Abstract
Purpose
The main purpose of this paper is to discuss findings from original research conducted on barriers in work-related settings for PwID and how to detach those challenges from medical diagnoses.
Design/methodology/approach
Data on impairments, barriers and possible solutions was collected through semi-structured interviews with PwID using an interview guide based on the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health. The data collected was analysed using qualitative content analysis.
Findings
Videocall programs, passwords, lack of social contacts or possibilities to regenerate and insufficient usability or digital skills are among the biggest barriers identified. Possible solutions include creating social opportunities, offering external structure and creating opportunities for participation.
Research limitations/implications
Due to the small number of participants the results should be seen as explorative and need to be verified further.
Practical implications
The results made apparent, that those challenges identified can also affect people without disabilities and the offered solutions may not only help develop a more inclusive workplace but also create a healthier working environment for all kinds of people.
Originality/value
The approach appears to be a good way to separate impairments from medical diagnoses and related stigma. The impairments that were described by the interviewees do not appear disability-exclusive. It is apparent that those challenges can also affect people without disabilities and the offered solutions may not only help develop a more inclusive workplace but also create a healthier working environment for all kinds of people.

Abstract
Purpose
Particularly in volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) business conditions, staff in supply chain management (SCM) look to real-time (RT) data processing to reduce uncertainties. However, based on the premise that data processing can be perfectly mastered, such expectations do not reflect reality. The purpose of this paper is to investigate whether RT data processing reduces SCM uncertainties under real-world conditions.
Design/methodology/approach
Aiming to facilitate communication on the research question, a Delphi expert survey was conducted to identify challenges of RT data processing in SCM operations and to assess whether it does influence the reduction of SCM uncertainty. In total, 14 prospective statements concerning RT data processing in SCM operations were developed and evaluated by 68 SCM and data-science experts.
Findings
RT data processing was found to have an ambivalent influence on the reduction of SCM complexity and associated uncertainty. Analysis of the data collected from the study participants revealed a new type of uncertainty related to SCM data itself.
Originality/value
This paper discusses the challenges of gathering relevant, timely and accurate data sets in VUCA environments and creates awareness of the relationship between data-related uncertainty and SCM uncertainty. Thus, it provides valuable insights for practitioners and the basis for further research on this subject.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to demonstrate the importance of the newly developed concept of social currency as an antecedent of brand experience in the context of cosmetics consumption. In other words, the authors suggest that social currency could act as a brand experience provider.
Design/methodology/approach
Data collection was made through a paper and pencil survey. The sample consisted mostly of undergraduate and graduate students recruited on a voluntary basis at a large northeastern university. Self-administered questionnaires were filled by 373 participants, who were instructed to think about their favourite brand when it comes to buying cosmetic products for themselves.
Findings
Results showed that social currency positively impacts all four dimensions of brand experience, i.e. sensory, affective, behavioural and intellectual experiences. The findings also suggest that conversation, advocacy and affiliation are the three significant dimensions of social currency when it comes to the consumption of cosmetics.
Originality/value
This study reveals, for the first time, how the concept of social currency could enhance a fundamental component of brand equity, i.e. brand experience. Another important contribution of this research is the establishment of higher levels of validity for the newly developed concept of social currency. This study would also contribute to the investigation of brand experience antecedents, which have been little addressed in the literature on the emerging paradigm of experiential marketing.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between the success of the 50 EURO STOXX companies as measured by the earnings before taxes (EBT) and the percentage of female members on their supervisory boards.
Design/methodology/approach
The paper relies on data extracted from the annual reports of the 50 EURO STOXX companies in 2015 and from financial websites.
Findings
The paper provides the existence of a weak correlation between companies’ performance as measured by EBT and the percentage of women on supervisory boards.
Research limitations/implications
This study has two main limitations: first, a single key performance indicator was used to measure firms’ success; and second, the study offers insights related only to the year 2015. The analysis could be extended over a larger time span while some other variables could be considered in a more holistic approach.
Practical implications
The paper raises awareness that there is much to be done with regard to the presence of women on boards, and readers, investors and business owners gain an insight on the business environment and women active on European corporate boards.
Originality/value
By concentrating on the companies of the EURO STOXX 50 Index, the study offers a good image of the European business environment.
