Abstract
Purpose
Option pricing theory enables computation of the price of an option using different variables associated with the underlying security and options contract. The purpose of this study is to assess research trends that emerged in the field of option pricing. This study reviews existing literature of the option pricing domain, both qualitatively and quantitatively, and identifies potential themes for future research.
Design/methodology/approach
This study adopts bibliometric analysis method to explore literature published in the option pricing domain. As part of bibliometric analysis, this study considers both descriptive and network analysis to assess publication trends. For descriptive analysis, the “bibliometrix” package proposed by Aria and Cuccurullo (2017) is used and for network analysis, VOS viewer (Van Eck and Waltman, 2017) and Gephi (Bastian et al., 2009) are used.
Findings
This study identifies research trends, top researchers, articles, journals and contributions from institutions and countries in the option pricing domain. It identifies four clusters that show different directions and also focuses on past studies on the same subject. It explores research gaps by performing an in-depth analysis of existing literature on option pricing and suggests the way forward for research in this area.
Originality/value
To the best of the authors’ knowledge, no previous studies have attempted to analyze the literature published in the option pricing domain. This study fulfils this research gap by conducting a comprehensive analysis of studies in the option pricing area. This study identifies quality research work published in the domain, research trends, contribution by most relevant researchers, contributions across geographies and institutions and the connections among these aspects. This study also identifies important themes and provides directions for future research.

Abstract
Purpose
The study aims to investigate the direct and indirect effect of subordinate’s perceived abusive supervision (AS) on his/her work–family conflict (WFC) and family–work conflict (FWC). Although prior studies have empirically explored the direct effect, but the role of mediators like compulsory citizenship behavior, burnout and stress transfer explaining the indirect effect has seldom been reported.
Design/methodology/approach
The study draws cross-sectional dyadic data from multiple sources (both job incumbent and the spouse). A final sample of 188 was used to test the hypotheses using SmartPLS.
Findings
The result reports positive relationship between AS and inter-role conflict (WFC and FWC). The findings also reported compulsory citizenship behavior (CCB) partially mediating the positive relationship between AS and WFC and AS and FWC. Also, the positive relationship between AS and WFC is partially (serial) mediated by CCB and burnout, and similarly, the association between AS and FWC is partially (serial) mediated by CCB and stress transmission.
Originality/value
The study makes several valuable contributions to the extant literature; first, it is the only study to explore the direct and indirect effect of AS on inter-role conflict (WFC and FWC) in Indian organizations. Second, the mediational role of CCB (as explained by the conservation of resources theory) and burnout and stress transmission (as explained by the spillover and crossover theory) offers rare insight about the process that explains the relationship between the focal constructs.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper compares the impact of corporate governance determinants of asset quality between India’s public and private sector banks. The article identifies which corporate governance determinant is better utilized between the two sectors. The findings empower the banking regulatory authorities and individual bank administrators to handle asset quality in a better manner through a robust corporate governance framework. The study’s findings are also helpful for other nations to make informed judgments by countries with economic relations with India.
Design/methodology/approach
The article uses a dynamic panel data analysis method on novel data to achieve the purpose of this article. Using the General Method of Moments, the authors analyze 21 public and 24 private sector banks. The data used in this study span over a decade from 2010 to 2019.
Findings
According to the estimates, there is a significant difference in the impact made by corporate governance determinants on public sector banks vis-à-vis private sector banks. The results find that while board size has a greater impact on the asset quality of private banks, board independence has a lesser impact. Gender diversity contributes to more reduction of NPAs in private banks. The article also concludes that public banks perform better in the utilization of audit committee while private banks are better at using board meetings, CEO duality and ownership concentration.
Originality/value
Several papers have identified the determinants of asset quality in banks in various nations. However, to the authors' knowledge, none of the papers has identified the difference in the impact of corporate governance determinants between India’s public and private sector banks separately. This article is the first to do so.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to provide insights into different aspects of the extant literature on the effects of dividend announcements. Along with other outputs of a bibliometric study, this study provides deeper insights into the concentration of the extant literature and suggest future research agendas.
Design/methodology/approach
This study uses the bibliometric, network and content analysis of the dividend announcement literature indexed in Scopus. This study presents the temporal analysis, the network of authors, countries, author citations and the co-occurrence of author keywords. This study provides the concentration of the extant literature in three clusters and unearth some key future research areas. This study uses the latent Dirichlet allocation method for robustness.
Findings
A total of 54 documents examining the US sample have received 1,804 citations. Interestingly, the first article on emerging markets was published in 2002, when at least 34 articles on developed markets had already been published from 1982 to 2001. The content analysis of top-cited literature unveils diverse insights into dividend announcements’ effects on financial markets. Contagion effects negatively impact non-announcing banks, particularly larger ones. Dividend maintenance affects stock market momentum, influencing loser returns. While current dividend/earnings news may not predict future company performance, information content dominates bond market reactions to post-dividend announcements. Concomitantly, while financially constrained firms exhibit short-term gains but worse long-term performance following dividend increases, larger stock dividends send stronger market signals in China.
Originality/value
This study significantly contributes to the bibliometric and content analysis literature by analyzing the sample documents based on the sample examined. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, no previous bibliometric study in this domain has been conducted to explore the markets (developed and emerging) to which the samples examined belong and the quality of publications from developed and emerging markets.

