Abstract
Purpose
Numerous academic institutions have embarked on the pursuit of hybrid learning as an alternative approach, catering to students who opt for replacing a fraction of their conventional in-person meeting schedule with remote teaching. However, these new remote learning patterns have brought forth new stands against students' expectations. The universities have come across immense challenges in devising efficacious strategies that encompass the delivery, effectiveness and acceptability of hybrid courses. Consequently, identifying pivotal determinants related to user acceptance of technology persists as a crucial matter. This study aims to shed light on the adoption of hybrid learning from students' perspectives.
Design/methodology/approach
Structural equation modelling (SEM) was employed to scrutinise the proposed research model and hypotheses. A total sample of 444 students responded and partook in the survey. The data were analysed using AMOS software, a powerful tool for statistical analysis in the field of social sciences.
Findings
The findings of this study show that perceived service quality positively and significantly impacts the ease of use and usefulness of a hybrid learning system among students. In addition, the results demonstrate that ease of use and usefulness of the system positively and significantly influence students' favourable attitudes toward hybrid learning. Remarkably, the statistical analysis unveils the significant mediating effect of ease of use and usefulness in the relationship between perceived service quality and students' attitudes toward hybrid learning.
Research limitations/implications
The findings suggest that the pervasive dependence on information systems and the quality of service from novel technologies continues to be a vital influence in the learning environment. The study has provided valuable insights into student perseverance learning strategies for higher education institutions.
Originality/value
This study's novelty lies in illuminating the crucial role of ease of use and usefulness as mediators, highlighting their criticality in enhancing students' attitudes towards hybrid learning. Notably, the study underscores that perceived service quality exerts a positive influence on ease of use and usefulness.

Abstract
Purpose
Driven by the rapid expansion of online retail and the surge in livestream commerce, the impact of different livestream mode on brand and platform performance has become a critical issue. This paper analyzes the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and key opinion leader (KOL) livestream on the profitability of brands and the platform, incorporating the effects of horizontal interactions to identify the optimal livestream mode.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper develops a model of a platform supply chain involving two brands and a platform, where each brand independently decides whether to utilize KOL or AI livestream. Applying Stackelberg game approach, the study derives equilibria for various livestream scenarios, identifying the optimal livestream mode for both parties. Additionally, the model is extended to incorporate asymmetric market potential and network externality to evaluate their impact on a brand’s choice of livestream mode.
Findings
Several interesting and important results are derived in this paper. Firstly, it is found that AI livestream enables brands to leverage network externality and mitigate the market disadvantage, thereby gaining a competitive advantage. Secondly, while KOL livestream promotes trust, the medium KOL commission rates could cause brands to be trapped in a prisoner’s dilemma, and excessively high commission rates may render them less profitable. Thirdly, the KOL commission rate, network externality intensity, horizontal interactions and market disadvantage are critical determinants influencing a brand’s choice of livestream mode.
Originality/value
This study is the first to investigate the effects of horizontal interactions, asymmetric market potential and asymmetric network externality on livestream mode selection by brands within a platform supply chain. The research provides valuable insights into optimizing livestream strategies to enhance brand profitability.

Structural factors during Chinese and Japanese immigration and settlement processes required families to adapt in ways that altered traditional gender behaviors. This study examines how two factors – spousal immigration order and family economic structure – affected the gendered division of labor and how gender roles consequently were reconstructed for first and second generation Chinese Americans and Japanese Americans. These issues are investigated through secondary data analysis of 21 in‐depth interviews with daughters of Chinese and Japanese immigrants on the West Coast.

Abstract
Purpose
Multistage amplifiers require a reliable frequency compensation solution to remain stable in a closed-loop configuration. A frequency compensation scheme creates an inner negative feedback loop amongst different amplifying stages and shapes the frequency response such that an unconditionally stable single-pole amplifier results for closed-loop operation. The frequency compensation loop is thus responsible for the placement of the poles and zeros and the final stability of multistage amplifiers. An amplifier incorporating a sophisticated frequency compensation network cannot be, however, analyzed in the presence of a complex ac feedback loop. The purpose of this study is to provide a reliable model for the compensation loop of multistage amplifiers at the higher frequencies.
Design/methodology/approach
In this paper, the major part of the amplifier, including a two-port network comprising the compensation network, is characterized using a reliable feedback model.
Findings
The model integrates all the frequency-dependent components of the frequency compensation network, and it can evaluate the nondominant real or complex poles of an amplifier.
Originality/value
The reliability of the proposed model is verified through analysis of the frequency response of the amplifiers and by comparing the analytic results with the simulation results in standard CMOS process.

