Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to explain how the author had carried out the implementation of the radio-frequency identification (RFID) system at Central Library, Fakiragram College and to explain to the library professional on how to integrate RFID with Koha integrated library management system (ILMS) in their respective library without taking IT/technical experts assistance. This paper will encourage library professionals to implement RFID technology for the library security and embrace open source software in their institutions.
Design/methodology/approach
The paper describes the author’s practical experiences regarding implementation of the RFID system and integration of middleware RFID software with library management software.
Findings
From the present study, it was found that the library staff are having a positive attitude toward embracing RFID technology in their library. The present implementation of RFID technology in the studies area gives a clear picture about integrating a third-party software/tool like RFID to the existing systems and how the new system has helped the library to provide better service to their users
Research limitations/implications
There were some teething problems at the start between the Koha ILMS SIP2 software and the RFID system. The main issue faced while integration was with setting up the hostname, integrating the instance (i.e. database) and with setting up the port.
Practical implications
This paper will help librarians to implement RFID technology in a practical way to their libraries. The author implemented Koha ILMS with RFID system at the Central Library, Fakiragram College within 1 month and the author migrated data from common communication format (CCF) format to MARC 21 formats. CCF is basically used in SOUL 2.0 developed by INFLIBNET.
Originality/value
This study discusses issues and possible solutions in the process of implementing RFID applications for two innovative applications in library services. This will influence library professionals to learn Koha ILMS and RFID technology implement it in their libraries.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to provide image repository to the medical professional in an open source platform, which will increase the visibility of Digital Imaging and Communication in Medicine (DICOM) image in a network mode; further, the proposed system will reduce the storage cost of the images to significant level.
Design/methodology/approach
The authors have developed a new institutional repository model for the medical professionals cum radiologists to preserve, store and retrieve medical images from one database with the help of open source software. The authors used JavaScript programming to integrate and develop the DICOM Standard with DSpace.
Findings
Major outcome of this work is that DICOM images can be accommodated in DSpace without modifying the image properties and keeping intact the various dimensions of image viewing options. Further, it was found that the images are retrieved without any ease because of the robust indexing system.
Research limitations/implications
Major limitation of this study was the size of the data (5000 DICOM image) with which the authors have tested the system. The scalability of the system has to be tested on various fronts, for which separate study has to be done.
Practical implications
Once this system is in place, DICOM user can store, retrieve and access the image from Web platform. This proposed repository will be the storehouse of various DICOM images with reasonable storage costs.
Originality/value
In addition to exploring the opportunities of open source software (OSS) implementation in Medical Fields, this study includes issues related to implementation of open source repository for storing and preserving medical image. This is the first time in Library Science field to create and develop Open Source DICOM Medical Image Library with the help of DSpace. The study will create value for library professionals as well as medical professionals and OSS vendors to understand the medical market in the context of OSS.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to provide an overview of the need and current development of document viewers for digitized objects in DSpace repositories, including a local viewer developed for a document collection as like research papers, thesis and dissertation.
Design/methodology/approach
The authors developed the concept for the to preserve and store all types of document in one data base with the help of open source software (OSS). The authors used Java Script programing to integrated and developed the system.
Findings
The major finding of our work is that large document file can be accommodated in DSpace without modifying the originality of the documents and viewing the document in a different dimension as a specialist needs. The combination of current technologies such as Google Doc Viewer and the Internet Archive Book Reader, as well as the growing number of digital repositories hosting digitized content, suggests that the DSpace community will probably benefit with an “out-of-the-box.”
Originality/value
In addition, to exploring the opportunities of OSS implementation in different research institutes, the study includes issues related to the implementation of the open source repository. This is the first time in India, as well as DSpace history to created and developed Document Viewer with the help of DSpace OSS. The study would have value for library professionals and the developer to understand the market in the context of OSS.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to compare the performance, emission and combustion characteristics of E20 biodiesel with diesel-water emulsion and eucalyptus water emulsion.
