Abstract
Purpose
This study conducts an empirical analysis of the relationship between credit market conditions and agriculture output in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper uses a two-stage least square instrumental variable and difference generalised method of moments dynamic panel model because potential reverse causation and endogeneity are addressed.
Findings
The findings show that better credit market conditions contribute to agriculture productivity. The results also show that better infrastructure and availability of agriculture inputs are associated with productivity improvements. The empirical results are robust when an alternative measure of agriculture productivity is used.
Research limitations/implications
An important research agenda for future studies will be to consider alternative measures of credit market conditions and other intervening variables that influence the nexus. Besides, other methods that account for cross-sectional dependence could also be considered as the impact of credit on agriculture varies across the sub-regions.
Practical implications
The findings make a case for enhancing credit market access to boost agriculture productivity. There is also a need to implement financial education programs for farmers and ensuring continuous engagement with farmers.
Originality/value
Although the issue of agriculture finance has been well documented in the literature, few studies have estimated the elasticity of agriculture productivity to changes in credit conditions. Also, our consideration of the intervening role of infrastructure amongst others is an area that has remained relatively unexplored.

This paper aims to examine issues of bribery, cronyism and nepotism in one of the most corrupt countries in Africa.
Design/methodology/approach
This is a single-country case study, drawing on material dating from the mid-1970s, including court cases.
Findings
The corruption is pervasive and systemic, showing severe problems with governance in general, in the sector and against corruption. Nonetheless, two operators, one South African and one Nigerian, have delivered extensive access to mobile networks.
Practical implications
The system of governance requires significant structural reforms, if the burden of corruption is to be reduced.
Originality/value
This paper sheds new and explicit light on the complex history of telecommunications in Nigeria. It adds to the small base of material on corruption in the telecommunications sector. It identifies issues that could usefully be taken up by institutions in Nigeria.

Case overview/synopsis
Standard Microfinance Bank Limited (SMFB) was a private micro-finance bank situated at Yola, Adamawa State of Nigeria. It initially started as a community bank in 1992 to provide loans to individuals and small business owners in Adamawa. It started with the services of payment service and savings account with a limited lending capacity. It had become a full-fledged retail bank and was grown to 13 branches across Nigeria. It planned for expansion such as market development, product development and diversification by the year 2020. It had a customer base of 60,000 till the end of December 2018. Vazheparambil Mani Francis was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the SMFB. The SMFB faced challenges such as operating the remote villages, lack of financial literacy among people, recovery of the loan amount, submission of false credentials and change of customer identity after loan by their customer. It was not going to be an easy task for him to operate the business of SMFB in Nigeria. However, in December 2018, Francis was facing a dilemma about the future success of SMFB business in Nigeria by looking into the challenges and complexities of business. Francis was determined to figure out the appropriate growth strategy for managing the challenges.

Abstract
Purpose
This bibliometric review examines the recent literature on sensor-based fall prevention for older adults. It analyzes publication trends, key researchers and institutions, major research themes, as well as gaps and opportunities in this field.
Design/methodology/approach
A comprehensive search was conducted in Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) databases for publications from 1990 to 2024. Bibliometric indicators including publication output, citation analysis and co-occurrence of keywords were used to map the research landscape. Network visualizations were employed to identify key thematic clusters.
Findings
The research on sensor-based fall prevention has grown rapidly, peaking in 2019. The USA, Australia and Canada lead this work, with universities and hospitals collaborating globally. Key themes include fall epidemiology, wearable sensors and AI for fall detection. Opportunities exist to better implement these sensor systems through large trials, user-centered design, hybrid sensors and advanced analytics.
Research limitations/implications
While comprehensive, the analysis focused primarily on publications indexed in Scopus and WoS, which may not capture all relevant literature. Future studies could expand the search to include other databases and conduct deeper analyses of highly influential studies.
Practical implications
The review provides an evidence-informed roadmap to accelerate the translation of sensor innovations into scalable and sustainable fall prevention practices for vulnerable older adult populations.
Originality/value
This is the first comprehensive bibliometric analysis to map the research landscape of sensor-based fall prevention, identifying key trends, themes and opportunities to advance this critical domain addressing a major global public health challenge.

Purpose
Recent technological advancements, often linked to Industry 4.0, require organizations to be more agile and innovative. Blockchain technology (BT) holds immense potential in driving organizations to achieve efficiency and transparency in supply chains. However, there exist some insurmountable challenges associated with the adoption of BT in organizational supply chains (SC). This paper attempts to categorically identify and systematize the most influential challenges in the implementation of BT in SC.
Design/methodology/approach
This study resorts to an extensive literature review and consultations with experts in the field of supply chain management (SCM), information technology and academia to identify, categorize and prioritize the major challenges using VlseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR) and Combined Compromise Solution method (CoCoSo).
Findings
The top three classes of challenges revealed in this study are privacy challenges (PC), infrastructure challenges (IC) and transparency challenges (TC). Maintaining a balance between data openness and secrecy and rectification of incorrect/erroneous input are the top two challenges in the PC category, integration of BT with sustainable practices and ensuring legitimacy are the top two challenges in the IC category, and proper and correct information sharing in organizations was the top most challenge in the TC category.
Originality/value
Future scholars and industry professionals will be guided by the importance of the challenges identified in this study to develop an economical and logical approach for integrating BT to increase the efficiency and outcome of supply chains across several industrial sectors.

Purpose
In the past few decades, performance measuring systems have become important managerial tools for healthcare organizations. Healthcare performance metrics are a useful tool in understanding how healthcare organizations achieve their goals while satisfying the needs of their patients and conforming to national and international standards. Various efforts have been made to assess healthcare performance. Most of these measures are focused on a single perspective or developed by a single source to meet management and strategic objectives on time.
Design/methodology/approach
We develop a review of the literature to shed light on the measures used to assess performance in the healthcare sector at various points in time, as well as to establish a thorough understanding of healthcare performance measurement.
Findings
Developing real-time digital traceability of metrics and an integrative perspective that increases the actionability of information acquired is an attractive potential made possible by the introduction of new technologies and the digitization of data.
Originality/value
We conclude that a proper measurement system should be one to combine patient, physician, non-medical staff and system perspective, which will further facilitate the assessment of healthcare performance and the comparative function.