Abstract
An individual’s ethical ideology has been identified as one of the key components in fluencing ethical decision making in organisations. The Ethics Position Questionnaire is designed to measure ethical ideology in relation to two dimensions, namely Idealism and Relativism. This study investigates the factor structure of this measure in a sample of Chinese managers, and compares the dimensions found to those found in the original study. In addition, a regional comparison is under taken and the results show that there are significant differences in ethical ideology across different regions in China. These results are discussed and suggestions for future research are made.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to discuss the effect of hybrid cascode compensation with quality factor (Q-factor) control module for the three-stage amplifiers driving ultra-large load capacitors. Compared to the present frequency compensation solutions, it extends the amplifier bandwidth by establishing an extra AC feedback pathway besides the primary pathway through the Miller capacitor, increasing the loop gain at the gain–bandwidth product (GBW) frequency by pushing to the higher frequencies the nondominant poles.
Design/methodology/approach
A Q-factor control block is used to improve the damping factor of the compensation loop with no power or area overhead, thereby reducing the frequency peaking and the undesired oscillation in the time response for small load capacitors. The Q-factor control module is realized by a tiny-size on-chip capacitor, and provides an extra feedback loop to feed the damping current back to the input stage. A left-half-plane (LHP) zero is also introduced to further improve the stability.
Findings
A prototype of the proposed amplifier is simulated in 180-nm CMOS with a quiescent current of 24-µA from 1.80-V voltage supply. It achieves a 3.98-MHz gain–bandwidth product for 500-pF load capacitor, while the overall compensation capacitor is limited to 0.5-pF and the DC gain is extended beyond 100-dB.
Originality/value
The proposed amplifier is absolutely stable for the load capacitors ranging between 80-pF and 100-nF.

Abstract
The increasing number of cases of developing country multinational enterprises (MNEs) buying assets from developed countries through merger and acquisition (M&A) calls for more systematic evidences on this area. As a typical and representative developing country, China has already drawn the world's attention with several high-profile cross-border M&As in recent years. By examining the recent evidences of Chinese outward M&A, this chapter reviews the main motivations of outward M&A among state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and non-SOEs, and presents an overall picture of China's outward M&A in the last decade. In doing so, this chapter intends to explore the crucial role played by the Chinese government in orchestrating its internationalization activities and the long-term implications on the competitiveness of Chinese firms in the global marketplace.

Abstract
Purpose
In order to make the aperture of spatial deployable antenna larger, this paper proposed the study on a spatial annular tensegrity structure with 100 m large scale, which could be one of the ideal solutions to improve the dimension of the antenna. This study is aiming to figure out the dynamic characteristic of ultra-large annular tensegrity and address the problem of insufficient rigidity with local modes that many ring truss-type deployable antenna structures have faced.
Design/methodology/approach
This work is carried out based on the nonlinear dynamic modelling when fully considering the effect of bending and torsion deformation of beams, as well as the pretension of cables. Additionally, the structural stability analysis based on the proposed stability criterion is also presented to evaluate the tensegrity configuration with different distribution of cable groups.
Findings
This research results verify that the modified structure with radial ribs could eliminate the effect of the local vibration mode on stiffness and is suitable to meet the requirements of the annular tensegrity structure. Additionally, the calculation results demonstrate that the structural configuration of annular tensegrity with 36 groups of cables which share the nodes with radial ribs is more appropriate to enhance the stiffness and structural stability.
Originality/value
A new large annular tensegrity structure with radial ribs and tensioned cables is proposed. Based on the proposed structural configuration, the positive definiteness of the tangent stiffness matrix is carried out as the criterion of stability and the composition of the analytical expression of the tangent stiffness matrix is analyzed. Four levels of tensegrity structure stability have been carried out and the influence of the structural parameters on the stability and the rigidity has been analyzed. A scaled-down prototype is developed to verify the feasibility of the design of the hoop-column-rib configuration by the deployment and dynamic experiment.
