Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to study the steady mixed convection flow over a vertical cone in the presence of surface mass transfer when the axis of the cone is inline with the flow.
Design/methodology/approach
In this case, the numerical difficulties to obtain the non‐similar solution are overcome by applying an implicit finite difference scheme in combination with the quasilinearization technique.
Findings
Numerical results are reported here to display the effects of Prandtl number, buoyancy and mass transfer (injection and suction) parameters at different stream‐wise locations on velocity and temperature profiles, and on skin friction and heat transfer coefficients.
Research limitations/implications
Thermo‐physical properties of the fluid in the flow model are assumed to be constant except the density variations causing a body force term in the momentum equation. The Boussinesq approximation is invoked for the fluid properties to relate the density changes to temperature changes and to couple in this way the temperature field to the flow field.
Practical implications
Convective heat transfer over a stationary cone is important for the thermal design of various types of industrial equipments such as heat exchangers, conisters for nuclear waste disposal, nuclear reactor cooling systems and geothermal reservoirs, etc.
Originality/value
The combined effects of thermal diffusion and surface mass transfer on a vertical cone has been studied.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to study the influence of thermally stratified medium on a free convection flow from a sphere, which is rotating about the vertical axis, immersed in a stably thermally stratified medium.
Design/methodology/approach
An implicit finite‐difference scheme in combination with the quasi‐linearization technique is applied to obtain the steady state non‐similar solutions of the governing boundary layer equations for flow and temperature fields.
Findings
The numerical results indicate that the heat transfer rate at the wall decreases significantly with an increasing thermal stratification parameter, but its effect on the skin friction coefficients is rather minimum. In fact, the presence of thermal stratification of the medium influences the heat transfer at wall to be in opposite direction, that is, from fluids to the wall above a certain height. The heat transfer rate increases but the skin frictions decrease with the increase of Prandtl number. In particular, the effect of buoyancy force is much more sensitive for low Prandtl number fluids (Pr = 0.7, air) than that of high Prandtl number fluids (Pr = 7, water). Also the skin friction in rotating direction is less sensitive to the buoyancy force as the buoyancy force acts in the streamwise direction for the present study of thermally stratified medium.
Research limitations/implications
The ambient temperature T∞∞ is assumed to increase linearly with height $h$. The viscous dissipation term, which is usually small for natural convection flows, has been neglected in the energy equation. The flow is assumed to be axi‐symmetric. The Boussinesq approximation is invoked for the fluid properties to relate density changes to temperature changes, and to couple in this way the temperature field to the flow field.
Practical implications
Free convection in a thermally stratified medium occurs in many environmental processes with temperature stratification, and in industrial applications within a closed chamber with heated walls. Also, free convections associated with heat rejection systems for long‐duration deep ocean powder modules where ocean environment is stratified are examples of such type.
Originality/value
The research presented in this paper investigates the free convection flow on a sphere, which is rotating with a constant angular velocity along its vertical axis in a stably thermally stratified fluid.

Abstract
The chapter discusses how adolescents are moving beyond the dichotomy of biological and linguistic socialization, forming interpretive meanings at home through the reading of literature in their mother tongue, Bengali. Involving cultural relevance and non-vulnerability, the chapter conceptualizes “leisure activities” and “leisure pursuits” of reading practice of the IXth and Xth graders from both Bengali and English medium schools in Kolkata. The discussion from the theoretical construction mentions the further conceptualization of reading habits and language choice. This is where adolescents derive their agency. Adolescents from the Indian and especially from the Bengali perspective have a path of colonial discourse. From historical standpoint, the change in Bengali language and its grammar structure has influenced the acceptance of Bengali literature among adolescents in varying degrees through generations. Using mixed methods and content analysis, the chapter focuses on young teenagers’ narration on the way they maneuver curriculum and literature in their respective homes. Authors, for example, Sunil Gangopadhyay, Satyajit Ray, and Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay, form the Bengali identity construction in the present time. Rabindranath Tagore’s, Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s and Bankim Chandra Chatterjee’s works are always prevalent in the Bengali language syllabus. These are considered the foundational modern literary figures of pre-independent India. These are taught from a nationalist and gender discourse perspective. The adolescents in this chapter also read those at a minimum level at home and attempt to juggle the difficult vocabulary involved. The simple language of post-independent literature is much sought after by teenagers compared to pre-independent literature. Sunil Gangopadhyay’s Kakababu series, Satyajit Ray’s Feluda and Professor Shanku series, and Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay’s Chander Pahar stand out among the adolescents from both English and Bengali medium unanimously in this chapter.

