Abstract
Purpose
Parts that are to be used in aircraft, satellites, automobiles and ships should have sound microstructure. Components made from AA6082/Si3N4 and AA6082/SiC composites are in demand from industries. Hence, these components are to be fabricated by suitable technique at the appropriate value of process parameters. Design/methodology/approach
AA6082/Si3N4 and AA6082/SiC composites are successfully fabricated using the stir casting process. Their microstructures have been analyzed. This has been done at different magnification. The effect of the addition of Si3N4 and SiC particles in the 6082 aluminum alloy is investigated. Microstructure of AA6082/Si3N4 and AA6082/SiC composites are also compared. Results show that Si3N4 and SiC particles have good wettability with AA6082. These reinforcement particles are homogeneously distributed in the matrix of AA6082.
Findings
There are no adverse effects of reactions in the microstructure of AA6082/Si3N4 and AA6082/SiC composites. There is not much difference between the distribution and interfacial characteristics of Si3N4 and SiC particles. AA6082/Si3N4 and AA6082/SiC composites have good properties. This is high strength at low density. Due to which they become suitable for the aircraft and space industry. So far, SiC, Al2O3 and tungsten carbide have been mostly used as reinforcements with different grades of aluminum alloy.
Originality/value
Not much experimental work is found with Si3N4 and SiC particles as reinforcement with AA6082. The novelty of this research work is that an effort has been made to fabricate AA6082/Si3N4 and AA6082/SiC composites at such values of process parameters, by stir casting process, so that sound and defect free microstructure is obtained. Microstructure of AA6082/Si3N4 and AA6082/SiC composites is also compared, to find which is better.

Abstract
Purpose
Mechanical properties are highly sensitive to the microstructure, and these are indirectly related to solidification parameters and processing conditions. AA7075 possesses lightweight and excellent properties as structural material which can be optimized with SiCp addition and a good fabrication technique.
Design/methodology/approach
7000 series aluminium alloys exhibit the highest mechanical properties. They are used for high-strength structural applications such as aircraft parts and sporting goods. The desirable properties of these alloys are: low density, high stiffness, specific strength, good wear resistance and creep resistance. The focus of this work is to investigate the microstructure of composites formed by the dispersion of silicon carbide particles (SiC) into AA7075 by stir casting processes. 7075 Al alloy is reinforced with 10 and 15 wt.% SiCp of size 10–20 µm by stir casting process. The composites have been characterized by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy, differential thermal analysis and electron probe microscopic analysis.
Findings
SiCp distribution and interaction with AA7075 matrix have been studied. AA7075/10 wt.%/SiCp (10–20 µm) and AA7075/15 wt.%/SiCp (10–20 µm) composites microstructure showed excellent SiCp distribution into AA7075 matrix. In addition, no evidence of secondary chemical reactions has been observed in X-ray diffraction and electron probe microscopic analysis.
Originality/value
Little experimental work has been reported so far about effect of addition of 10 and 15 wt.% SiCp of size (10–20 µm) on the microstructure of 7075 Al alloy fabricated by stir casting process. The present investigation has been carried out to study the microstructure and carry out XRD, DTA and EPMA analysis of 7075 Al alloy, 10 and 15 wt.% SiCp of size (10–20 µm) composite and detect the interfacial reactions with the objective to minimize the formation of Al4C3.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to examine the quality of the turned surface. The quality of the surface produced depends on the nature of the chips, which are produced while turning metal matrix composites. This quality is a function of the machining parameters, tool material, tool configuration and elements of the composites.
Design/methodology/approach
In this study, the turning of AA7075/15 wt.% SiC (particle size 20–40 µm) composites is investigated. Thirty experiments were conducted, and the chip-formation mechanism in turning AA7075/SiCp composites at various combinations of cutting speeds, feed and depth of cuts was studied.
Findings
It is observed from the response surface methodology-based experimentation that in turning of coarser reinforcement (particle size 20–40 µm) composites, total gross fracture occurs. This causes small slices of chips and a higher shear plane angle. The nature of chips produced at various combinations of cutting speeds, feed and depth of cuts is different. The chips generated were segmented, spiral in cylindrical form, connected C type, chips with saw tooth, curled chips, washer C type chips, half-curved segmented chips and small-radii segmented chips.
Originality/value
The novelty of this research is that, so far, very little work has been published on the detailed analysis of chips produced during turning of AA7075/15 wt.% SiC (particle size 20–40 µm) composites.

