Abstract
Companies around the world are recognizing the importance of intellectual capital (IC) and its significant contribution towards adding higher value to its products or services. The objective of the study is to examine the IC disclosure practices of the top 20 profit‐making public listed companies in Malaysia in their annual reports, both qualitatively and quantitatively. This paper adopts the definition of Karl Erik Sveiby which classified IC as internal capital, external capital and employee competence. A content analysis of 20 copies of 2001 annual reports was carried out. The study indicates that the incidences of voluntary disclosure of IC in company report are high qualitatively, but not quantitatively. This study will assist future researchers, the national accounting setting board and regulators to develop an appropriate accounting framework for those ICs which do not have accounting standards yet.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper measured the intellectual capital performance of commercial banks in Malaysia for the period 2001 to 2003, using efficiency coefficient called VAIC™ developed by Ante Pulic.
Design/methodology/approach
Data required to calculate human capital, structural capital and capital employed efficiencies were obtained from annual reports.
Findings
As a whole, all banks have relatively higher human capital efficiency than structural and capital efficiencies. Domestic banks were generally less efficient compared to foreign banks. Hong Leong Bank, Public Bank and Southern Bank were the top three efficient domestic banks based on VAICTM assessment, while Scotia Bank is the most efficient foreign bank. Public Bank and EON Bank have consistently showed improvement in efficiency in the three years. There were significant differences between rankings of bank according to efficiency and traditional accounting measures. In view of the findings that seven out of ten domestic banks did not show improvement in efficiency following the consolidation exercise requires an urgent attention and remedial actions.
Research limitations/implications
This study failed to study all foreign banks operating in Malaysia. Future study should therefore further improve on the aspect of coverage.
Practical implications
The findings allowed banks to benchmark themselves based on the level of efficiency rankings, to establish priorities and develop strategic plans, which will in turn enhance their future performance. The findings also could help stakeholders and investors assess the value creating potential of banks; and policy makers to formulate and implement policies for establishment of a resilient banking sector.
Originality/value
This study is the first study on Malaysian banks' intellectual capital performance.

Abstract
Purpose
Consumers are becoming increasingly concerned about ecological degradation and are getting conscious of the potential advantages that environmental sustainability can offer, which is also driving them towards the consumption of green products. In view of this, the purpose of this study is to operationalize and test the conceptual model of green purchasing behaviour by incorporating consumers’ perception towards green marketing stimuli including eco-label, eco-brand and environmental advertisements with perceived environmental knowledge in an emerging sustainable market.
Design/methodology/approach
The proposed model is based on an integrative and cognitive approach to consumers’ environmental beliefs-behaviour relationship. The 549 valid responses were received from selected metropolitan regions of India and analysed by direct path coefficients along with a bootstrapping method for testing indirect effects.
Findings
The results revealed that perception of eco-label and environmental advertisements had a positive influence on green purchasing behaviour, however, the direct relationships of eco-brand and environmental knowledge were not supported in the model. While environmental advertisements and environmental knowledge posed an indirect influence on green purchasing to some extent.
Research limitations/implications
The generalizability of the findings needs to augment an extensive approach of a cross-sectional survey. Theoretical, managerial and policy implications were recommended to promote green products towards sustainable consumption.
Originality/value
The operationalization of green purchasing behaviour using marketing stimuli has remained scant in the Indian setting. The insights gained from this study contributes to the knowledge domain of green consumer psychology in the backdrop of an emerging market.

This study aims to show what interventions in human factors can effectively reduce construction workers' unsafe behavior.
Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to show what interventions in human factors can effectively reduce construction workers' unsafe behavior.
Design/methodology/approach
A diagnostic intervention model targeted the construction workers' weakest internal factors. The workers' behavior and cognition data were collected via a questionnaire and a video camera system from two medium-sized construction sites. A safety supervisor accompanied each site supervisor to improve construction workers' internal factors by implementing the designed intervention measures.
Findings
The statistical analysis results confirmed a persistent positive effect on construction workers' safe behavior by improving internal factors. Among the intervention programs applied, those aimed to improve the subjective norms, safety knowledge and attitudes had the most significant effect sizes.
Practical implications
The findings of this case study advise project managers to design a specific behavioral intervention that aims at improving construction workers' significant internal factors, including subjective norms, safety attitudes, habits and knowledge together with demographic characteristics to reduce construction workers' unsafe behavior.
Originality/value
While the declining rate of construction accidents approaches an asymptote which is still high, this study suggests that targeting the individual internal factors through diagnostic interventions is the key to further reduce the rate by improving construction workers' behavior.

Abstract
Purpose
Given the lack of research on the nomological validity of tourism destination consumer-based brand equity (CBBE) constructs incorporating core, well-established constructs from the travel and tourism discipline, this research investigates the influence of venturesomeness as a moderator in a model with destination image, satisfaction, and overall CBBE as antecedents of return intentions.
Design/methodology/approach
The study uses online panel data of past visitor to the sea-side destination of Corpus Christi, Texas. A sample of 210 residents in Texas and surrounding states was employed to estimate the hypothesized effects through partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM).
Findings
Results demonstrate the predictive effects of destination CBBE dimensions on tourists' revisit intention, with the significant moderation effects of venturesomeness through its influence on tourist satisfaction.
Research limitations/implications
Findings provide general support to the nomological validity of the proposed model, highlighting the role of satisfaction as a central dimension to explain destination loyalty, the limitations of generic scales to investigate tourism destination contexts, and the incorporation of consumers' psychographics and lifestyle variables on destination CBBE.
Practical implications
Destination marketers should develop segmentation strategies to target travelers with psychographic profiles that are more responsive to the factors that foster CBBE.
Originality/value
This research provides insights on the nomological validity of a CBBE model by evaluating its integration with a context-specific theoretical domain, which is a condition to increase the explanatory scope of theoretical relations and claims in intermediate theory, and to move the research field forward.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to empirically examine the determinants and outcomes of Green Banking adoption and the moderating influence of top management commitment under the corporate environmental ethics ideology. External stakeholder pressures are analyzed as determinants of Green Banking adoption. Brand image and operational efficiency are examined as outcomes of this business ideology. Green Banking adoption is adapted as a second-order construct with four first-order reflective constructs to ensure in-depth conceptualization of the construct.
Design/methodology/approach
Green Banking adoption is studied at the bank branch level in a developing country, i.e. Pakistan. The data is collected from the branch managers of 212 bank branches from five major cities of Pakistan through mails. Self-administered survey was used for the data collection. The data was analyzed through the application of partial least square-structured equation modeling in SMART PLS 3.2.9. The measurement model and the structural model of the research framework were analyzed through the two-stage approach of the second-order analysis.
Findings
The results indicate a positive relationship between customer and competitor pressure and Green Banking adoption among bank branches in Pakistan depicting an influence of various environmental ethical pressures on bank’s adoption practices. Community pressure was shown to have no significant influence on Green Banking adoption at the branch level. The moderator of top management commitment caused a positive influence on the relationship between all the studied stakeholder pressures and Green Banking adoption. Branch managers reported branch image and operational efficiency to be enhanced due to Green Banking adoption.
Originality/value
This study attempts to fill in the significant gap in Green Banking adoption literature through an empirical analysis of Green Banking’s second-order construct. Currently, limited literature exists on the various aspects of Green Banking adoption, and an empirical study has not been conducted at the bank branch level. The study contributes significant practical, theoretical and methodological contributions to the area of Green Banking.
