Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to analyse the variations of thermal comfort inside a building space by using different curtains.
Design/methodology/approach
Phase change materials (PCMs) such as wax, sand and mixture of sand and wax were used with cotton curtain to compare the results of PCM curtains with the performance of normal cotton curtain against constant heat exposure. Heat exposure was provided with halogen to simulate the solar radiation. Further simulation was performed on ANSYS and experimental results were compared with the simulation results. In addition to this, the results were analysed for optimized performance by calculation root mean square error.
Findings
It was found that PCM used curtains that have better performance than normal curtain. Furthermore, sand curtain was proved as the best curtain and mixture of sand and wax curtain could replace the sand curtain where there is limitation of weight; also, there was less error between experimental and simulation was reported for sand curtain as compare to other curtains.
Research limitations/implications
Layers of different PCMs were used before cotton curtain and in modelling assumptions such as one-dimensional heat transfer, uniform thermal conductivity.
Originality/value
To the best of the authors’ knowledge, there is no such study that was performed earlier.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to explore the use of smartphone-embedded microelectro-mechanical sensors (MEMS) for accurately estimating rotating machinery speed, crucial for various condition monitoring tasks. Rotating machinery (RM) serves a crucial role in diverse applications, necessitating accurate speed estimation essential for condition monitoring (CM) tasks such as vibration analysis, efficiency evaluation and predictive assessment.
Design/methodology/approach
This research explores the utilization of MEMS embedded in smartphones to economically estimate RM speed. A series of experiments were conducted across three test setups, comparing smartphone-based speed estimation to traditional methods. Rigorous testing spanned various dimensions, including scenarios of limited data availability, diverse speed applications and different smartphone placements on RM surfaces.
Findings
The methodology demonstrated exceptional performance across low and high-speed contexts. Smartphones-MEMS accurately estimated speed regardless of their placement on surfaces like metal and fiber, presenting promising outcomes with a mere 6 RPM maximum error. Statistical analysis, using a two-sample t-test, compared smartphone-derived speed outcomes with those from a tachometer and high-quality (HQ) data acquisition system.
Research limitations/implications
The research limitations include the need for further investigation into smartphone sensor calibration and accuracy in extremely high-speed scenarios. Future research could focus on refining these aspects.
Social implications
The societal impact is substantial, offering cost-effective CM across various industries and encouraging further exploration of MEMS-based vibration monitoring.
Originality/value
This research showcases an innovative approach using smartphone-embedded MEMS for RM speed estimation. The study’s multidimensional testing highlights its originality in addressing scenarios with limited data and varied speed applications.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to propose a model developed through a thorough qualitative analysis of pertinent stakeholder perceptions that can be used to map Master of Business Administration (MBA) students’ aspirations, goals, strengths and weaknesses to create optimal interventions and enable better employability.
Design/methodology/approach
This study used an exploratory research design. The authors conducted interviews with 60 stakeholders to identify themes that form constituents of the E-Career Canvas for Individuals (E-CCI) model. To assess the impact of the proposed initiative, 30 random participants were chosen for interviews from among alumni, present students, faculty, recruiters and the university administration across five years.
Findings
The proposed model captures the short-term and long-term goals of students concerning their career aspirations. This study has qualitatively explored the impacts of the E-CCI initiative on graduating students’ outcomes. The impacts are positive. The findings also suggest that recruiters do experience an incremental difference among graduates who have participated in the E-CCI program at an educational institute in India.
Practical implications
Business schools may adopt this model to create profiles of their MBA students. Students, as well as institutional administration, may work on mitigating the shortcomings and weaknesses identified through E-CCI initiatives and target the roles matching the profiles of students during placements.
Originality/value
This paper presents a novel model of E-CCI to capture the aspirations of MBA graduates and direct them to fulfil their goals. This study takes into consideration the viewpoints of key stakeholders involved to map the effectiveness of the model.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to model the key influencers or predictors for usage of technology by sales professionals in India.
Design/methodology/approach
This study examines the effect of individual, organizational and social factors on the use of technology. The method used for primary research is survey, and data have been collected from 556 sales professionals from across four industries in India. The empirical analysis consists of confirmatory factor analysis using structural equation modeling.
Findings
Confirmatory factor analysis has been used to validate the constructs, namely, peer usage, support service, perceived usefulness, attitude, usage and performance. Based on the results, it has been concluded that attitude and peer usage have a direct effect on the use of technology. Support service affects peer usage and perceived usefulness affects attitude. This model helps us understand the direct and indirect predictors of use of sales technology (ST), and its effect on sales performance.
