Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to look into the role of transformational leadership and transactional leadership as predictors of employee creativity and organisational innovation. Employee creativity is examined as a potential mediator in the leadership styles–organisational innovation relationships.
Design/methodology/approach
A cross-sectional, quantitative design was adopted and structural equation modelling (SEM) techniques were used to analyse data collected from 369 employees working in 39 public coffee enterprises in Vietnam.
Findings
Transformational leadership and transactional leadership were significant predictors of employee creativity and organisational innovation. Specifically, transformational leadership was instrumental to employee creativity and organisational innovation while transactional leadership was detrimental to these two variables. Additionally, employee creativity partially mediated the relationships between the two leadership styles and organisational innovation.
Practical implications
Results of this study benefit the management of organisations and policy makers by providing an insight of which leadership style will effectively suit public enterprises to promote employee creativity and foster organisational innovation.
Originality/value
While there is a lack of studies investigating organisational innovation in organisational methods and that the interrelationships between leadership styles, employee creativity and organisational innovation are not fully understood, this study pioneers in examining relationships between leadership styles and organisational innovation that is being mediated by employee creativity. Figuring out that organisational innovation is more likely to be fostered by the positive influence of leadership behaviours and the improvement of employee creativity, in particular, the significant role of employee creativity represents important contributions of the current study.

Abstract
Purpose
This study proposes a serial mediation model to investigate the factors influencing hospitality and tourism (H&T) students' destination choice intentions in an experiential learning context. By extending the theory of planned behavior (TPB) model to include extended variables and the stimulus-organism-response (S-O-R) theory, this study explores pathways in which experiential learning involvement (IEL) and destination emotions (DE) interact with attitude (ATT), subjective norms (SN) and perceived behavioral control (PBC) to predict H&T students' intentions (ITT). This work also examines the moderating role of destination familiarity (DF) on relationships between destination emotions and attitudes, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control.
Design/methodology/approach
The conceptual model and research hypotheses were each assessed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). Paper-based surveys were used to collect data from 715 students majoring in tourism and hospitality training at schools in Vietnam and applying experiential learning activities during their training.
Findings
Research results confirm a serial mediation model wherein IEL and DE promote the formation of intention to choose a specific destination through various pathways: IEL? PBC? ITT; IEL? DE? SN/PBC? ITT and DE? SN/PBC? ITT. In addition, the results show that destination familiarity dampens the relationship between emotions and attitudes as well as with perceived behavioral control.
Practical implications
This study offers practical recommendations for destination management organizations (DMOs) seeking to increase the intention of H&T students to choose their particular destination. These recommendations include: forming strategic alliances with H&T educational institutions; implementing preferential policies like discounted or free admission to attractions and corporate discounts for students; launching targeted digital marketing campaigns on social media platforms and promoting the destination through youth-oriented media such as television shows and music videos.
Originality/value
From addressing the research gap by developing and testing a serial mediation model of destination choice intention of H&T students in an experiential learning context, this study offers new insights into developing scales of constructs in the research model associated with the context of experiential learning and highlights the importance of IEL and DE as a stimulus to achieve ATT, SN and PBC, all of which serve to increase H&T students' intention to choose a destination through different paths under the moderating lens of destination familiarly.

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to supply an analytical steady-state solution to the heat transfer equation permitting to fast design investigation. The capability to efficiently transfer the heat away from high-powered electronic devices is a ceaseless challenge. More than ever, the aluminium or copper heat spreaders seem less suitable for maintaining the component sensitive temperature below manufacturer operating limits. Emerging materials, such as annealed pyrolytic graphite (APG), have proposed a new alternative to conventional solid conduction without the gravity dependence of a heat-pipe solution.
Design/methodology/approach
An APG material is typically sandwiched between a pair of aluminium sheets to compose a robust graphite-based structure. The thermal behaviour of that stacked structure and the effect of the sensitivity of the design parameters on the effective thermal performances is not well known. The ultrahigh thermal conductivity of the APG core is restricted to in-plane conduction and can be 200 times higher than its through-the-thickness conductivity. So, a lower-than-anticipated cross-plane thermal conductivity or a higher-than-anticipated interlayer thermal resistance will compromise the component heat transfer to a cold structure. To analyse the sensitivity of these parameters, an analytical model for a multi-layered structure based on the Fourier series and the superposition principle was developed, which allows predicting the temperature distribution over an APG flat-plate depending on two interlayer thermal resistances.
Findings
The current work confirms that the in-plane thermal conductivity of APG is among the highest of any conduction material commonly used in electronic cooling. The analysed case reveals that an effective thermal conductivity twice as higher than copper can be expected for a thick APG sheet. The relevance of the developed analytical approach was compared to numerical simulations and experiments for a set of boundary conditions. The comparison shows a high agreement between both calculations to predict the centroid and average temperatures of the heating sources. Further, a method dedicated to the practical characterization of the effective thermal conductivity of an APG heat-spreader is promoted.
Research limitations/implications
The interlayer thermal resistances act as dissipation bottlenecks which magnify the performance discrepancy. The quantification of a realistic value is more than ever mandatory to assess the APG heat-spreader technology.
Practical implications
Conventional heat spreaders seem less suitable for maintaining the component-sensitive temperature below the manufacturer operating limits. Having an in-plane thermal conductivity of 1,600 W.m−1.K−1, the APG material seems to be the next paradigm for solving endless needs of a thermal designer.
Originality/value
This approach is a practical tool to tailor sensitive parameters early to select the right design concept by taking into account potential thermal issues, such as the critical interlayer thermal resistance.

