Abstract
Purpose
Decision support systems developed using machine learning classifiers have become a valuable tool in predicting various diseases. However, the performance of these systems is adversely affected by the missing values in medical datasets. Imputation methods are used to predict these missing values. In this paper, a new imputation method called hybrid imputation optimized by the classifier (HIOC) is proposed to predict missing values efficiently.
Design/methodology/approach
The proposed HIOC is developed by using a classifier to combine multivariate imputation by chained equations (MICE), K nearest neighbor (KNN), mean and mode imputation methods in an optimum way. Performance of HIOC has been compared to MICE, KNN, and mean and mode methods. Four classifiers support vector machine (SVM), naive Bayes (NB), random forest (RF) and decision tree (DT) have been used to evaluate the performance of imputation methods.
Findings
The results show that HIOC performed efficiently even with a high rate of missing values. It had reduced root mean square error (RMSE) up to 17.32% in the heart disease dataset and 34.73% in the breast cancer dataset. Correct prediction of missing values improved the accuracy of the classifiers in predicting diseases. It increased classification accuracy up to 18.61% in the heart disease dataset and 6.20% in the breast cancer dataset.
Originality/value
The proposed HIOC is a new hybrid imputation method that can efficiently predict missing values in any medical dataset.

Purpose
Social media use is prevalent today, but there is a possibility that it might go out of control and cause negative consequences. Furthermore, by using social media at work, businesses may develop their networks, communicate in a productive manner and ultimately expand the efficiency. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of social media use (SMU) on job performance (JP) through sequential mediators such as social capital dimensions (SC), self-efficacy (SE), job satisfaction (JS) and knowledge sharing (KS) in Indian Public Universities.
Design/methodology/approach
Serial mediation model has been used in the study to analyse the relationship. Data is collected from teaching faculty (n = 702) who use social media in Indian public universities. The study has assessed the association between variables using structural equation modelling.
Findings
The findings suggest that the dimensions of SC, SE, JS and KS sequentially mediated the effect of SMU on JP. In light of the results, the SMU specifies prerequisites for the development of various dimensions of SC. Similarly, the rest of the mediating constructs further affect the other constructs, which ultimately positively affect JP. The final result shows that the indirect effect between social media use and job performance is positive and significant.
Practical implications
The study provides practical suggestions for university administration regarding the use of social media for teaching faculty.
Originality/value
No research has been done regarding social media use affecting the job performance of teaching faculty through serial mediation in public universities. In this respect, this study represents an original attempt to conduct such research.

Purpose
This paper aims to analyze the customer-based brand equity index (CBBE-I) of Tourism Brand Kurukshetra.
Design/methodology/approach
For the purpose of this study, the author uses primary and secondary data on destination attractiveness of Tourism Brand Kurukshetra for a sample of 150 tourists including domestic and international. The study used structural equation modeling and factor weighting methods.
Findings
The research presents an investigation into the destination attractiveness index of Tourism Brand Kurukshetra in an emerging market, i.e. Kurukshetra. Tourism Brand Kurukshetra from the brand equity perspective is an attractive destination.
Practical implications
It suggests that the CBBE index of Kurukshetra ought to analyze a longitudinal study to get the proper image of Kurukshetra from a touristic perspective. It provides long-term attractiveness to enhance tourism.
Originality/value
This is the first brand equity study contributed to branding literature of Tourism Brand Kurukshetra. The index is an accomplished way to present the tourism condition of any destination.

In this chapter, I explore two media texts, Imtiaz Ali's Highway and Alankrita Shrivastava's Netflix original series Bombay Begums (2021). I contend that recent filmmakers have begun to arguably reframe the narratives of rape victim-survivors and disrupting the cultural of silence described above. They offer progressive and multi-faceted representations of these experiences, such that there is an opportunity for a dialogue within both private and public spheres. What I mean when I say that they are ‘progressive representations’ is that the rape victim-survivors are not merely reduced to helpless women in distress, nor painted as vengeful, aggressive characters. Instead, their characterisation shows that they have agency and autonomy, but at the same time struggle with the repercussions of speaking out against their perpetrators in a society that does not support them wholly.

Abstract
This chapter explores the presentation of women's violence in Tamil mega serials. Tamil mega serials are produced in India and aired six days a week on satellite television channels. The story revolves around households with extended families living together and issues affecting women such as family well-being, motherhood and fertility. Women mostly take the role of the main protagonist and antagonist in Tamil serials. This chapter analyses the presentation of violence in 10 episodes of Chandralekha, a Tamil mega serial. Perpetrators of violence in Tamil serials are mainly female antagonists and other characters supporting the antagonists. The rivalry between the protagonist and antagonist centres around the struggle for property or the love of or marriage with a man. The type of violence ranges from mild to severe kinds of physical violence, and non-physical violence. The presentation of violence in Tamil serials reflects gender inequality in society. The meaning of some forms of violence in mega serials is closely related to the traditional gender roles and notion of traditional femininity in society.

