Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to report a numerical investigation of jet‐cross‐flow interaction in the presence of imperfection inside the injection hole with application to film cooling of turbine blades.
Design/methodology/approach
The work includes the prediction of the thermal and hydrodynamic fields by solving the Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokes and energy equations using the finite volume method with a body‐fitted hexahedral unstructured grid. The turbulence field is resolved by use of the k‐epsilon turbulence model.
Findings
The computational results show a dramatic and rapid decrease of the film cooling effectiveness when the obstruction is superior to 50 per cent. It is found that when the obstruction is close to the exit hole, the thermal protection is significantly reduced.
Research limitations/implications
The present numerical investigation is simply directed towards a qualitative investigation of hole imperfection effects on film cooling.
Practical implications
The motivation comes from several industrial applications such as film cooling of gas turbine components and fuel injection. One of the main challenges of using film cooling is the blockage of holes by particles ingested by the engine during landing/take off or due to application of thermal barrier coating or due to combustion particles as well as inaccuracies that result from drilling of holes.
Originality/value
The main goal of the present study is to conduct a numerical parametric investigation rather than reproducing the exact Jovanović's experimentation.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the influence of tourists’ sociodemographic characteristics on their perception of destination personality and emotional experience on the example of the city break tourism destination.
Design/methodology/approach
To examine this relationship, survey research was conducted on a sample of 203 national and international tourists who visited Novi Sad, the second-largest city in Serbia.
Findings
Research results confirmed the role of travelers’ sociodemographic variables in shaping their emotional experience and destination personality perception. The findings pointed out significant divergences in the perception of emotional experience in the case of respondents’ education level, previous visits to the city and travel companion. On the other hand, the analysis showed that repeat visitors significantly differed from first-time visitors regarding destination personality perception. In addition, differences in both destination personality and emotional experience assessment were found between national and international city break travelers.
Originality/value
The current study is first to focus on the role of travelers’ sociodemographic variables in simultaneous modeling of their perception of destination personality and emotional experience within the city break destination context. Besides, results revealed some new influencing factors of both destination personality and emotional experience perception, thus contributing to the existing tourism literature. In addition, this paper offers useful practical implications for city break marketers to adapt promotional activities, more effectively present the desired brand personality of the city to different sociodemographic categories of tourists and sustain repeat tourists’ perception of Positive surprise.

Purpose: FinTech is exploding all over the world. FinTech companies play a critical role in growing the banking industry. This chapter reviews existing literature on FinTech in banking, particularly its publication trend, journal productivity and impact, affiliated organisations and related themes.
Need for the Study: FinTech is reshaping the banking sector as banks move towards digitisation. FinTech has eliminated the need for paper, reduced the requirement for physical presence, and destroyed the necessity for cash. Several researchers have studied the features and benefits of FinTech technologies in the banking field. So, there is a need to analyse the available literature to identify the scope of further research in this field.
Methodology: For a comprehensive review, Bibliometric and content analysis of 77 open access green articles collected through the structured database of ‘Dimensions’ is done. These articles are published in the UGC Journal List Group II.
Findings: It is revealed that the execution of FinTech is continuously increasing in the banking sector, which has resulted in automation in various banking activities. The study revolves around technology and Banking, Financial Inclusion and Growth, and the Impact of the Financial Crisis on Banking and Peer-to-Peer (P2P) lending.
Practical Implications: The conclusions of this study can help academia and industry improve their understanding of FinTech in Banking, specifically its publication trend, geographical distribution, and creation of coherent themes. Careful analysis of collected articles will help to explore the scope of further research.

The purpose of this paper is to provide a link between entrepreneurial activity on the one hand, and industry evolution and economic growth on the other. The role that entrepreneurship plays in innovative activity is explained. The link between entrepreneurship and industry evolution through the spillover of knowledge in generating entrepreneurial activity is analyzed. This implies that the relationship between entrepreneurship and growth is identified. In particular, this paper finds that entrepreneurship generates a positive pulse in the evolution of industries in such a way that fosters economic growth.

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effects of investment climate and firm-specific variables on the growth of micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in Kenya.
Design/methodology/approach
The paper utilized a cross-section survey data of 2,536 MSEs in Kenya. Using the sales growth as the dependent variable, the paper tests the hypotheses that investment climate variables – entrepreneur perception of fairness and affordability of the courts in dealing with commercial disputes, access to formal credit, connections to utilities, crime incidences; and firm-specific resources affect MSE growth.
Findings
Positive entrepreneur perception of the fairness and affordability of the courts, access to formal credit, connections to utilities, lower incidences of crime, entrepreneur education and experience positively affect MSE growth.
Research limitations/implications
Although the context of the study is Kenya, the study has relevance to other developing countries especially Sub-Saharan Africa due to institutional similarities. The paper, however, uses cross-sectional data, which unlike panel data, do not allow for establishing dynamic relationships. This could be a potential area for further research.
Originality/value
The paper is among the first to establish effects of entrepreneur perception on MSE growth with regards the court system in dealing with business disputes in terms of fairness, timeliness, affordability and enforcement. The paper also extends limited extant research on MSE growth constraints with regards to incidences of insecurity, access to bank credit, connections to utilities and internal resources.