The net-present-value (NPV) method is well-known for its drawbacks. To overcome some of these NPV weaknesses this paper aims to provide a methodology to determine an optimal concession period that treats risk and time separately. The purpose of this paper is to apply the notion of risk-adjusted decoupled net present value (risk-adjusted DNPV) to determine a conception period taken into consideration synthetic insurance premiums as compensation for risks.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper conducts theoretical and empirical analysis and provides an integrated model for deriving concession periods of any PPP projects. The model is able to capture several contractual issues such risks costing and other contractual scenarios. Methodologically, the paper addressees both the issues of risk-based cost–benefit analysis and cash flow analysis bearing an emphasis of risk-adjusted DNPV to compute an optimum concession period.
Findings
The results show that using DNPV will produce a shorter concession period comparatively to NPV. The consequence of this is that the public sector will gain financially from an earlier transfer of the concession.
Research limitations/implications
This paper contributes to the PPP literature by combing DNPV and risk to determine the PPP concession period for the mutual benefits both the private and public sectors. The decoupling of risk from traditional NPV computation will allow for risk pricing and tradability through insurance and allocation.
Originality/value
The attempt to decouple time and risk in the computation of NPV is the added value to the body of knowledge.

Purpose
This study aims to introduce an effective optimization algorithm for finding the suitable penetration of renewable distributed generators (RDGs) in the power system. The target of this research is to minimize the total costs, including the cost of emissions, the cost of purchasing electricity from the primary grid and the cost of branch power losses.
Design/methodology/approach
Energy valley optimizer (EVO) is applied to solve the optimization problem for determining the integration of photovoltaic units and wind turbine units in the system. This study considers the time variation of load demand and output power of units to improve the quality of the found solution. Simulation results are collected for evaluating the performance of the used methods in the same conditions.
Findings
The results indicated the huge economic and technical benefits from adopting the optimal solution of placement and sizing of RDGs in the power system. Besides, the outstanding efficiency of EVO is also proven through comparison with sunflower optimizer, drawer algorithm, osprey optimization algorithm, genetic algorithm, particle swarm optimization and artificial bee colony algorithm.
Originality/value
The mathematical models for the objective function and the constraints are appropriately described for the optimization problem. A simulation program for applying the optimization algorithms to the above problem is developed in the MATLAB software. The simulation results demonstrated the excellent benefits not only economically but also technically for the hybrid distribution system.

Purpose
Understanding the behavioral change process of system users to adopt safe security practices is important to the success of an organization’s cybersecurity program. This study aims to explore how the 7Ps (product, price, promotion, place, physical evidence, process and people) marketing mix, as part of an internal social marketing approach, can be used to gain an understanding of employees’ interactions within an organization’s cybersecurity environment. This understanding could inform the design of servicescapes and behavioral infrastructure to promote and maintain cybersecurity compliance.
Design/methodology/approach
This study adopted an inductive qualitative approach using in-depth interviews with employees in several Vietnamese organizations. Discussions were centered on employee experiences and their perceptions of cybersecurity initiatives, as well as the impact of initiatives on compliance behavior. Responses were then categorized under the 7Ps marketing mix framework.
Findings
The study shows that assessing a cybersecurity program using the 7P mix enables the systematic capture of users’ security compliance and acceptance of IT systems. Additionally, understanding the interactions between system elements permits the design of behavioral infrastructure to enhance security efforts. Results also show that user engagement is essential in developing secure systems. User engagement requires developing shared objectives, localized communications, co-designing of efficient processes and understanding the “pain points” of security compliance. The knowledge developed from this research provides a framework for those managing cybersecurity systems and enables the design human-centered systems conducive to compliance.
Originality/value
The study is one of the first to use a cross-disciplinary social marketing approach to examine how employees experience and comply with security initiatives. Previous studies have mostly focused on determinants of compliance behavior without providing a clear platform for management action. Internal social marketing using 7Ps provides a simple but innovative approach to reexamine existing compliance approaches. Findings from the study could leverage proven successful marketing techniques to promote security compliance.