This case study explores the rationale, implementation and impact of the innovative approach on customer engagement and the seller community. Purpose
High-performance workplace systems (HPWS) have evolved from being mere buzzwords to essential pillars for organisational success. This calls for in – depth examination by both academic scholars and industry professionals. The study aims to offer a comprehensive academic assessment of the significance of HPWS in enhancing human resource management.
Design/methodology/approach
In this study, the authors conducted a literature review (bibliometric and content analysis) of 152 peer-reviewed scholarly articles published from 2003 to 2024. This study used Vosviewer software and the bibliometrics package in R software to investigate publishing patterns, influential contributors, themes and topics underpinning HPWS.
Findings
The work offers a thorough and insightful examination of the ideas, components and effects of HPWS on businesses and workers. It presents three research fronts that collectively contribute to the understanding of HPWS.
Practical implications
This work emphasises the significance of incorporating high-performance workplace processes to cultivate a culture of excellence and enhance employee engagement. Organisations can use evidence-based strategies identified in the literature to boost performance, promote job satisfaction and retain high-performing employees.
Originality/value
The study applies HPWSs to inform organisational policy development by acknowledging firms’ inherent capabilities and competencies to integrate HPWS effectively. The results serve as compelling evidence for recognising the capacity of HPWS to impact various facets of an organisation.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the performance of a turbine structure of the oil and gas Egyptian company in terms of reliability, mean time to failure (MTTF), mean time to repair (MTTR) and mean time between failures (MTBF) under fuzzy environment and working criteria. This paper examines the impact of the failure of various components on the complete turbine structure of the oil and gas system.
Design/methodology/approach
To overcome the problem of uncertain behavior of available data for various components, the right triangular generalized fuzzy number (RTrGFN) is proposed to be taken into the account to express the uncertainty which attains some tolerance in data. Furthermore, reliability indices are calculated with the help of the Lambda Tau method and the arithmetic operations on right generalized triangular fuzzy numbers (RTrGFN).
Findings
This paper explores the reliability of a repairable 3 out of 4 structure of turbines and along with the other parameters namely MTTF, MTTR and MTBF; under a fuzzy environment. Failure rates and repair times are expected to be exponential. The ranking of components of the structure is being found to decide the priority for maintenance.
Originality/value
This paper investigates the performance of the system with different spread/tolerance like 15%, 25% and 50% of crisp data. It helps to predict realistic results in the range value. To enhance the system's performance, the most important item of the system requires greater attention. For this, the authors find the sensitive part by ranking. For ranking, an extended approach has been developed to find the sensitive unit of the system by using the right triangular generalized fuzzy number. This paper explores the most and least sensitive component of the system, which helps the maintenance department to plan the maintenance action.

Consumers by and large today look for economic growth and benefits without compromising on socio-environmental well-being. Having said that, it is imperative to note that consumers' consciousness may not essentially lead to sustainable purchases. This chapter aims to examine the role of both sustainable purchase intention and post-purchase dissonance in the relationship between consumers' sustainability consciousness and consumers' evangelism. With the increased role of social media pervading our lives, trusted sources' recommendations play a significant role in co-creating products. Thus, research on consumers' evangelism (especially sustainability-conscious consumers) would help marketers develop successful strategies. This study expands to the extant literature on sustainability-conscious consumers vis-a-vis consumer evangelism. We collected responses from 227 respondents to examine hypotheses, by means of structural equation modelling (SEM). The study indicates sustainable purchase intention does mediate the relationship between sustainability-conscious consumers and consumer evangelism. On the other hand, we also note that post-purchase dissonance is not a significant moderating construct between sustainability-conscious consumers and consumer evangelism.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to investigate the effect of spiritual intelligence on the quality of work life (QWL) of college teachers. Besides this, the mediating impact of psychological capital on improving their QWL and moderating effect of gender has also been examined in the study.
Design/methodology/approach
Variance-based structural equation modelling is used for testing the proposed structural model with a sample of 451 college teachers.
Findings
The findings of the study reveal that QWL is positively influenced by spiritual intelligence. Moreover, QWL can be augmented with the presence of psychological capital. Nevertheless, there exist no gender differences with respect to the relationships of the study.
Practical implications
The study holds implications for the teachers and educational institutions as they can prepare themselves to cope up with the stressful events and experience a good QWL.
Social implications
A teacher’s role is said to be instrumental in bringing about a holistic development in pupil’s personality by instilling right value system in him/her. Nevertheless, such role of the teachers can only be justified if the teachers are equipped with higher levels of spiritual intelligence and are psychologically more active and satisfied with their work life.
Originality/value
To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is the first of its kind that makes an incremental contribution to the QWL literature by exploring a partial mediating role of psychological capital on the relationship between spiritual intelligence and QWL.
