Abstract

Purpose

This research aims to reveal the working principles of the decision mechanism that affects the use of neural implant acceptance and to discuss the leading role of digital literacy in this mechanism. In addition, it aimed to examine the theoretical connections of the research model with the conservation of resources (COR) and technology acceptance model (TAM) theories in the discussion.

Design/methodology/approach

The authors collected data from 300 individuals in an organization operating in the health sector and analyzed the data in the Smart Partial Least Squares (PLS) 3.3.3. This way, the authors determined the relationships between the variables, the path coefficients and the significance levels.

Findings

The study has found that strong digital literacy skills are linked to positive emotions and attitudes. Additionally, maintaining a positive mindset can improve one's understanding of ethics. Ethical attitudes and positive emotions can also increase the likelihood of adopting neural implants. Therefore, it is crucial to consider both technical and ethical concerns and emotions when deciding whether to use neural implants.

Originality/value

The research results determined the links between the cognitive, emotional and ethical factors in the cyborgization process of the employees and gave original insights to the managers and employees.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is twofold: to examine to what extent the companies could adapt the corporate governance principles of the Capital Markets Board (CMB) to their own structures in terms of stakeholder relations; and second, to raise awareness of the deficiencies related to these relations.

Design/methodology/approach

The companies listed in ISE‐50 Index in the fourth quarter of 2010 were examined. The corporate governance principles compliance reports, activity reports and articles of associations of the companies that should be issued were examined to obtain the data. The research findings have been studied under five subtitles: company policies relating to stakeholders; promoting the participation of stakeholders in the management; human resources policies; relations with the customers and suppliers; ethical rules and social responsibility.

Findings

It is found that the companies have not taken any action for the representation of the employees in the board of directors. Also, it is seen that most of the companies, when any interest group is privileged, do not make the confidential business information obtained due to such privilege used so as to violate the equal opportunity principle. There are difficulties in paying attention to the confidentiality of the confidential business information related to the customers and suppliers.

Practical implications

The findings of this study can indicate that, effective handling of applications reflecting the perception related with the stakeholders of the corporate governance could only be probable if CMB corporate governance principles “practice and specify what you do not practice” have become compulsory.

Originality/value

The paper provides useful information on the relationships of the companies listed in the ISE‐50 Index with stakeholders.

Abstract

Purpose

Drawing upon the natural resource-based view (NRBV) and social cognitive theory (SCT), the present study explores the role of green learning orientation (GLO) and green creativity (GC) as a mediating variable in the relationship between green transformational leadership (GTL) and green innovation (GI) in the Italian hotel industry. The research further assesses environmental performance (EP) and corporate green image (CGI) as a resultant factor of GI.

Design/methodology/approach

Two studies were conducted in Italy to evaluate theoretical models with workers in the lodging industry. Study 1 employed a three-wave, two-week time-lagged design with a total sample size of 303. Study 2 utilized a two-wave (four-week apart) design, with 349 participants using structural equation modeling.

Findings

The research findings emphasize that the enhancement of employees’ GLO and GC can be facilitated by providing GTL. This, in turn, may lead to the enhancement of GI, which improves the EP and CGI of a hotel.

Originality/value

The study comprehensively analyzes the previously unexamined relationships of employee-driven factors associated with GLO and GC. These factors are essential for promoting GI through GTL, ultimately enhancing EP and CGI. Therefore, it contributes by explaining previously unexplored employee and organizational factors in a unified model, utilizing time-lagged data, and enhancing the understanding of how organizations can elevate EP and CGI, particularly within the Italian hospitality sector.

Abstract

Purpose

The objective of this investigation is to examine the correlation between green transformational leadership (GTL) and organizational green innovation (GI) by employing a mediation model. Drawing upon the social cognitive theory and natural resource-based view, the present study explores the role of green creativity (GC) as a mediating variable in the relationship between GTL and GI in the hotel industry.

Design/methodology/approach

The research was conducted in Italian luxury hotels to assess the efficacy of our conceptual framework among workers in the hospitality industry. The study utilized a three-wave 2-week time-lagged design (N = 303). In addition, the study also intends to apply the Partial Least Squares – Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) and the fuzzy qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) to have distinctive discernment into model rapport.

Findings

The results of the study indicate the linkage between GTL and GI. Furthermore, the study also found the partial mediation of GC of employees. The results show numerous combinations using fsQCA that can be utilized to increase green performance (GP).

Originality/value

The study helps the hotel industry maximize its performance by unravelling irregular relationships. Therefore, it contributes by explaining previously unexplored factors and elucidating causal recipes to build a higher GP base through GTL, GC and GI. The research findings hold significant implications for comprehending the effects of GTL on organizational GI as well as its influence on GP. The limitations of the study are discussed for avenues of future research.