The main purpose of this paper is to analyze the sustainable inward FDI pattern of Vietnam.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper intends to analyze the sustainable FDI pattern of Vietnam using the gravity theory and panel data approach for the annual data over the period of 2007–2020.
Findings
Vietnamese FDI volume is positively affected by political and social factors, globalization and green energy consumption, while geographical distance is a major obstacle to the increase of FDI inflows of the country.
Practical implications
As the main practical policy implications, issuing policies for sustainable economic growth, launching the novel strategy of green FDI neighborhood policy and regionalism through free trade agreements are recommended.
Originality/value
To the best of author's knowledge, there has not been any in-depth academic study focusing on the Vietnam's sustainable FDI. In addition, three robustness checks have been conducted to ensure the validation of empirical findings.

Purpose
Organic food consumption decreases the risk of becoming obese or overweight. This study intends to see the influence of customer perceived value, COVID-19 fear, food neophobia, effort and natural content on the intention to purchase organic food (IPOF) that leads to the actual purchase of organic food (APOF). Moreover, organic food availability is a moderator between IPOF and APOF.
Design/methodology/approach
PLS-SEM is used for hypothesis testing. A purposive sampling technique was followed to gather data from organic food consumers in Lahore, Gujranwala and Islamabad and a total of 479 questionnaires were part of the analysis.
Findings
The outcomes show that customer perceived value, effort and natural content is positively related to IPOF. Despite this, COVID-19 fear and food neophobia are negatively associated with IPOF. IPOF and organic food availability are positively related to APOF. Finally, organic food availability significantly moderated between IPOF and APOF.
Practical implications
This study outcome reveals that companies of organic food can recognize customer perceived value, COVID-19 fear, food neophobia, effort, natural content and organic food availability in their decision-making if they determine the actual purchase of organic food. This study offers a valuable policy to companies of organic food to enhance customer’s behavior in purchasing organic food in Pakistan. Besides, practitioners and academicians can benefit from this study finding.
Originality/value
This initial research integrates customer perceived value, COVID-19 fear, food neophobia, effort, natural content, IPOF and organic food availability to determine APOF in the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, consumption value theory is followed to develop the framework.

Purpose
Recent literature in environmental management suggests that fostering employees’ innovative behaviour in green service is vital for enhancing the environmental sustainability of hospitality organizations. Despite this, few efforts have been made to understand how green entrepreneurial leadership (GEL) relates to green service innovative behaviour (GSIB). This study aims to examine whether GEL can promote GSIB among hospitality employees through the serial mediation of green learning orientation (GLO) and green knowledge acquisition (GKA) using the conservation of resources theory. The authors expect environmental dynamism to strengthen the relationship between GEL and employees’ GSIB, leveraging the resource-based view theory.
Design/methodology/approach
This study collected data through a multi-wave survey (four waves, two weeks apart) from 341 employees working in three-to-five-star hotels in Pakistan’s major cities. The authors used partial least squares structural equation modelling to evaluate the hypotheses proposed in the theoretical model.
Findings
The study revealed a significant relationship between GEL and employee GSIB, mediated by GLO and GKA. In addition, environmental dynamism strengthened the relationship of GEL with employee GSIB.
Originality/value
The research advances the literature on GEL in the hospitality sector by providing insights into the mediating and moderating processes that translate GEL into GSIB among hospitality employees. Moreover, the research provides important implications for hotels investing in green initiatives and looking for ways to foster employees’ GSIB.

Abstract
Purpose
Employee green behavior contributes to the achievement of hospitality organizations’ sustainability goals. However, there is a need to examine how green human resource management (GHRM) fosters employees’ green behavior. Anchored on the conservation of resources (COR) theory, we anticipate that GHRM may have double-edged effects on employees’ organizational citizenship behavior for the environment (OCBE) via two opposing mechanisms (e.g. environmental passion and emotional exhaustion). Moreover, we expect that the relationship of GHRM on environmental passion and emotional exhaustion depends on environmentally specific empowering leadership (ESEL).
Design/methodology/approach
The data were garnered from 356 hospitality employees in Pakistan and analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM).
Findings
The findings revealed a significant and positive link between GHRM and employee OCBE and environmental passion and a significant and negative relationship between GHRM and emotional exhaustion. Similarly, the link between environmental passion and employee OCBE was significant and positive and between emotional exhaustion and employee OCBE was significant and negative. Our results indicate that the impact of GHRM on OCBE among hospitality employees was mediated by environmental passion and emotional exhaustion. Further, ESEL strengthened the association of GHRM with environmental passion while mitigating the effect of GHRM on emotional exhaustion.
Originality/value
Anchored on the COR theory, our study provides novel empirical evidence by investigating the mechanisms and boundary conditions between GHRM and employee OCBE nexus in the hospitality realm.