Purpose
In mobile banking (m-banking), knowing and understanding trust-related factors can enable bank managers to design suitable strategies for enhancing its overall uptake. Based on this premise, the present study assesses the relationship of trust in m-banking with technology acceptance and use factors, quality factors, risk factors and a personal factor as well as behavioral outcomes. The study further investigates the moderating influence of Hofstede’s cultural dimensions on these relationships.
Design/methodology/approach
The present study synthesizes the outcomes of 63 quantitative studies on trust in m-banking by using the meta-analysis technique.
Findings
The study finds a significant relationship of trust in m-banking with technology acceptance and use factors, quality factors, risk factors, a personal factor and behavioral outcomes. Additionally, Hofstede’s cultural dimensions, namely power distance, individualism/collectivism, masculinity/femininity and uncertainty avoidance, significantly moderate the majority of the hypothesized relationships.
Research limitations/implications
By reviewing the extant literature, this study provides a comprehensive framework that explains the antecedents and behavioral outcomes of trust in m-banking and determines how these relationships effectively vary across cultures.
Practical implications
The study helps m-banking service providers to understand how trust in m-banking can be enhanced. The study also shows which factors are more impactful in a particular culture.
Originality/value
This is an original study that contributes to the m-banking marketing literature.

Abstract
Purpose
The authors present a systematic literature review on microfinance institutions’ (MFIs) effect on poverty and how they can ensure their sustainability. The purpose of this article is to review the effect of MFIs on poverty in South Asian countries. The analysis and review of the selected corpus of literature also provide avenues for future research.
Design/methodology/approach
A total of 95 papers from 49 journals in 4 academic libraries and publishers were systematically studied and classified. The authors define the keywords and the inclusion/exclusion criteria for the identification of papers. The review includes an analysis of the selected papers that give insights about publications with respect to themes, number of themes covered in individual publications, nations, scope, methodology, number of methods used and publication trend.
Findings
The literature indicates the positive effect of microfinance on poverty but with a varying degree on various categories of poor. The relation between poverty and microfinance is, however, dependent on the nation under the scanner. While sustainability and outreach co-exist, their trade-off is still a matter of debate.
Originality/value
This is the first systematic literature review on MFIs’ effect on poverty in South Asian nations. Additionally, the authors discuss the literature on the trade-off between sustainability and outreach for MFIs.