Design/methodology/approach
This research expounds the trans-esterification process apparently. Various biodiesel blends were made to go through the trans-esterification process to make it suitable for feeding them into the low heat rejection (LHR) engine. E20 biodiesel – 20% of eucalyptus oil by volume with diesel was chosen to carry out the research as it was found to be the best blend with diesel. The volume of water content in diesel water emulsions was varied by 5, 10 and 15% in DWM1 (Diesel Water Mixture1), DWM2 (Diesel Water Mixture2) and DWM3 (Diesel Water Mixture3), respectively. Similarly, the volume of water content in eucalyptus water emulsions was varied with emulsification ratio of E20 biodiesel. Partially stabilized zirconia was coated over top surface of the piston and valve facing of the LHR engine.
Findings
From the researches carried out, DWM3 (Diesel Water Mixture3) was found to be superior when compared with other diesel-water emulsions in LHR engine. The overall efficiency was found to be higher for EWM3 than other biofuels tested the in LHR engine.
Originality/value
This investigational experiment can be further extended to multi-cylinder engine and to improve the cetane number, Di ethyl ester (DEE) fuel additives can be added.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of the study is to identify the latent topics from 9102 Web of Science (WoS) indexed research articles published in 2645 journals of the Sri Lankan authors from 1989 to 2021 by applying Latent Dirichlet Allocation to the abstracts. Dominant topics in the corpus of text, the posterior probability of different terms in the topics and the publication proportions of the topics were discussed in the article.
Design/methodology/approach
Abstracts and other details of the studied articles are collected from WoS database by the authors. Data preprocessing is performed before the analysis. “ldatuning” from the R package is applied after preprocessing of text for deciding subjects in light of factual elements. Twenty topics are decided to extract as latent topics through four metrics methods.
Findings
It is observed that medical science, agriculture, research and development and chemistry-related topics dominate the subject categories as a whole. “Irrigation” and “mortality and health care” have a significant growth in the publication proportion from 2019 to 2021. For the most occurring latent topics, it is seen that terms like “activity” and “acid” carry higher posterior probability.
Practical implications
Topic models permit us to rapidly and efficiently address higher perspective inquiries without human mediation and are also helpful in information retrieval and document clustering. The unique feature of this study has highlighted how the growth of the universe of knowledge for a specific country can be studied using the LDA topic model.
Originality/value
This study will create an incentive for text analysis and information retrieval areas of research. The results of this paper gave an understanding of the writing development of the Sri Lankan authors in different subject spaces and over the period. Trends and intensity of publications from the Sri Lankan authors on different latent topics help to trace the interests and mostly practiced areas in different domains.

Purpose
The purpose of this study is to gain insight into how citations are distributed and concentrated in the introduction, methods, discussion, results and other sections of journal articles to determine which section has received the most citations and whether the citation concentration score affects how articles rank.
Design/methodology/approach
The present study uses scite.ai and the Dimensions database to emphasize the significance of including multiple in-text citations in evaluating the impact and quality of journal publications. The study has two approaches: paper-based and author-based.
Findings
The study provides empirical insights into how variations in ranking are observed when citation concentration is considered in the evaluation process. It also suggests that in-text citations be used as an evaluation criterion or aspect for assessing the impact and quality of journals, publications and authors.
Originality/value
This study underscores the importance of considering citation concentration when evaluating journal articles. To assess highly cited articles, it suggests using the CC-index method, which is based on scite.ai.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to present a novel DSpace-based medical image repository system planned explicitly for storing and retrieving clinical images using digital imaging and communication in medicine (DICOM) metadata standards. DSpace institutional repository software is widely used in an academic environment for accessing and mainly storing text-related files. DICOM images are particular types of images embedded with much system-generated metadata and organised using DICOM metadata standards.
Design/methodology/approach
The present paper talks about institutional repository software (DSpace) in archiving DICOM images. In the current study, the authors have tried to integrate the DICOM metadata standard with DSpace, which was compatible with Dublin Core (DC) and open archives initiative – protocol for metadata harvesting (OAI-PMH). After combining the DICOM standard with DSpace and the repository tested with a sample of 5,000 images, the retrieval results using various DICOM tags was very satisfactory. This study paves for the use of open source software (OSS) in storing and retrieving medical images.
