Abstract
Purpose
In the face of climate change, environmental impact assessment (EIA) and strategic environmental assessment (SEA) are expected to translate global or national mitigation and adaptation targets to project and plan levels of decision-making. This paper aims to examine how to transform China’s EIA procedures to accommodate consideration of climate change and what constraints might be for doing so.
Design/methodology/approach
The main methodology used in this paper is doctrinal research, which is the primary legal methodology to find the law and interpret and analyse the document. Theoretical research is applied to analyse the ideas and assumptions of the mainstreaming approach. Comparative research is done to consider relevant international experiences.
Findings
Despite well-founded rationale for the mainstreaming approach, entrenched institutional, legal and technical obstacles cannot be neglected in the context of China. Urgent needs to fix existing EIA/SEA loopholes and improve the general enabling environment are also highlighted as a fundamental aspect of mainstreaming.
Originality/value
The potential of mainstreaming climate change into China’s EIA procedures remains largely unexplored. As a ground-breaking work from China’s perspective, the findings of this paper can serve as an important foundation for future research from legal and other perspectives.

Abstract
Purpose
To improve the surface quality of Mg2Si/Al composites after solution treatment, the formation mechanism of surface defects under milling machining conditions is investigated to reduce the surface roughness.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper analyzes the formation mechanism of surface defects on Mg2Si/Al composites under micro-milling conditions by establishing a two-dimensional finite element simulation model. Response surface (Box–Behnken) experiments are designed to establish a prediction model for surface roughness, and an analysis of extreme variance is used to investigate the effects of milling depth (ap), spindle speed (vs) and feed rate (vf) on surface quality. NSGA-II multi-objective optimization algorithm is used to optimize the process parameters by considering surface roughness and milling efficiency. Experiments are also applied to verify the relationship between surface defects and particle damage. The effect of depth of cut on surface defects is also investigated.
Findings
There are few studies on solid solution treated Mg2Si/Al composites. Solid solution treated Mg2Si/Al composites have excellent material properties without changing the original shape of the material, and they are indispensable and critical materials in the fields of aerospace, energy, electronic information and energy transportation.
Originality/value
This study elucidates the formation mechanism of surface damage in Mg2Si/Al composites, optimizes reasonable process parameters and provides technical guidance for its milling processing.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to reveal the influence of milling process parameters on the surface roughness and morphology of superalloy GH4145.The groove milling mechanism and surface quality influence factors of superalloy GH4145 were studied experimentally.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper provides investigations on three-dimensional finite element model (FEM) and simulation of milling process for GH4145.The milling experiment uses Taguchi L16 experimental design and single factor experimental design. The surface morphology of the workpiece was observed by scanning electron microscopy, and the influence mechanism of milling parameters on surface quality is expounded.
Findings
The results show that the cutting force increases by 133% with the increase in milling depth. The measured minimum surface roughness is 0.035 µm. With the change in milling depth, the surface roughness increases by 249%. With the change in cutting speed, the surface roughness increased by 54.8%. As the feed rate increases, the surface roughness increases by a maximum of 91.1%. The milling experiment verifies that the error between the predicted surface roughness and the actual value is less than 8%.
Originality/value
The milling experiment uses a Taguchi L16 experimental design and a single-factor experimental design. Mathematical models can be used in research as a contribution to current research. In addition, the milling cutter can be changed to further test this experiment. Reveal the influence of milling process parameters on the surface roughness and morphology of superalloy GH4145.

Abstract
Purpose
This research investigates apparel consumers' psychological and behavioral responses to omnichannel (OC) integration. Specifically, the study applies the cognitive–affective–conative (CAC) model to reveal consumers' decision-making process under the impact of channel integration quality (CIQ), perceived fluency (PF) and cognitive and affective trust (AT).
Design/methodology/approach
Primary data were collected through an online survey. In total, 657 eligible responses were received. This study applied partial least square structural equation modeling for data analysis.
Findings
The findings demonstrate that the extrinsic cognitive factor, CIQ, substantially affects consumers' intrinsic cognition (cognitive trust [CT] and PF), which consequently fosters consumers' AT and shopping intentions. Specifically, integrated promotion and transaction information positively affects CT, while integrated product and price and information access negatively impact CT. All the dimensions of CIQ, except integrated promotion (IP), significantly affect PF. CT and AT exhibit mediation effects in the CAC model.
Practical implications
Apparel brands and retailers may apply the findings to effectively design their retail channels and implement channel integration to boost consumers' shopping intentions and trust.
Originality/value
This study is one of the pioneering studies applying the CAC model to empirically examine OC consumers' decision-making process. It is also among the first to determine that cognitive and AT have theoretical distinctions in the OC retailing setting.