Abstract
Purpose
Sound microstructure components are necessary for reliability and safety; hence, these components are used in aircraft, satellite, automobiles and ships, where many commercial alloys are not suitable. The paper aims to discuss this issue.
Design/methodology/approach
AA6082/Si3N4 and AA6082/SiC composites were fabricated using the stir-casting process considering 5, 10 and 15 vol.% of reinforcement particles. Density and porosity of AA6082/Si3N4 and AA6082/SiC composites were calculated. Characterization was done using an X-ray (EDX) detector, attached to SEM. The effect of addition of Si3N4 and SiC particulates in the AA6082 was investigated.
Findings
Results showed that Si3N4 and SiC particulates had good wettability with AA6082 and were uniformly distributed in AA6082 matrix. No adverse effects of reactions were noticed in the microstructure of AA6082/Si3N4 and AA6082/SiC composites.
Research limitations/implications
AA6082 with more than 15 vol.% of Si3N4 and AA6082/SiC reinforcement particles do not find industrial application where high hardness and tensile strength are required.
Practical implications
Components made from AA6082/Si3N4 and AA6082/SiC composites find their application where high hardness with better tensile strength is required.
Social implications
Naturally and locally available materials are utilized for fabrication.
Originality/value
Little work is available in the literature on fabrication and characterization of AA6082/Si3N4 and AA6082/SiC composites. The authors have identified the process parameters at which proper fabrication is done and sound microstructure is obtained.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to study whether the controversy because of brand crisis based on quality had any impact on consumer brand equity, brand image, brand reliability, brand perception of quality, perceived value, brand sentiments and purchase behavior.
Design/methodology/approach
The research methodology consisted of two types of data: primary and secondary data. The secondary research consisted of social media brand sentiments and financial analysis. The primary research focused on perception study of brand quality, consumer brand equity, brand reliability, brand image, purchase and brand switch behavior.
Findings
Maggi used social media extensively to address the issue and re-build the brand reliability and confidence among its users. Communication strategy adopted by focusing on the past experience of consumers and using them as a spokesperson generated a positive sentiment towards the brand under crisis.
Research limitations/implications
While Maggi suffered the backlash because of the controversy across the length and breadth of India and was banned in a number of states, the author could conduct the primary research only in one city of the state of Maharashtra, Mumbai. The effectiveness of the survey was impacted because of the geographic limitations the author faced while collecting the responses. The survey would have definitely been more effective, with responses collected from different states and with more number of respondents. Fishbein is very old, from the 1980s, even though this theory has met the test of time. Application of the effect of experiences on experiential perceptions and how this influences value through networking could have been used to explain the same.
Practical implications
An important implication of this paper’s findings for practice, therefore, is that brands should incessantly strive to maintain the consumers’ level of trust, as it is essential for the preservation of the brand equity after a crisis. Crisis-stricken brands should safeguard their reputations from the negative effects of crises. It is even more important for any brand to act appropriately when the cause of the crisis is attributed to its actions and processes. Managers have to address the quality of products in case of brand crisis for restoring trust, image and reliability in the brand. Right type of communication to right targeted consumers will help in the restoration of the image, trust on the brand and bring back loyal customers. Managers have to build brand equity on a regular basis, as a strong brand can recover faster as seen from this paper.
Originality/value
This paper helps to upgrade the knowledge and understanding of the impact of the controversy on brand equity and image and how the crisis management strategy can be adopted to regain the mind share and equity. This paper will help the brands in the future to know how a crisis can be managed efficiently by drawing a cue from the strategies implemented by Maggi.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to identify sustainability practices and to propose a framework for evaluating the sustainability index of logistics service providers (LSPs).
Design/methodology/approach
Sustainable practices followed by LSPs are identified through literature review and analysis of a case study. Thirteen such sustainable practices are identified. Thereafter, with expert inputs, nine sustainable practices are shortlisted and considered for the evaluation of the sustainability index in the proposed framework. Graph Theory Matrix Approach has been applied to evaluate the sustainability index of an LSP.
Findings
Major practices identified for evaluating sustainability index include the use of recyclable packaging, use of renewable energy sources, green procurement, reduction in carbon emissions, use of CNG/electric vehicles, rainwater harvesting and so on. The sustainability index of an LSP is evaluated by using the proposed framework.
Practical implications
LSPs can benchmark their sustainability index with respect to the best in the industry. Based on it, LSPs can also identify potential areas for improvement.
Originality/value
Novelty of the study lies in the proposed framework for evaluation of sustainability index which can be used to develop strategies for green logistics. LSPs can also improve their performance in terms of sustainability measures by adopting green logistics.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to evaluate the theoretical performance of elliptical dam bearing (EDB). The objective of this paper is to study the influence of eccentricity ratio, dam parameters and micropolarity parameters on the stability of EDB with respect to micropolar lubrication.
Design/methodology/approach
In this study, the modified Reynolds’ equation for dynamic state is solved using the finite element method and Galerkin technique. A MATLAB code is written to compute pressure and stability and also to analyse the characteristics. The stability parameters of an EDB are computed for selected values of eccentricity ratios at four levels in the range of 0.20 to 0.35 and for length-diameter ratio of 2.0.
Findings
The results from stability analysis reveal that micropolar lubricated EDB provides better stability at smaller material length due to increased effective viscosity. Hence, it is better to select the smaller characteristic length and higher dam width to achieve optimum performance of these bearings.
Originality/value
Very few researchers investigated the effects of working eccentricity, bearing dam and micropolar fluid parameters on the EDB in the past. It is important to study these aspects for optimum performance of bearings.

