Abstract
By using the acid/base concept (the electron donor/Acceptor properties) and the solubility parameter it is possible to obtain a greater understanding of the interaction between pigments, binders and solvents. When higher colour strength, better flocculation resistance, gloss and rheology are obtained in a formulation by using these concepts, the cost of the raw materials can be reduced.
