrid mechanism.

Abstract
Purpose
Because of the advantages of high deposition efficiency and low manufacturing cost compared with other additive technologies, robotic wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) technology has been widely applied for fabricating medium- to large-scale metallic components. The additive manufacturing (AM) method is a relatively complex process, which involves the workpiece modeling, conversion of the model file, slicing, path planning and so on. Then the structure is formed by the accumulated weld bead. However, the poor forming accuracy of WAAM usually leads to severe dimensional deviation between the as-built and the predesigned structures. This paper aims to propose a visual sensing technology and deep learning–assisted WAAM method for fabricating metallic structure, to simplify the complex WAAM process and improve the forming accuracy.
Design/methodology/approach
Instead of slicing of the workpiece modeling and generating all the welding torch paths in advance of the fabricating process, this method is carried out by adding the feature point regression branch into the Yolov5 algorithm, to detect the feature point from the images of the as-built structure. The coordinates of the feature points of each deposition layer can be calculated automatically. Then the welding torch trajectory for the next deposition layer is generated based on the position of feature point.
Findings
The mean average precision score of modified YOLOv5 detector is 99.5%. Two types of overhanging structures have been fabricated by the proposed method. The center contour error between the actual and theoretical is 0.56 and 0.27 mm in width direction, and 0.43 and 0.23 mm in height direction, respectively.
Originality/value
The fabrication of circular overhanging structures without using the complicate slicing strategy, turning table or other extra support verified the possibility of the robotic WAAM system with deep learning technology.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to investigate the impact of firms’ digital orientation (FDO) on corporate green innovation (CGI) among Chinese firms, examining the effects of financial constraint as the mediator and exploring heterogeneous effects across different firm contexts.
Design/methodology/approach
Using a sample of 28,697 firm-year observations from Chinese A-share listed companies (2008–2021), we employ a novel multidimensional measure of FDO derived from textual analysis of corporate annual reports. CGI is quantified using patent-based metrics. We utilize fixed-effects panel data models as benchmark regression to quantify FDO’s impact on CGI. Later, we utilize two-stage least squares, alternate measure for core explanatory variable, alternate as well as lead measures for explained variable and propensity score matching to tackle concerns for potential endogeneity.
Findings
Our results unveil a substantial positive connection between FDO and CGI. This connection is facilitated through the alleviation of financial constraints. Furthermore, heterogeneity analysis shows that the impact of FDO on CGI is more pronounced for state-owned enterprises, firms in areas with lower financial technology development and politically connected firms.
Practical implications
Our findings suggest that managers should view FDO as a strategic posture that can drive sustainable innovation, not just as a technological imperative. Policymakers should consider the role of FDO when designing policies to promote CGI, particularly in less-developed regions.
Originality/value
This study extends current understanding by: (1) Employing a comprehensive multidimensional measure of FDO that goes beyond the existing technologically focused digital transformation matrices. (2) Identifying financial constraints as a key mediating mechanism in the FDO–CGI relationship. (3) Revealing heterogeneous effects across different firm contexts, providing nuanced insights into how institutional and environmental factors moderate this relationship.