Research limitations/implications
The limitation of this study is that data pertain to India only.
Practical implications
The findings of this paper will help sales managers and organizations develop strategies to increase the acceptance and use of new technologies, and also strengthen their arguments for convincing the various stakeholders about the benefits and relevance of the ST.
Originality/value
The paper attempts to build and validate a parsimonious model taking into account peer usage (social factor) and support service (organizational factor) in addition to perceived usefulness and attitude.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the moderating role of workplace spirituality (WS) in the relationship between team transformational leadership (TTL) and team viability (TV) under the theoretical lens of the theory of optimal distinctiveness of identities.
Design/methodology/approach
This study adopted quantitative, cross-sectional research design at the team level of analysis among 141 software development project teams that belonged to 22 information technology (IT) organizations in the Indian IT sector to evaluate the effect of TTL behavior on TV under the conditional presence of WS.
Findings
This research has found empirical evidence to show that TTL is positively associated with TV or the team members’ desire to be a part of future performance episodes of their team. However, this research has shown that the relative effect of WS on the relationship between TTL and TV is weaker in those teams that experience higher levels of WS than those teams that experience lower levels of WS.
Originality/value
This research’s originality exists in its team-level conceptualization of WS, a gap in prior research addressed by this paper, in order to evaluate the interactive effects of team-level conceptualizations of transformational leadership and WS on TV. Further, this paper’s originality stems from the explanation of TV as the result of desirable balance between team members’ needs for within-team inclusion and within-team differentiation.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to gain a new perspective on auditing by measuring investors’ fraud perception and to reveal the necessity of increasing individuals’ fraud perception by determining the effect of fraud perception on the intention to invest in crypto assets from the investor’s perspective.
Design/methodology/approach
As part of this quantitative research, a survey was conducted on individuals residing in Türkiye and aged 18 years and above through a convenience sampling method. A total of 446 participants were included in the study. The data collected was analyzed using the partial least squares-variance based structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) method using the SmartPLS program.
Findings
Fraud perception causes individuals to be more risk-averse and reduces their intention to invest in crypto assets. At the same time, it has been observed that risk-averse individuals have lower intention to invest in crypto assets. According to the results of the mediating effect analysis, risk aversion behavior partially mediates between the fraud perception and the intention to invest in crypto assets. Among the emotions, only fear increases risk aversion behavior. Among the personality traits, extroversion and openness to experience personality traits reduce risk aversion behavior, whereas neuroticism personality traits increase the intention to invest in crypto assets.
Originality/value
In an environment where traditional auditing activities are insufficient, increasing investors’ perceptions of fraud can reduce fraud-related losses. In this context, to the best of the authors’ knowledge, the present study might be among the first to investigate the impact of individuals’ perceptions of fraud on their investment intentions in crypto assets.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of the study is to explore the relationship among organisation information technology support (OITS), knowledge sharing behaviour (KSB) and service innovation performance (SIP) in the context of the Indian Hospitality Industry (IHI). This study also attempts to examine the role of KSB as a mediator in the relationship between IT support and SIP and the firm age test as a moderating variable for service innovation performance.
Design/methodology/approach
Proposed relations are empirically examined, and the study was carried out on 115 employees from 71 randomly selected hotels situated in the major five travel destinations of Uttarakhand state of India. Initially, confirmatory factor analysis was performed to validate the construct, afterword structural equation modeling (SEM)-Path analysis was accomplished. The researcher examines the mediation and moderation relations of the variables through statistical tests executed with the help of AMOS 24 and SPSS 26.
Findings
The study result indicated that organisation IT support has a positive influence on knowledge sharing and SIP. The mediation result findings showed KSB is partially mediated between OITS and SIP. Sequentially, firm age moderation found the statistical results shown significant difference in young and old hotels.
Research limitations/implications
This study only covers the aspect of the “knowledge sharing behaviour” dimension among the major organizations’ IT support capabilities and examined both variables that might be anticipated in SIP. Considering this limitation, new areas of research investigation are open to future researchers.
Practical implications
The study has both theoretical and managerial implications for academicians, practitioners and researchers. An attempt to conceptualise detailed insights on organisational IT support adaptation and KSB enhancement, which further leads to lifting SIP. Moreover, the study recommended for professionals to implement KM practices and mobilise the knowledge resources optimally to achieve better organizational outcomes.
Originality/value
The study attempts to delineate the proposed relationship and provides valuable insights for practitioners and academicians by including the knowledge sharing dimension to improve the SIP context of the IHI.