Findings
The author has provided the DSpace software to recognised DICOM (.dcm) files in the first stage. In the second stage, a patch was developed to identify the DICOM metadata standard in Dspace, which has inbuilt DC metadata standards. Finally, in the third stage, retrieval efficiency was tested with a 5,000 .dcm image using the DICOM tag and the results were very fruitful.
Research limitations/implications
A major limitation of this study was the size of the data (5,000 DICOM images) with which the authors have tested the system. The system scalability has to be tested on various fronts like on cloud and local servers with different configurations, for which a separate study has to be done.
Practical implications
Once this system is in place, DICOM users can stock, retrieve and access the image from the Web platform. Furthermore, this proposed repository will be the warehouse of various DICOM images with reasonable storage costs.
Originality/value
In addition to exploring the opportunities of free open source software (FOSS) implementation in medical science, this study includes issues related to the performance of an open-source repository for retrieving and preserving medical images. It created and developed Open Source DICOM Medical Image Library with DICOM metadata standard with the help of DSpace. Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of sensitization on the metallurgical characteristics of weld joints made up of austenitic stainless steel (AISI 316L) and ferritic stainless steel (AISI 430), using the gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) process with ER316L filler wires.
Design/methodology/approach
A non-consumable tungsten electrode with a diameter of 1.6 mm was used during the GTAW procedure. The filler wire, ER316L, was selected based on the recommendation provided in literature. To explore the interconnections among the structure and properties of these weldments, the techniques including scanning electron microscopy and optical analysis have been used. In addition, the sensitization behaviour of the weldments was investigated using the double loop electrochemical potentio-kinetic reactivation (DLEPR) test.
Findings
Microstructural analyses revealed the occurrences of coarsened grains with equiaxed columnar grains and migrating grain boundaries in the weld zone. The results of the DLEPR test demonstrated that heat affected zone (HAZ) of AISI 430 was more susceptible to sensitization than HAZ of AISI 316L. Microstructure analysis also revealed the precipitation of large amounts of chromium carbide at the grain boundaries region of AISI 430 welded steel, causing more sensitization and, as a result, more failure or breaking at the side of AISI 430 weld in the dissimilar weldment of AISI 316L–AISI 430.
Originality/value
The present work has been carried out to determine the appropriate welding conditions for joining AISI 316L and AISI 430, as well as the metallurgical properties of the dissimilar weldment formed between AISI 316L and AISI 430. Owing to the difficulties in measuring the performance of these types of dissimilar joints given their unique mechanical and microstructural characteristics, research on the subject is limited.

Abstract
Purpose
Molten sulphate-vanadate induced hot corrosion is the main reason of failure of boiler tubes used at high temperatures in thermal power plants. The hot corrosion can be encountered by applying thermal spray coatings on the alloy steels. In this perspective, this paper aims to attempt to investigate the effect of carbon nanotubes reinforcement on Cr2O3 composite coatings on hot corrosion behaviour of ASTM-SA213-T22 steel in a corrosive environment of Na2SO4 – 60%V2O5 at 900°C for 50 cycles.
Design/methodology/approach
The coatings have been deposited with high velocity oxy fuel process. The samples were exposed to hot corrosion in a Silicon tube furnace at 900°C for 50 cycles. The kinetics of corrosion behaviour were analysed by the weight gain measurements after each cycle. Corrosion products were analysed with X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive and cross-sectional analysis techniques.
Findings
During investigations, the carbon nanotubes (CNT) reinforced Cr2O3 composite coatings on T22 steel were found to provide better corrosion resistance in the molten salt environment at 900°C. The coatings showed lower weight gain along with formation of protective oxide scales during the experiment. Improvement in protection against hot corrosion was observed with increase in CNT content in the coating matrix.
Research limitations/implications
The addition of CNT has resulted in reduction in porosity by filling the voids in chromium oxide coating, with interlocking of particle and has blocked the penetration of corroding species to enhance the corrosion resistance of the composite coatings. The corrosion rate was found to be decreasing with increase in CNT content in coating matrix.
Originality/value
It must be mentioned here that high temperature corrosion behaviour of thermally sprayed CNT-Cr2O3 composite coatings has never been studied, and it is not available in the literature. Hence, present investigation can provide valuable information for application of CNT-reinforced coatings in high temperature fuel combustion environments.
