Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to investigate the photocatalytic activity of zinc doped MAO-TiO2 films under the optimum MAO treatment condition.
Design/methodology/approach
The coating was prepared by micro arc oxidation, and the influence of doping on the properties of the coating was also investigated.
Findings
The results show that the BET surface area is 78.25±0.03m2/g, total pore area is 76.32 ± 0.04m2/g, and the total pore volume is 0.2135 ± 0.0004cm3/g. The degradation ratio of the film electrode with Zn-doped in methyl orange solution is up to 94%. When the react circles is 10 times, the degradation ratio is up to more than 85% and remains steady. With the different reaction conditions, these kinetics of the reactions show some different formulas.
Originality/value
A kinetic equation for photocatalytic activity is established.

Abstract
Purpose
A wealth of studies have identified numerous antecedents to online self-disclosure. However, the number of competing theoretical perspectives and inconsistent findings have hampered efforts to obtain a clear understanding of what truly influences online self-disclosure. To address this gap, this study draws on the antecedent-privacy concern-outcome (APCO) framework in a one-stage meta-analytical structural equation modeling (one-stage MASEM) study to test a nomological online self-disclosure model that assesses the factors affecting online self-disclosure.
Design/methodology/approach
Using the one-stage MASEM technique, this study conducts a meta-analysis of online self-disclosure literature that comprises 130 independent samples extracted from 110 articles reported by 53,024 individuals.
Findings
The results reveal that trust, privacy concern, privacy risk and privacy benefit are the important antecedents of online self-disclosure. Privacy concern can be influenced by general privacy concern, privacy experience and privacy control. Furthermore, moderator analysis indicates that technology type has moderating effects on the links between online self-disclosure and some of its drivers.
Originality/value
First, with the guidance of the APCO framework, this study provides a comprehensive framework that connects the most relevant antecedents underlying online self-disclosure using one-stage MASEM. Second, this study identifies the contextual factors that influence the effectiveness of the antecedents of online self-disclosure.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper proposes that the trade-off between medical benefits and privacy concerns among mHealth users extends to their disclosure intentions, manifested as individuals simultaneously holding intentions to tend to disclose in the near future and to reduce disclosure in the distant future. Consequently, this paper aims to explore the privacy decision-making process of mHealth users from the perspective of a dual trade-off.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper constructs the model using the privacy calculus theory and the antecedent-privacy concern-outcome framework. It employs the construal level theory to evaluate the impact of privacy calculus on two types of disclosure intentions. The study empirically tests the model using a data sample of 386 mHealth users.
Findings
The results indicate that perceived benefits positively affect both near-future and distant-future disclosure intentions. In contrast, perceived risks just negatively affect distant-future disclosure intention. Additionally, perceived benefits, near-future and distant-future disclosure intentions positively affect disclosure behavior. The findings also reveal that privacy management perception positively affects perceived benefits. Personalized services and privacy invasion experience positively affect perceived benefits and risks, while trust negatively affects perceived risks.
Originality/value
This paper considers the trade-off in the privacy calculus phase as the first trade-off. On this basis, this trade-off will extend to the disclosure intention. The individuals’ two times of trade-offs between privacy concerns and medical benefits constitute the dual trade-off perspective. This paper first uses this perspective to explore the privacy decision-making process of mHealth users. This paper employs the construal level theory to effectively evaluate the impact of privacy calculus on both disclosure intentions in mHealth, extending the theory’s applicability. Moreover, we introduce antecedents of privacy calculus from the perspectives of platform, society, and individuals, enhancing the study’s realism. The research findings provide a basis for mHealth platforms to better cater to users’ privacy needs.

