Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the circuit analysis differential equations, which play an important role in the field of electrical and electronic engineering, and it was necessary to propose a very simple and direct method to obtain approximate solutions for the linear or non-linear differential equations, which should be simple for engineers to understand.

Design/methodology/approach

This paper introduces a simple novel Maclaurin series method (MSM) to propose an approximate novel solution in the area of circuit analysis for linear and non-linear differential equations. These equations describe the alternating current circuit of the resistor–capacitor, which evaluates the effect of non-linear current resistance. Linear and non-linear differential equations are evaluated as a computational analysis to assist the research, which reveals that the MSM is incredibly simple and effective.

Findings

Simulation findings indicate that the achieved proposed solution using the novel suggested approach is identical to the exact solutions mentioned in the literature. As the Maclaurin series is available to all non-mathematicians, this paper reflects mostly on theoretical implementations of the numerous circuit problems that occur in the field of electrical engineering.

Originality/value

A very simple and efficient method has been proposed in this paper, which is very easy to understand for even non-mathematicians such as engineers. The paper introduced a method of the Maclaurin series to solve non-linear differential equations resulting from the study of the circuits. The MSM mentioned here will be a useful tool in areas of physical and engineering anywhere the problem of the circuits is studied.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to present the problem of three‐dimensional flow of a fluid of constant density forced through the porous bottom of a circular porous slider moving laterally on a flat plate.

Design/methodology/approach

The transformed nonlinear ordinary differential equations are solved via the homotopy perturbation method (HPM) for small as well as moderately large Reynolds numbers. The convergence of the obtained HPM solution is carefully analyzed. Finally, the validity of results is verified by comparing with numerical methods and existing numerical results.

Findings

Close agreement of the two sets of results is observed, thus demonstrating the accuracy of the HPM approach for the particular problem considered.

Originality/value

Interesting conclusions which can be drawn from this study are that HPM is very effective and simple compared to the existing solution method, able to solve problems without using Padé approximants and can therefore be considered as a clear advantage over the N.M. Bujurke and Phan‐Thien techniques.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to unfold the relationship between service quality and level of performance of conventional and Islamic banks. Also, it intends to uncover what are the features of service quality which can raise the level of performance either in conventional banks or Islamic banks. There is rare literature available that focused on comparative study between above stated banking systems based on emerging parameters of SERVQUAL model.

Design/methodology/approach

To meet the objectives of this investigation, research data has been from 450 customers who have had accounts and dealings with conventional and Islamic banks in the previous five years. The customers are selected based on cluster sampling from regional offices of conventional and Islamic banks.

Findings

The collected data have been analyzed by using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) technique followed by common method variance (CMV), multiple regression test and independent sample t-test used to examine the parameters of service quality in the context of banks performance. The purpose of CFA is to find the model validity, while multiple regression and t-test is performed in order to examine the influence of service quality parameters on banks performance.

Originality/value

The study used compliance as a one of the emerging and unique dimension of service quality. This dimension is rarely investigated in the context of measuring the level of bank performance of conventional and Islamic banking systems. Findings reveal responsiveness and assurance is the strongest predictor of conventional banking performance. Compliance and reliability has significant and positive impact on the level of performance of Islamic banks. Moreover, the study has practical implications for the top management and stakeholders of conventional and Islamic banks to increase the level of performance by using SERVQUAL model.

Abstract

This chapter The Grass Is Greener Where You Water It! delves deeper into explicating Employee Green Behaviour (EGB), which outlines the eco-friendly behaviours practiced by employees. The section provides a more thorough explanation of EGB, including its origins, theoretical foundations, and practical applications in a social and physical environment to create environmentally conscious workplaces. The in-role and extra-role of EGB are discussed to strengthen its execution, and its significance considering the present ecological exigency. This chapter outlines the five-features-hierarchical framework for EGB: Sustainability Initiatives, Non-Harmful Action, Resource Conservation, Peer Influence, and Individual Commitment. The environmental history, ecosystems, and biodiversity and their interaction with humans from the ancient period to the present day are provided. The later unit explores organizational plans to encourage EGB, focussing on the role of HR policies, practices, and systems in nurturing the culture of sustainability within organizations. This chapter reviews current studies on EGB, emphasizing the role of employee engagement, transformational environmental leadership, and corporate culture in promoting green practices. It contributes to the academic literature by analyzing EGB, its relevance, and the effects it can have on organizations and society. It is a great tool for academics, government officials, and business heads to make workplaces environmentally friendly.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of the study is to investigate the mechanisms through which green HRM practices foster green creativity among employees. Specifically, it tests a conceptual model linking green HRM practices to green creativity, with employee thriving at work as a mediator and creative leadership as a moderator strengthening the links.

Design/methodology/approach

The study collected survey data from 319 employees working in the financial, internet and IT sectors in the developed coastal regions of China. The conceptual model and hypotheses were tested using this sample focused on sustainability-oriented sectors based in regions with imperative ecological needs and priorities.

Findings

The findings indicate that thriving at work (characterized by vitality and learning) mediates between green HRM practices and green creativity. In addition, creative leadership was found to moderate the impact of green HRM on both thriving and green creativity, including the indirect effects through thriving.
