Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to present a domain decomposition method to overcome the challenges posed by multi-domain, multi-scale high frequency problems.
Design/methodology/approach
A hybrid finite element and boundary integral procedure is also presented that allows for domains to employ different solution methods in different subdomains.
Findings
By decomposing large electromagnetic regions into smaller domains, the finite element method can cope with the simulation of electrically large problems.
Practical implications
Real life examples demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the new method.
Originality/value
The Robin transmission condition (RTC) is applied to link the domains and preserve field continuity on interfaces.

BEFORE everyone gets too excited over reports of declining attendances at the national museums since the introduction of entrance charges at the beginning of January, allowances should be made for the Victoria & Albert Museum's former and now discontinued habit of counting to‐and fro‐ing staff among its visitors, and the National Gallery's inclusion of the cognoscenti who were aware that it has the only public lavatories on the northern side of Trafalgar Square. MEMBERS of the Aslib Economic and Business Information Group heard something of the objects and activities of Counter Information Services (producers of ‘anti‐reports’ on rtz, British Leyland, etc) in November. The scheduled speaker having had to withdraw at short notice, Mr Lepper manfully stepped in with a straightforward account of the origins of the organisation in a group of ‘like‐minded’ individuals with diverse backgrounds. Abstract
Purpose
This study illuminates the experiences of adults diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) and intellectual disabilities (IDs) and their challenges and successes in receiving quality healthcare services. Individuals with developmental disabilities often experience health issues associated with aging at earlier ages and at higher rates than the general population. This population has a higher incidence of chronic health conditions that require regular medical attention.
The intent of this project was to learn directly from adults and their caregivers how well healthcare providers understand autism, explore their experience with how well their care is coordinated between primary healthcare and other specialty services, and identify factors which could impact access to care and to discover what other barriers which may potentially influence health outcomes for ASD adult.
Method
A qualitative study conducted with semi-structured interviews with 12 adults diagnosed with ASD and/or their guardians/caregivers.
Findings
Some of the adults interviewed experienced negative health outcomes and suboptimal relationships with healthcare providers; others seemed to have positive relationships. Clinical and communications accommodations were necessary to make healthcare provision more comfortable. Barriers to accessing healthcare services existed in many forms.
Implications/Limitations
The healthcare needs of the growing population adults diagnosed with ASD/ID are anticipated to be significant. This challenge is further exacerbated given there are few trained healthcare providers who are prepared or dedicated to serve this population. Continuing to build awareness of the health needs of the ASD/ID adult population is critical.
Originality
This project is highly innovative as it is the first attempt to understand how the adult autism population accesses care and perceives their healthcare interactions. This study serves as a starting point to suggest new opportunities for further research for this growing population.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to investigate doctoral examiners' narratives on their expectations of the candidate's oral performance in the PhD viva. Both the PhD examiners and handbooks that offer advice on the PhD viva preparation appear to share the same expectation of the candidate's oral performance in the viva. That is, candidates must answer questions to the satisfaction of examiners to warrant a pass in the oral examination. However, what constitutes a satisfactory viva performance – let alone an excellent one – is often undefined.
Design/methodology/approach
Using narrative inquiry as the guiding research approach to investigate this issue, 12 experienced doctoral examiners from across the disciplines at a Malaysian research university were interviewed. Their narratives were analysed inductively.
Findings
The findings show that examiners expect candidates to speak the language of defence by manifesting confident, interactional behaviour, providing credible and convincing responses and displaying doctoralness. The aspects of candidate's oral performance undesired by the examiners, as well as the reasons for having such expectations, are also discussed. The paper argues that the expectations of examiners in the PhD viva should be made explicit and communicated to the candidates and examiners to ensure a positive doctoral assessment process and outcome.
Originality/value
This paper contributes to the literature on doctoral assessment, particularly on the PhD viva, through the voices of examiners in the Global South. It also offers an examiner expectancy model of the PhD viva.

Abstract
Ceramic three‐dimensional parts can be produced by a stereolithography (SL) process using a ceramic suspension containing alumina powder, UV curable monomer, diluent, photoinitiator and dispersant. The monomer reacts to UV radiation (argon ionized laser) and is transformed into a solid polymer which is then removed by thermal treatment (debinding). Subsequent sintering of green parts leads to dense ceramic parts. The effect of each component on the rheology of the alumina suspensions has been studied first. Both the addition of dispersant and diluent and the increase in temperature allow a significant decrease of the viscosity of the suspensions. The highly loaded (more than 55 vol. per cent), homogeneous and stable suspensions have a shear thinning behaviour which is favourable for casting the layers. Adequate cured depth (above 200μm) and satisfactory transversal resolution have been obtained and these allow the production of ceramic parts, which demonstrates the feasibility of the process. Sintering at 1,580°C leads to dense ceramic parts with homogeneous microstructure. The process still needs to be optimized to improve even more the mechanical properties.

Abstract
The purpose of this article is to present an overview of the history and development of transaction log analysis (TLA) in library and information science research. Organizing a literature review of the first twenty‐five years of TLA poses some challenges and requires some decisions. The primary organizing principle could be a strict chronology of the published research, the research questions addressed, the automated information retrieval (IR) systems that generated the data, the results gained, or even the researchers themselves. The group of active transaction log analyzers remains fairly small in number, and researchers who use transaction logs tend to use this method more than once, so tracing the development and refinement of individuals' uses of the methodology could provide insight into the progress of the method as a whole. For example, if we examine how researchers like W. David Penniman, John Tolle, Christine Borgman, Ray Larson, and Micheline Hancock‐Beaulieu have modified their own understandings and applications of the method over time, we may get an accurate sense of the development of all applications.

Abstract
Photolithography allows the fabrication of a solid polymer object through polymerization of a monomer resin by means of a laser source guided according to the data of computer aided design. However, one drawback of this method is the inaccuracy of the dimensions of the objects related to the shrinkage phenomenon which depends on the polymerization, on the laser flux and on the used sweeping procedure. In this paper, the deformation of an isolated voxel (elementary volume) or a voxel interacting with its neighbor is described. This simulation is based on a kinetic model that takes into account the gel effect and a model of volumetric variation due to the difference of the length of the bonds between the monomer and polymer molecules.