Abstract
This chapter discussed the implementation of the digital twin (DT) idea into construction. Through the adoption of DTs into construction practices, construction professionals have been able to project an identical virtual concept of sections of the project execution right from the onset. In the introduction and discussing of its origin, the DT was further assessed about its applications in construction beneficial in enhancing project delivery. Other sections like barriers, drivers and benefits of the DT in construction summarised what this chapter represents in terms of discussing the new involvement of digital tools in construction execution, management and sustainability.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to address the critical need for patent value evaluation within patent management, particularly in the context of the digital economy. Recognizing the importance of utilizing historical data, this research aims to uncover effective methodologies that enhance the appraisal of patent value, which is vital for informed decision-making in the management of scientific and technological advancements.
Design/methodology/approach
This study introduces a comprehensive evaluation model by analyzing various factors that influence patent value. An index system is constructed that integrates technical, economic and legal aspects to facilitate a nuanced assessment of patents. The methodological core of this research is the development of an XGBoost patent value appraisal model, which incorporates Bayesian optimization to refine the evaluation process. The model’s validity is tested through empirical analysis of patents in the rapidly evolving sector of cloud computing.
Findings
The empirical results demonstrate that the XGBoost model, strengthened by Bayesian optimization, outperforms traditional categorization techniques. The proposed model shows superior performance in terms of accuracy, precision, recall rate and operational feasibility. These findings indicate a significant improvement in the precision of patent potential and value assessments, leading to more reliable and actionable insights for patent management.
Originality/value
This study introduces a novel patent evaluation model that combines XGBoost with Bayesian optimization. XGBoost enhances performance by integrating weak learners, ideal for complex, nonlinear problems like patent valuation. Bayesian optimization refines hyperparameters efficiently using prior distributions and known results. Its practical implications for patent management and technology exploration are substantial, offering a new tool for strategic decision-making.

Abstract
Ting‐Toomey's (1988) face‐negotiation theory of conflict predicts that choice of conflict style is closely associated with face‐negotiation needs, which vary across cultures. This study investigated this prediction in a workplace setting involving status and face‐concern with a sample of 163 Anglo‐Australian and 133 Chinese university students who were working full or part‐time. The association of type of communication (direct or cautious) according to type of face‐threat (self or other) and work status (subordinate, co‐worker or superior) with preferences for three conflict management styles (control, solution‐oriented, non‐confrontational) was examined for the two cultural groups. The results showed that: (1) as predicted by the individualist‐collectivist dimension, Anglo respondents rated assertive conflict styles higher and the non‐confrontational style lower than their Chinese counterparts; (2) overall, both Anglo and Chinese respondents preferred more direct communication strategies when self‐face was threatened compared with other‐face threat; (3) status moderated responses to self and other‐face threat for both Anglos and Chinese; (4) face‐threat was related to assertive and diplomatic conflict styles for Anglos and passive and solution‐oriented styles for Chinese. Support was shown for Ting‐Toomey's theory; however the results indicated that, in applied settings, simple predictions based on only cultural dichotomies might have reduced power due to workplace role perceptions having some influence. The findings were discussed in relation to areas of convergence and the two cultural groups; widening the definition of “face”; and providing a more flexible model of conflict management incorporating both Eastern and Western perspectives.

Abstract
Sustainable development is inseparable from rational and responsible use of resources and promotion of green entrepreneurship. The contemporary green development agenda encompasses climate, economic, technical, social, cultural, and political dimensions. International efforts to greening the global development are conducted by the major economies, including China as the world’s largest consumer of energy and the biggest emitter of greenhouse gases. China is aware of its environmental problems, as well as of its part of the overall responsibility for the accomplishment of the sustainable development goals. By means of the decarbonization efforts, the latter are integrated both into the national development agenda (the concept of ecological civilization) and China’s international initiatives (the greening narrative within the Belt and Road Initiative). Over the past decade, China has made a breakthrough on the way to promoting green entrepreneurship and greening of its development (better quality of air and water, renewable energy, electric vehicles, and organic farming). On the other hand, emissions remain high, agricultural land loses productivity, and freshwater resources degrade due to climate change. In conventional industries (oil, coal mining, and electric and thermal energy), decarbonization faces an array of impediments. In this chapter, the authors summarize fundamental provisions of China’s approach to building an ecological civilization and measures to reduce emissions and achieve the carbon neutrality status within the nearest decades. The analysis of obstacles to the decarbonization of the economy and possible prospects for the development of green entrepreneurship summarizes China’s practices for possible use in other countries.

Abstract
Purpose
This study considers perceived enjoyment and attitude consistency as internal states of consumers in an omni-channel environment. This study aims to investigate the mediating role of perceived enjoyment and attitude consistency to reveal how omni-channel environment factors of interaction fluency, convenience, price advantage and personalization contribute to omni-channel shopping intention.
Design/methodology/approach
Consumers who had shopped at Uniqlo's online and offline stores were surveyed through an online questionnaire, and 566 data were collected for analysis through partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM).
Findings
The results find that interaction fluency, price advantage and personalization positively affect perceived enjoyment, interaction fluency and convenience positively affect attitude consistency and perceived enjoyment and attitude consistency in turn facilitate omni-channel shopping intention. The mediating role of perceived enjoyment and attitude consistency was confirmed.
Originality/value
The original finding of this study is that factors such as interaction fluency, convenience, price advantage and personalization in omni-channel retailing require momentary and continuous affective states of consumers to facilitate omni-channel shopping intention, respectively. Therefore, this study considers the necessity of capturing different affective states of consumers in omni-channel shopping.