Purpose
This paper aims to study the effects of various compatibilisers (maleic anhydride (MAH), methyl methacrylate/butyl acrylate emulsion lattice, and adhesion system (HRH)) on properties of carbon black (CB) filled with natural rubber (NR)/styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR)/ nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) blends). A series of NR/SBR/NBR blends at a 30/30/40 blend ratio reinforced with 45 phr of CB was prepared using the master-batch method.
Design/methodology/approach
The tensile properties such as the tensile strength, stress at 100, 200 and 300% elongations, and elongation at break (EB)% were studied. Additionally, the morphological properties of compatibilised and uncompatibilised composites were compared to determine the optimal compatibiliser content.
Findings
The influence of compatibilisers appeared on all the properties studied. The properties of the blends compatibilised with prepared emulsion are very distinct from those of blends compatibilised with MAH and adhesion systems.
Research limitations/implications
Interactions among the different components of blends at the interfaces have a high impact on the interfacial properties of the rubber blend.
Practical implications
Compatibilisers significantly improve the physicomechanical properties of the resulting composites with the loading of investigated compatibilisers because of the uniform dispersion of CB in the rubber matrix.
Social implications
Using blends in the rubber industry leads to high-efficiency production of low-cost products.
Originality/value
The rubber blending has a significant positive effect on a wide range of applications such as structural applications, aerospace, military, packaging, tires and biomedical. Hence, improving the compatibility of blends will make new materials suitable for new applications.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to examine the impact of regulatory, normative and cultural cognitive institutions and firm and individual factors on entrepreneurial behavior.
Design/methodology/approach
Using the quantitative research method, the authors collected data from 316 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Kosovo, a transition economy, through a cross-sectional research design. The authors performed exploratory factor analyses, correlation and regression analyses on the data using SPSS 26 and STATA software.
Findings
The research findings indicate that, within transition economies, normative and cultural-cognitive institutions have a positive impact on entrepreneurial behaviors. The authors could not determine the effect of regulatory institutions on entrepreneurial behavior. The authors also discovered that young firms are more inclined toward entrepreneurial behavior than older firms, and micro firms display a stronger entrepreneurial behavior than small firms. Furthermore, family businesses showed a greater tendency for entrepreneurial behavior than nonfamily firms. Interestingly, when the rational decision-making interacts with regulatory institutions, the effect on entrepreneurial behavior is negative.
Research limitations/implications
This study employed a cross-sectional approach to investigate the influence of macro, meso, and micro-level factors on entrepreneurial behavior within a transitioning community across three industries. Future studies could replicate these findings within comparable institutional contexts, employing longitudinal studies that include additional variables beyond those considered in our present study.
Practical implications
Considering the importance of MSMEs for a country’s economic and sustainable development, the authors provide some policy implications. The authors recommend managers carefully evaluate the information gathered while they decide and also increase their capabilities concerning digitalization, which is crucial for their firm’s survival, growth and sustainable competitive advantage.
Originality/value
This paper contributes to the literature and shows and analyses entrepreneurial behavior at institutional (macro), firm-level factors (meso) and managers' rational decision-making (micro), providing evidence from a transition community.

Purpose
This study aims to investigate the swelling behavior, mechanical and thermal properties of ternary rubber blend composites prepared by melt blending based on carbon black (CB)-filled natural rubber (NR)/styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR)/nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) blends, containing a variety of compatibilizers. Various compatibilizers, maleic acid anhydride (MAH), prepared emulsion and adhesion system (HRH) were used. A series of NR/SBR/NBR blends at a 30/30/40 blend ratio reinforced with 45 phr of CB were prepared using the master-batch method.
Design/methodology/approach
Thermal aging properties of the composites characterized by their aging coefficient and retention in tensile and elongation at break (E.B. %). Thermal degradation of ternary rubber blend composites based on melt blending has been studied using thermogravimetric analysis.
Findings
The swelling coefficient decreased with increased compatibilizer loading. Results also showed that the tensile strength and E.B. (%) decreased with aging over the entire aging period. Additionally, the addition of compatibilizers into the ternary rubber blend composite had slightly improved the thermal stability.
Research limitations/implications

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to suggest a parameter independent and simple speed estimator for primary field-oriented control of a promising electro-mechanical energy conversion device in the form of brushless doubly-fed reluctance machine (BDFRM) drive.
Design/methodology/approach
The speed estimation algorithm, in this context, is formulated using a modified secondary winding active power (mPs)-based model reference adaptive system (MRAS). The performance of the proposed estimator is verified through computer aided MATLAB simulation study, compared with conventional active power-based MRAS and further supported with experimental validation using a 1.6 kW BDFRM prototype run by a dSPACE-1103 controller.
Findings
The formulation of mPs-MRAS is insensitive to any machine parameters and does not involve any integration/differentiation terms. Thus, any deviation therein does not hinder the performance of the mPs-MRAS-based speed estimator. The proposed speed estimator shows stable behavior for variable speed-constant load torque operation in all the four quadrants.