Purpose
In the paradox of personalized services and privacy risks, what factors influence users’ decisions is considered an interesting issue worth exploring. The current study aims to empirically explore privacy behavior of social media users by developing a theoretical model based on privacy calculus theory.
Design/methodology/approach
Privacy risks, conceptualized as natural risks and integrated risks, were proposed to affect the intention of privacy disclosure and protection. The model was validated through a hybrid approach of structural equation modeling (SEM)-artificial neural network (ANN) to analyze the data collected from 527 effective responses.
Findings
The results from the SEM analysis indicated that social interaction and perceived enjoyment were strong determinants of perceived benefits, which in turn played a dominant role in the intention to disclose the privacy in social media. Similarly, trust and privacy invasion experience were significantly related to perceived risks that had the most considerable effect on users’ privacy protection intention. And the following ANN models revealed consistent relationships and rankings with the SEM results.
Originality/value
This study broadened the application perspective of privacy calculus theory to identify both linear and non-linear effects of privacy risks and privacy benefits on users’ intention to disclose or protect their privacy by using a state-of-the-art methodological approach combining SEM and ANN.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to trial a novel method of improving the performance of rail systems. Accordingly, an evaluation of rail system dynamics (SD) using discrete event simulation (DES) will be undertaken. Globally, cities and their transportation systems face ongoing challenges with many of these resulting from complicated rail SD. To evaluate these challenges, this study utilized DES as the basis of the analysis of Melbourne Metro Rail's SD. The transportation SD processes including efficiency and reliability were also developed.
Design/methodology/approach
Using DES, this research examines and determines the Melbourne Metro Rail's SD. Although the Melbourne Metro Rail is still in progress, the DES developed in this research examined the system requirements of functionality, performance and integration. As the basis of this examination, the Melbourne Metro Rail's optimization was simulated using the developed DES. As the basis of the experiment, a total of 50 trials were simulated. This included 25 samples for each of efficiency and reliability. The simulation not only scrutinized the SD but also underlined some of its shortfalls.
Findings
This study found that information and communication technology (ICT) was the pinnacle of system application. The DES development highlighted that both efficiency and reliability rates are the essential SD and thus fundamental for Melbourne Metro Rail system functionality. Specifically, the three elements of SD, capacity, continuity and integration are considered critical in improving the system functionality of Melbourne Metro Rail.
Research limitations/implications
This particular mega rail infrastructure system was carefully analyzed, and subsequently, the DES was developed. However, since the DES is at its inception, the results are relatively limited without inclusive system calibration or validation process. Nonetheless, with some modifications, such as using different KPIs to evaluate additional systems variables and setting appropriate parameters to test the system reliability measures at different intensities, the developed DES can be modified to examine and evaluate other rail systems. However, if a broader system analysis is required, the DES model subsequently needs to be modified to specific system parameters.
Practical implications
Through evaluation of Melbourne's Metro Rail in the manner described above, this research has shown the developed DES is a useful platform to understand and evaluate system efficiency and reliability. Such an evaluation is considered important when implementing new transport systems, particularly when they are being integrated into existing networks.
Social implications
Efficient rail networks are critical for modern cities and such systems, while inherently complex, aid local economies and societal cohesion through predictable and reliable movement of people. Through improved system functionality and greater efficiencies, plus improved passenger safety, security and comfort, the traveling public will benefit from the enhanced reliability of the transportation network that results from research as that provided in this paper.
Originality/value
This research paper is the first of its kind specifically focusing on the application of DES on the Melbourne Metro Rail System. The developed model aligns with the efficiency optimization framework, which is central to rail systems. The model shows the relationship between increased efficiency and optimizing system reliability. In comparison with more advanced mathematical modeling, the DES presented in this research provides robust, but yet rapid and uncomplicated system enhancements. These findings can better prepare rail professionals to adequately plan and devise appropriate system measures.

In the era of generative artificial intelligence (AI), big data analytics, business analytics and mega global digital corporations, the profession of marketing is at a crossroads between ‘Prosumer-Marketing’ and ‘Market Grooming’. Whereas prosumer (producers + consumers) marketing means a process of exchange in which producers and consumers have equal, just, control, voluntary, fully aware engagement and control over the process of design, development and exchange of goods, services and values. On the other hand, ‘Market Grooming’ is a one-sided, unethical process of conditioning or influencing, deceiving, or persuading or manipulating and even exploiting customers by the marketing organisations, without customers' voluntary consent, permissions, awareness, etc. As the consumers have asymmetric access to information, asymmetric and lesser favourable levels of control, and lesser power in the process of exchange, as customers trust the marketers or are dependent on popular brands, the markers tend to exploit the situation. The process of market grooming has become easier due to the power of AI, generative AI, ChatGPT, TikToketing, machine learning and big data analytics leading to the development of sophisticated predictive models and persuasive models. This chapter explores and analyses a range of techniques in marketing such as permission marketing, flywheel marketing, subliminal marketing, neuromarketing, cyberstalking, ethical marketing, etc., in the era of AI. The arguments for high concerns pertaining to potential market grooming are supported by theories of ethics, theories of digital marketing and models of AI. The chapter concludes with some strategic recommendations.

Purpose
Companies are actively pursuing digital transformation to achieve sustainable development; however, how digital transformation can help manufacturing firms improve carbon performance remains unclear. Based on an integrated perspective of dynamic capability theory and practice-based view, this study examines the relationship between digital transformation and carbon performance by exploring the mediating effect of supply chain intelligence integration and the moderating role of business model innovation.
Design/methodology/approach
Using data collected from 297 manufacturing firms in China, this study employs hierarchical regression analysis to test the research hypotheses.
Findings
The findings demonstrated a significant positive association between digital transformation and carbon performance, and this relationship is mediated by all three dimensions of supply chain intelligence integration. Furthermore, business model innovation negatively moderates the relationships between digital transformation and both supplier intelligence integration and competitor intelligence integration.
Originality/value
The study provides empirical evidence that manufacturing firms can achieve greater benefits from digital transformation by aligning it with business model innovation and systematically promoting supply chain intelligence integration.

Abstract
Recently the route connecting the trans-Korean railway and the trans-Siberian railway has become of particular interest for many academics and policy-makers in East Asian countries. The extensive review of previous studies, however, reveals that literature on the subject is lacking solid analytical framework. Most studies are one-sided, focusing on the political aspects of the issue or paying little attention to the economic aspects of the problem.
This study intends to develop an analytical framework through which the most efficient route among four major alternative routes connecting the trans-Korean and trans-Siberian railways can be identified. It attempts to assign priorities to the four alternative routes according to their level of economic efficiency.
This study utilizes a simple cost-benefit analysis in evaluating the four routes. Cost side, transportation time, effectiveness of customs procedures, and gauge difference are selected as the main economic factors. The volume of cargo, industrial production in adjacent regions, access to natural resources, and market size and foreign investment climate are used to evaluate the benefits of the routes.
The study concludes that Route 3, which connects ‘Busan - Seoul (South Korea) –Pyongyang -Sinuiju (North Korea) –Shenyang –Beijing - Erenhot (China) –Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia) –Ulan-Ude - Moscow (Russia)’ is the most efficient route.
