Abstract
Purpose
The aim of this paper is to demonstrate how global IT services provider Wipro Technologies addressed the early engagement issues associated with its fast pace of growth across geographic and cultural boundaries.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper identifies the problems associated with rapid growth across different cultures and geographic areas and charts the organization's analysis of those problems and implementation of a successful and innovative solution.
Findings
An organization with strong HR systems, such as competitive compensation levels, well‐designed benefit plans and world‐class training and performance management, may encounter low levels of employee satisfaction, particularly in challenging situations such as fast global growth. Introducing initiatives to increase employee engagement can help to overcome challenges of retention and productivity across a global and diverse workforce.
Originality/value
Turnover of staff in the early period of employment means that new hires can leave before they experience the benefits of working for an organization. Engagement initiatives focused at this period can improve attrition rates.

Purpose
The digital warehouse management system is an emergence that forms a critical part of the transformation of economic structure in Industry 4.0. In the present business scenario, the warehouse management system encounters a messy layout, poor damage control, unsatisfactory order management, lack of visibility and lack of technological interventions. Digital twin (DT) based warehouse system shows the ontology and knowledge graphs for competitive advantage by consolidating and transferring goods directly from an inbound supplier to an outbound customer on short notice and with no or limited storage. There remains a lack of clarity on how the DT can be implemented successfully in warehouse management.
Design/methodology/approach
The current literature remains largely unstructured and scattered due to a lack of a systematic approach to integrating the research implications and analysis. This paper probes the conceptualization of the DT with the help of theoretical analysis using the systematic literature analysis method.
Findings
The study explores essential concepts such as interoperability and integrability in implementing DT. Further, it analyzes the role of a supply chain control tower (SCCT) in modern supply chain management. A research framework is proposed for practitioners and academicians by incorporating the opportunities and challenges associated with DT implementation. The research findings are mainly threefold: Conceptualization of DT, Featuring SCCT and Exploration of cross-computer platform interfaces, scalability and maintenance strategies.
Originality/value
This study is among the first to analyze and review DT applications in warehouse management. Moreover, the study proposes a theoretical toolbox for the practitioners to successfully implement the DT in warehouse DT-based warehouse management system: A theoretical toolbox for future research and applications.

Abstract
Purpose
The vaccine supply chain (VSC) performance remains under stress during pandemic outbreaks than conventional vaccination drives due to desired vaccination coverage. Therefore, it is essential to identify the crucial performance objectives (POs) and their interrelationship structure and prioritize them to improve performance in a pandemic VSC.
Design/methodology/approach
This study combines the decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory based analytic network process (DANP) method with spherical fuzzy sets (SFS) to explore critical POs of the pandemic VSC in the balanced scorecard framework. The SFS theory tackles the uncertainty of POs and DANP interlaced causal relationships among crucial POs to the pandemic VSC while ranking them for prioritization.
Findings
This work identifies 32 issues associated with pandemic VSC and maps them against 13 POs. Effective communication, adequate health financing and operating cost optimization are the most critical POs, and operational issues listed under them must be prioritized to improve the overall VSC performance for future pandemics. The relationship structure among these POs is also summarized using the balanced scorecard framework in a strategy map.
Research limitations/implications
The strategy map proposed in this study can help practitioners to address the causality among different POs and underlying issues for the sudden expansion of vaccination programs during pandemics from an economic, social and operational perspective.
Originality/value
To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first empirical study to suggest improving the VSC performance during the pandemic by focusing on the causative relationship and priority of different detected POs.

Abstract
Purpose
The study aims to develop an integrated quantitative approach and suggest a framework to assess the impact of a technological intervention on the internal process dimension of the vaccine supply chain (VSC) system for multiple administered regions.
Design/methodology/approach
An evaluation index system is developed by selecting suitable performance indicators (PIs) that define the objectives of a VSC. Then multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) methods are applied to obtain pre and post-intervention relative ranks for the regions and performance scores of the objectives. A bilateral data envelopment analysis (DEA) compares significant efficiency differences between improvement and deterioration groups.
Findings
This study demonstrates that technological intervention improves the internal process dimension of a VSC for the regions under consideration. The empirical study delivers two groups of regions showing improvement or deterioration in relative performance ranking due to the technological intervention. However, the efficiency-based bilateral comparison may reveal an insignificant difference between the two groups.
Practical implications
Decision-makers associated with VSC will find the suggested model helpful in assessing the impact of technological intervention. They can easily identify specific objectives of VSC's internal process dimension, whether a particular region has observed an improvement or deterioration in its relative performance and maximize the outcome by focusing on the areas of concern for a specific region.
Originality/value
This study is the first to provide a quantitative approach that empirically determines relative performance improvement or deterioration of different regions for a set of identified VSC objectives in the context of the Indian states.

Abstract
Purpose
This study is a response to the paucity of research into early internationalising firms based in India. We seek to explore the internationalisation of small and new Indian firms and the decision-making process of their entrepreneurs/managers.
Methodology/approach
The study uses original, primary data gathered from in-depth, semi-structured interviews conducted with the managers of six such firms to explore the factors that might facilitate, motivate, or impede the efforts undertaken by young Indian firms to embark upon a process of early internationalisation.
Findings
Our findings suggest that, in line with their counterparts from other countries, the early internationalisation of small firms from India is driven primarily by the search for more favourable demand conditions overseas and is facilitated by new technologies. However, we find no evidence suggesting that the emergence of early internationalising firms from India is driven by the search for more favourable production conditions or by the direct international experience and exposure of their founders. In line with prior scholarly work, our research suggests that government support is an important facilitator of early internationalisation of small firms.
Originality/value
The study provides insights into the internationalisation process of INVs from India and contributes to broadening our understanding of the behaviour of firms under a set of specific institutional conditions. Based on our findings, we develop a conceptual framework which can be useful for further empirical testing. Our study is also one of the few to be conducted on a sample of INVs from India.