Purpose
In mobile banking (m-banking), understanding the factors contributing to customer satisfaction is crucial for bank managers to design effective strategies for enhancing the uptake of mobile banking services. This study assesses the relationships between quality, technology acceptance and credibility factors and behavioural outcomes (actual use, continuance intention and loyalty) and satisfaction with m-banking. It further investigates the moderating influence of economy type, innovation level, connectivity level and sample size on all these relationships.
Design/methodology/approach
The study employs a meta-analysis technique and reviews 54 published studies to investigate the antecedents and consequences of satisfaction with m-banking.
Findings
The study finds a significant relationship between satisfaction with m-banking and quality, technology acceptance and credibility factors and behavioural outcomes. It concludes that the moderating effect of economy type, innovation level, connectivity level and sample size partially moderate the majority of the hypothesized relationships.
Research limitations/implications
Drawing on a comprehensive literature review, this study presents a novel framework elucidating the antecedents and behavioural outcomes of satisfaction with mobile banking. It contributes to the literature by exploring the moderating effects of sample size and country context on the relationships between these factors, presenting important implications for future mobile banking research.
Practical implications
This study has practical implications for m-banking service providers, offering insights into the factors that drive user satisfaction with mobile banking and highlighting the need for tailored strategies in different country contexts.
Originality/value
This study examines the effects of factors leading to satisfaction and the subsequent outcomes within the context of m-banking. The findings offer fresh perspectives that can be valuable for managers and policymakers, enabling them to enhance customer satisfaction in the realm of m-banking.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to identify specific corporate governance determinants of asset quality in the Indian banking system and suggest a future course of action for research in the Indian banking industry. The results will guide other developing nations to handle poor asset quality in banks. Nations with economic interest in India can take cognisance from the results.
Design/methodology/approach
The authors identify the determinants of asset quality for the Indian banks using novel data from 2010 to 2019 through a dynamic panel data approach. The authors analyse 45 public and private sector banks using general method of moments.
Findings
The results indicate that intensity of board activities, board functioning and ownership concentration are significant determinants of asset quality. Furthermore, the study hypotheses on board independence and board size are rejected as they do not significantly impact the asset quality. The authors also call for further research on the qualitative aspects of gender diversity, board independence and special committee activity for better insights.
Originality/value
This is the first study to identify specific corporate governance determinants of asset quality for the Indian banking system using a dynamic panel data approach with data spanning over ten years from 45 banks. Unlike all other studies, the authors have used both bank-specific and macroeconomic variables as control variables, making the results accurate and reliable. The authors also recognise the persistent nature of asset quality.

They repositioned the asset as a ResiTel wherein each suite would be sold as a condominium unit to retail buyers. This called for setting up two separate entities: one (PropCo) for asset management and the other (LeaseCo) for operating the hotel. Unit owners would earn a regular share of hotel income. The lenders protected additional sale-risk by more conservative loan terms. The developer must analyse the feasibility of the repositioned asset.

Case overview/synopsis
Zyne is a mid-sized Delhi-based firm engaged in the home linen business under the company’s brand name. Raman was the Managing Director of Zyne. In 2019, Prashanth the head of the second-best region (West) quit abruptly without grooming a successor. Prashanth’s team consisted of greenhorn executives whom he recruited from colleges. Raman has options of selecting a replacement for Prashanth from within the organization. Two candidates are in the reckoning, namely, Amit and Neha. Amit was 48 years old, a veteran in the business and associated with the Zyne group for over 15 years. He was a top sales performer in the Central region and was interested in relocating to the West. Twenty-seven-year-old Neha was industrious, talented and creative. Within three years of joining Zyne, she had proven herself as a go-getter with remarkable ability to develop strong channel partner relations. Raman had to decide whom to select from among the two or go for an outsider from the industry. Raman has to contend with selection issues related to insider vs an outsider. If one of the internal candidates is chosen how could he motivate the other to continue to perform and deliver? The case focuses on the challenges of recruitment of a Sales Manager (SM) in a small home furnishing business. Use of competency framing to validate the candidates is the high point of the case
Learning objectives
By the end of case discussion participants should be able to understand the following: differentiate skills required in a sales leadership role as compared to that of a sales executive; evaluate the pros and cons of internal promotions versus hiring an outsider; apply the concept of competency framework to evaluate different candidates vying for the same position; and understand how a candidate not selected for the position understands the reasons thereof to enable improvements.
Complexity academic level
Started in 2010, Zyne Furnishings headquartered at Delhi, was in the business of selling home furnishings. Raman, a second-generation entrepreneur was Zyne’s Managing Partner. With help from his father Rajesh Gupta, Raman worked toward expanding Zyne’s business operations in India. Raman was facing a challenge because of the abrupt resignation of Prashanth, the Western Region SM. Prashant had done well in the region and assiduously built Zyne brand’s presence there. As Raman pondered over the ways of filling up the SM position, questions confronted him for which he did not have immediate answers. He had 30 days in which a replacement must be finalized. Raman looked at the file containing the applications of the two internal candidates, namely, Amit (Southern region) and Neha (Western region) who had applied for the position. What evaluation process should he adopt to ensure an objective assessment is done before deciding on which of the two candidates fit the bill? Given that it was the first week of January 2020 and the year-end targets had to be met by March, Raman knew time was running out. He had to take a quick call. Use of competency mapping to evaluate candidates is a high point of the case. This case can be used to enhance the participants understanding of the challenges of identifying the right candidate for a senior position and weigh the pros and cons associated with the selection. Motivating the rejected internal candidate through the procedural justice system adds value to the case.