This paper is based on secondary research, reviewing literature based on different industries and perspectives.
Findings
The global potential of AI is exponential; the development of AI should be effective. Globally, we see contrasting views, defining the consequences of AI. Hence, the balance between humans and AI, protocols and a global regulatory system needs to be established to prevent catastrophic results soon.
Practical implications
The benefits of AI are enormous. The rising incorporation of AI must take into consideration the basic safety fundamentals for a better future.
Social implications
This paper will enable readers to understand the importance of AI in the global economy, its current involvement in major industries and the subsequent need for balance in technology.

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to reduce the post-harvest loss occurring through respiration and CO2 emission produce by the selected produces, during logistics. This paper proposes a supply chain (SC) structure for the Indian traditional agriculture SC planning model to reduce post-harvest loss and mixed closed transportation to reduce CO2 emission.
Design/methodology/approach
The Indian agriculture SC structure is modeled and solved by genetic algorithm using a MATLAB Optimization toolbox. The respiration rate is measured by a static method. These values are applied in an SC planning model and the post-harvest loss and its corresponding CO2 emission are estimated.
Findings
This paper proposes a supply structure for the Indian traditional agriculture SC to reduce the post-harvest loss; the experiments measured the respiration rate to estimate the CO2 emission. The mixed closed transportation method is found to be suitable for short-purpose domestic transportation.
Research limitations/implications
The optimized supply structure leads to unemployment through eliminating the intermediaries. Therefore, further research encourages the conversion of intermediaries into hub instead of eliminating them.
Practical implications
This paper includes implications for the development of Indian traditional agriculture SC by an optimized supply structure and novel transportation method for the selected agriculture produces based on compatibility.
Originality/value
This paper identified that the agriculture produces respiration can also emit the CO2. The closed transportation method can reduce the CO2 emission of produces respiration than traditional open transportation.

Purpose
The banking sector requires a major comeback with the series of bank frauds that has shook the nation. The rising non-performing assets (NPAs) and corporate frauds find their roots in the top-level management or executive levels. The purpose of this study to analyse the behavioural component with corporate governance lapses for creating a trail and to what extent it can contribute to forensic analysis to help reduce and prevent fraud in the future.
Design/methodology/approach
This study is investigative in nature. This study uses case study approach by taking into account the major Advance–NPA–Fraud cases over period of 2010–2022. RBI data for bank advances, NPAs and advances-relate frauds from 2005 to 2019 were studies and interpreted for creating a trend and pattern for the reduction and prevention of frauds.
Findings
The authors found that behavioural factors and personalities affect the systems and culture of the company, thereby giving a jolt to the corporate governance mechanisms along with various entities like depositors, consumers and shareholders.
Practical implications
Assessing the behavioural aspects for risk mitigation remains unexplored in the banking sector. The personality dimension can help in contributing to comprehending the mental aspects and the reasons behind the combination of dark triads with economic offences.
Originality/value
This study is beneficial to all the beneficiaries of the banking sector and the economy at large in understanding the implications of risks because of patterns formed by emotions and vulnerability towards economic and fugitive economic crimes.
