Abstract
Purpose
Lean management is a contemporary management system that firms adopt to boost their performance. Lean management can be integrated with human resources management to develop a new concept of lean human resources management (LHRM). This entails the implementation of several practices. However, the LHRM–performance paradigm remains underexplored in the literature. Hence, this study aims to examine the interrelationships between LHRM practices and the impacts of those practices on firm performance (FP).
Design/methodology/approach
Using two equal-sized samples (n = 250 each) of manufacturing firms in Jordan and Germany, this study proposes two structural equation models (i.e. a Jordanian and a German models) depicting the interrelationships between LHRM practices and the impacts of those practices on FP. After testing these models, a comparison between them is conducted, producing findings with theoretical and practical implications.
Findings
The main findings of this study indicate that the average implementation of LHRM practices among German manufacturing firms is at a higher level than the average implementation among Jordanian firms. The findings also support the proposed interrelationships between LHRM practices and the impact of those practices on FP for both the Jordanian and German models.
Originality/value
To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is among the first to highlight the proposed relationships, both in general and in the context of comparing developed and developing countries. Its findings have important implications that can enable manufacturing managers to benefit from the implementation of LHRM practices to enhance FP in different contexts. These findings provide valuable insights for human resource managers and decision-makers and open several avenues for future research.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to investigate the impact of implementing various robotic systems in logistics and supply chain management on corporate performance in Jordanian manufacturing companies, focusing on environmental, operational, economic, and social dimensions.
Design/methodology/approach
Using a quantitative approach, data was collected through a survey questionnaire to measure the relationship between robotic systems and several performance dimensions. Various established constructs were employed, and the structural relationships were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to assess the complex interdependencies within the model.
Findings
The results of this study indicate that the adoption of robotic systems has a positive influence on the environmental, operational, economic, and social performance of Jordanian manufacturing companies. In contrast to prior research that revealed inconsistencies in the social dimension, our findings align with previous studies highlighting the benefits of robotics in logistics and supply chain management. However, it’s worth noting that this study did not uncover similar inconsistencies, particularly in terms of the impact on social performance.
Practical implications
The study provides valuable insights for manufacturing companies considering the implementation of robotic systems, highlighting the need to evaluate the environmental, operational, social, and economic consequences. This understanding can help organizations make informed decisions to leverage the benefits of robotics for sustainable growth.
Originality/value
This study contributes to the growing literature on robotics in logistics and supply chain management, specifically focusing on the unique context of Jordanian manufacturing companies. By examining the multifaceted impact of robotic systems, this study extends the understanding of the role of technology in enhancing corporate performance.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to evaluate the enhancement in prosthetic supply chain capabilities resulting from the implementation of additive manufacturing (AM) technologies. The study presents an emerging model outlining the key areas that undergo changes when integrating 3D printing technologies into the prosthetic supply chain.
Design/methodology/approach
Employing a qualitative approach, data were collected through field observations and 31 in-depth interviews conducted within various Jordanian organizations associated with the prosthetic industry and 3D printing technologies.
Findings
The findings suggest that the adoption of 3D printing technologies improves the prosthetic supply chain’s capabilities in terms of customization, responsiveness, innovation, environmental sustainability, cost minimization and patient empowerment. The study sheds light on the specific areas affected in the prosthetic supply chain following the adoption of 3D printing technologies, emphasizing the overall improvement in supply chain capabilities within the prosthetic industry.
Practical implications
This study provides recommendations for governmental bodies and prosthetic organizations to maximize the benefits derived from the use of 3D printing technologies.
Originality/value
This study contributes as the first of its kind in exploring the impact of 3D printing technology adoption in the Jordanian prosthetic industry, elucidating the effects on the supply chain and identifying challenges for decision-makers in an emerging market context.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to explore and address critical aspects of IoT adoption within supply chains by identifying the key enablers and barriers, examining the drivers and challenges, and assessing the benefits and drawbacks associated with IoT implementation. Additionally, the study aims to provide insights into how organizations can leverage IoT to enhance supply chain performance across economic, operational, social, and environmental dimensions.