Purpose
Managing project completion within the stipulated time is significant to all firms' sustainability. Especially for software start-up firms, it is of utmost importance. For any schedule variation, these firms must spend 25 to 40 percent of the development cost reworking quality defects. Significantly, the existing literature does not support defect rework opportunities under quality aspects among Indian IT start-ups. The present study aims to fill this niche by proposing a unique mathematical model of the defect rework aligned with the Six Sigma quality approach.
Design/methodology/approach
An optimization model was formulated, comprising the two objectives: rework “time” and rework “cost.” A case study was developed in relevance, and for the model solution, we used MATLAB and an elitist, Nondominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm (NSGA-II).
Findings
The output of the proposed approach reduced the “time” by 31 percent at a minimum “cost”. The derived “Pareto Optimal” front can be used to estimate the “cost” for a pre-determined rework “time” and vice versa, thus adding value to the existing literature.
Research limitations/implications
This work has deployed a decision tree for defect prediction, but it is often criticized for overfitting. This is one of the limitations of this paper. Apart from this, comparing the predicted defect count with other prediction models hasn’t been attempted. NSGA-II has been applied to solve the optimization problem; however, the optimal results obtained have yet to be compared with other algorithms. Further study is envisaged.
Practical implications
The Pareto front provides an effective visual aid for managers to compare multiple strategies to decide the best possible rework “cost” and “time” for their projects. It is beneficial for cost-sensitive start-ups to estimate the rework “cost” and “time” to negotiate with their customers effectively.
Originality/value
This paper proposes a novel quality management framework under the Six Sigma approach, which integrates optimization of critical metrics. As part of this study, a unique mathematical model of the software defect rework process was developed (combined with the proposed framework) to obtain the optimal solution for the perennial problem of schedule slippage in the rework process of software development.

Purpose
The purpose of this investigation is to determine the nature of the flow field, temperature distribution and heat and mass transfer in a triangular solar collector enclosure with a corrugated bottom wall in the unsteady condition numerically.
Design/methodology/approach
Non-linear governing partial differential equations (i.e. mass, momentum, energy and concentration equations) are transformed into a system of integral equations by applying the Galerkin weighted residual method. The integration involved in each of these terms is performed using Gauss’ quadrature method. The resulting non-linear algebraic equations are modified by the imposition of boundary conditions. Finally, Newton’s method is used to modify non-linear equations into the linear algebraic equations.
Findings
Both the buoyancy ratio and thermal Rayleigh number play an important role in controlling the mode of heat transfer and mass transfer.
Originality/value
Calculations are performed for various thermal Rayleigh numbers, buoyancy ratios and time periods. For each specific condition, streamline contours, isotherm contours and iso-concentration contours are obtained, and the variation in the overall Nusselt and Sherwood numbers is identified for different parameter combinations.

Purpose
Through a critical reading of a twentieth-century Bengali artist’s autobiography, this paper aims to attempt to demonstrate how commercial art and the consumption ethos symbolized by that art represented an archetypal bhadralok insignia. A close examination of this insignia reveals how the dynamics of modern liberal values mediating through the colonial capitalist structure in relation to the regional particularities of Bengal opened up a new space of cosmopolitanism, where there is an attempt to reframe cultural practices in the light of a broader global history of interrogation, reason, change and emancipation.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper is a historical analysis of primary sources.
Findings
It was found that the bhadralok-led Bengal School of Art influenced commercial art of early postcolonial Bengal.

The study is limited to the region of Bengal.

Case overview
The present case study deals with the marketing strategies of Punascha (meaning re-beginning), a publisher of Bengali non-textbooks based in Kolkata, India. This case is suitable for teaching in Marketing Management course in a Post Graduate Program in Business Management. It could also be taken up for an executive program in marketing strategy. The case study is a live case study, which was based on in-depth interviews with the company people and company site visit. The case study discusses how Punascha started from a humble beginning in 1988 and became one of the leading publishers of Bengali books in India. The key focus of the case is on how a company can use marketing tools effectively (and uniquely) and become successful.

Abstract
Purpose
The study aims to shed light on the current state of “Dataset repositories” indexed in Directory of Open Access Repositories (OpenDOAR).
Design/methodology/approach
From each repository/record information, the Open-Access Policies, Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH), year of creation and the number of data sets archived in the repositories were manually searched, documented and analyzed.
Findings
Developed countries like the United Kingdom and the USA are primarily involved in the development of institutional open-access repositories comprising significant components of OpenDOAR. The most extensively used software is DSpace. Most data set archives are OAI-PMH compliant but do not follow open-access rules. The study also highlights the sites’ embrace of Web 2.0 capabilities and discovers really simple syndication feeds and Atom integration. The use of social media has made its presence known. Furthermore, the study concludes that the number of data sets kept in repositories is insufficient, although the expansion of such repositories has been consistent over the years.
Practical implications
The work has the potential to benefit both researchers in general and policymakers in particular. Scholars interested in research data, data sharing and data reuse can learn about the present state of repositories that preserve data sets in OpenDOAR. At the same time, policymakers can develop recommendations and policies to assist in the construction and maintenance of repositories for data sets.
Originality/value
According to the literature, there have been numerous studies on open-access repositories and OpenDOAR internationally, but no research has focused on repositories preserving content-type data sets. As a result, the study attempts to uncover various characteristics of OpenDOAR Data set repositories.