Purpose
This study aims to explore tourist perceptions and behaviors toward electric vehicles (EVs) in the Delhi National Capital Region using the technology continuance theory.
Design/methodology/approach
An online survey involving 226 respondents uses structural equation modeling to analyze correlations among factors, including perceived enjoyment, facilitating conditions, ease of use, satisfaction, cost, image and performance.
Findings
This study reveals that enhancing perceived enjoyment and facilitating conditions can improve the user-friendliness of EVs. Additionally, reducing perceived cost, enhancing image and improving perceived performance can increase the perceived usefulness of EVs. Perceived ease of use strongly influences user satisfaction, while perceived usefulness and satisfaction positively impact users’ attitudes and intentions to use EVs. Although factors such as experience, environmental consciousness, age and gender influence perceptions, focusing on enjoyment, facilitating conditions, cost, image and performance can significantly enhance user satisfaction and intention to use EVs.
Research limitations/implications
The findings underscore several actionable recommendations for businesses and policymakers to boost EV adoption at tourist destinations. The potential benefits of EV adoption, such as improved environmental sustainability, enhanced technological image and increased tourist satisfaction, can serve as a source of inspiration and motivation. Enhancing user experience by prioritizing comfort and convenience in EV design is crucial. Addressing cost concerns through incentives and cost-effective pricing strategies can make EVs more appealing. Marketing campaigns highlighting environmental benefits and technological advancements can improve EV image and performance perception. Prioritizing tourists’ satisfaction and support services is essential, along with educational campaigns to increase awareness. Infrastructure development, including expanding charging networks, and supportive policies like tax incentives, can further encourage EVs adoption, accelerating the transition to sustainable transportation.
Originality/value
This research contributes to understanding tourist perspectives on EV adoption within the context of sustainable tourism and technology adoption.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to develop an interpretive structural modeling (ISM) model to investigate the critical success factors (CSF) and the extent of CSF's influence in the implementation of lean industry 4.0 in manufacturing supply chain.
Design/methodology/approach
The study has been carried out with the help of the latest literature followed by brainstorming sessions with experts. The experts were the managers from the industries, assistant professors, and research scholars from academia working in this domain. Finally, a structured model is formed using ISM methodology for the analysis of the CSFs followed by matrice d'impacts croisés multiplication appliquée á un classment (MIAMAC) Analysis for the validation of the model.
Findings
The study identifies robotics, virtual and augmented reality and cloud computing as the main CSFs which are responsible to drive all the identified CSFs. However the CSF professional training and development (PTD) has been identified as the weakest driver but having the highest dependent power.
Research limitations/implications
The study has included nine CSFs and the contextual relationships between the CSFs are based on the knowledge and experience of the experts, which may be biased. Moreover, the paper has covered the ISM approach, and the same thing can be validated using the fuzzy-ISM and other multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) techniques.
Originality/value
This investigation of the CSFs in the lean industry 4.0 is original and the identified CSFs are the result of the literature reviews and an extensive discussion from the experts. The paper uses the complete experience of the respective experts to make this work more effective and original.

Abstract
Purpose
The main purpose of this paper is to explain the preferences of consumers for using online payment services. This paper applies a unified theory model named stimulus-organism-response (S-O-R) theory for exploration.
Design/methodology/approach
This is quantitative research based on the structural equation modelling method. The stimulus-organism-response (S-O-R) theory was applied, whereby the author conducted an online survey through a structured questionnaire with users of mobile payment services. These consumers are using online payments for online shopping purposes. The survey was conducted all over India. The sample size is 355.
Findings
The study found that utilitarian, hedonic value and salesperson behaviour impact consumers satisfaction and behaviour while using online payment services. The study found that there is a significant direct relationship between consumer satisfaction and consumer behaviour. This study examines how financial mobile services contribute to e-commerce implementation, especially in the context of India.
Practical implications
This study incorporates a variety of factors, including the behaviour of salespeople, which affect consumer happiness, satisfaction and behaviour intention. This study reveals a direct relationship between consumer satisfaction and behavioural intention. Accordingly, the use of mobile banking and digital financial services has a positive impact on customer satisfaction. This study suggested that awareness about e-commerce services and mobile financial services is an important aspect of consumers satisfaction. Effective e-commerce services and mobile financial services have a positive impact on consumer behaviour.
Originality/value
This is a comprehensive model used for online payment services and directly related to emerging economies like India. This study examines the consumer willingness of the digital market in relation to online payment services. This study contributes to the relevant literature by simultaneously examining the role of e-commerce platform characteristics and online consumer psychology in influencing behavioural intention. Numerous factors have been revealed by this investigation.