Design/methodology/approach
This study employed a systematic literature review strategy to identify relevant research published between 2009 and 2024. Using the Scopus database, an initial search yielded 369 publications. Preliminary selection criteria were then applied to narrow down the articles for further detailed evaluation. This process led to an in-depth review of 123 publications, from which data were meticulously extracted, organized into tables and analyzed. Finally, the authors developed a categorization system based on the scope and temporal aspects of IoT implementation.
Findings
This study developed a comprehensive model that identified six themes influencing IoT implementation in supply chains: pre-implementation enablers and barriers, drivers and challenges during implementation, and post-implementation benefits and drawbacks. Recommendations were mapped into four performance dimensions: environmental, social, operational, and economic. The analysis showed that IoT can enhance supply chain risk management, process integration, sustainability, collaboration, resilience, and performance measurement. Key technologies aiding IoT implementation include blockchain, radio frequency identification (RFID), enterprise resource planning (ERP), and cloud computing.
Originality/value
This study is one of the few to conduct a comprehensive review of widely cited papers on IoT adoption in supply chains. It systematically summarizes the enablers, barriers, drivers, challenges, benefits, and drawbacks associated with such adoption. Furthermore, it proposes a distinctive model designed to assist organizations in successfully implementing IoT technologies, thereby filling a critical gap in the existing literature.

This study conducts a thorough literature review and meta-analysis to explore the adoption of blockchain technology (BCT) in supply chain management (SCM). It aims to identify the potential benefits, challenges, and critical factors influencing the implementation of this technology in supply chains.
Design/methodology/approach
A systematic analysis of 157 highly cited publications is performed, offering insights into research trends, citations, industries, research methods, and contextual aspects. Thematic analysis is employed to uncover key findings regarding enablers, barriers, drivers, challenges, benefits, and drawbacks associated with BCT adoption in supply chains.
Findings
The analysis highlights the complexities and opportunities involved in adopting BCT in SCM. A proposed model aligns with five dimensions, including inter-organizational, intra-organizational, technological, legal, and to assist businesses in harnessing the potential of BCT, overcoming obstacles, and managing challenges. This model provides practical recommendations for navigating the intricacies of BCT implementation while balancing associated challenges and risks.
Practical implications
Organizations operating in supply chains can leverage the insights gained from this investigation to position themselves at the forefront of BCT adoption. By implementing the proposed model, they can unlock benefits such as increased transparency, efficiency, trust, and cost reduction.
Originality/value
The novelty of this paper lies in its extensive review of publications on Blockchain Technology adoption in supply chains. It offers insights into various aspects such as enablers, barriers, drivers, challenges, benefits, and drawbacks. Additionally, the paper presents a comprehensive model specifically designed for successful adoption of Blockchain Technology in supply chains. This model addresses multiple dimensions including inter-organizational, intra-organizational, technological, legal, and financial.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to explore the factors that affect higher education students’ behavioral intention and use of social media for educational purposes in the COVID-19 era, where the UTAUT2 model was adopted.
Design/methodology/approach
Convenience sampling was used to collect the required sample size and 301 completed questionnaires were analyzed. The collected data was analyzed using SPSS and SmartPLS4.
Findings
The analysis highlights in this study that eight hypotheses were supported, whereas six were not. The evidence from this study suggests that students in Oman have the needed resources that facilitate their adoption and use of social media for learning. Also, they have a more robust tendency level for the intention to use it in the future. With these in hand, higher education institutions must enforce the use of social media in education to take advantage of its availability where students can access valuable learning content at no cost.
Originality/value
This study offers empirical evidence on critical success factors underlying using online learning systems that can help system developers, higher education institutions and policymakers develop better strategies and systems that can support students' online learning and education.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to examine mediating role of individual performance between the association of organizational politics and organizational performance in Jordanian public sector.
Design/methodology/approach
The partial least squares–structural equation modeling was conducted to test the suggested hypotheses.
Findings
The findings revealed that organizational performance is significantly and negatively influenced by organizational politics and positively influenced by individual performance. In addition, the results also revealed that individual performance is significantly and negatively influenced by organizational politics. Finally, the results show that individual performance has mediated the association between organizational politics and organizational performance, and hence last hypothesis was accepted.
Originality/value
The current study provides several recommendations to the decision-makers in the Jordanian public sector, including enhancing transparency and publishing policies and regulations in a general and easily accessible manner.
