Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the underlying knowledge structure and evolution of industrial-buying research published between 1965 and 2015.
Design/methodology/approach
Bibliometric analysis is performed on 357 relevant papers (using principal component analysis and natural language processing, using VantagePoint® tools, used to generate bubble maps, auto-correlation maps and Aduna cluster maps), demonstrating how various factors involved in industrial buying have evolved, their degree of correlation with each other and the interrelationships of multiple factors concerning their co-occurrences.
Findings
The systematic mapping of industrial-buying research would illustrate the development of the significant factors in industrial-buying research. This paper provides both a global perspective on the leading countries and journals in the field and a robust roadmap for further investigation in this field.
Research limitations/implications
This paper is limited to the data considered for analysis and may, therefore, overlook or underestimate some work that has not been captured while filtering databases related to industrial buying.
Practical implications
This paper facilitates near-future projection and trend analysis in industrial-buying research.
Originality/value
The methodology used is unique to the field of business-to-business marketing.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationships between supplier development practices (SDPs) and supplier-buyer relationship practices from the supplier’s perspective (SBRSP), and seek to understand how specific SDPs may impact a buyer’s operational performance as well as supplier-buyer relationship practices.
Design/methodology/approach
The authors conducted a survey of 512 respondents from the different manufacturing firms in India and applied structural equation modelling to test a structural model that proposes the impacts of various efforts of SDPs on a buyer’s performance as well as SBRSP.
Findings
The study concludes that SDPs and SBRSP together improve the relationship between a buyer and supplier, and this improved relationship leads to competitive advantages (CAs) followed by profitability. Results indicate that supplier perspective of buyer-supplier relationship can be improved under the condition of SDPs and SBRSP together. SDPs are driven by productive measure and competitive pressure, whereas customer uncertainty is found to be statistically insignificant.
Research limitations/implications
The study was carried out in North Maharashtra Industrial Zone of India, where the auto sector and machine/components manufacturing firms have been established for a considerable period of time. Results of the study are limited to manufacturing organizations predominantly focussing on the automobile sector and machine/components manufacturing firms.
Practical implications
This study provides significant insights into the specific impact of various SDPs and SBRSP for both academics and practitioners. SDPs along with SBRSP practices lead to improvement in the relationship leading to CAs. SBRSP suggests that trust, long-term commitments and the supplier’s perspective are important practices for relationship improvement.
Originality/value
The current study attempts to identify what are the success factors for the supplier-buyer relationship from the supplier’s perspective and SDPs and how the supplier-buyer relationship can be improved under the condition of SDPs and SBRSP. Hence, the aim is to develop a more thorough understanding of the outcomes of a supplier-buyer relationship improvement from both buyer’s and supplier’s perspective, under the conditions of supplier development to achieve CAs leading to profitability. Furthermore, the study analyses the effect of the improved supplier-buyer relationship for achieving CAs leading to profitability.

Abstract
Purpose
The primary aim of this paper is to investigate the nature, degree and direction of the effects of certain classes of corporate ownership on capital structure decisions among firms.
Design/methodology/approach
Using a sample of 71 quoted companies in Nigeria, the study adopts panel fixed effects regression models to estimate the relationship between financial leverage and corporate ownership, while controlling for some firm‐specific characteristics like profitability, firm size and firm age.
Findings
The study finds that discrimination between indigenous and foreign firms is a major determinant of financial leverage in Nigeria; and that the consistency of empirical results and capital structure theories across countries depends much on the dominant nature of corporate ownership structure.
Research limitations/implications
An attempt to widely generalize the results of this study may be challenged by its relatively small sample. With data from just a sample of 71 firms, the robustness of the country‐, time‐ and company‐ effects may not have been fully captured in the estimation process.
Practical implications
The paper provides necessary platforms, especially to corporate managers, for aligning financing decisions and ownership structure to other structural characteristics such as size, age, and profitability.
Originality/value
The study is unique because it examines ownership effects on leverage using selected ownership classes; and because it focuses on an economy with harsh corporate operating environment and constrained capital market condition..

The paper focuses on Malaysia's huge waste challenges and how circular economy practices can turn that into increased and sustained economic growth.

Published official reports on the country's sustainable development initiatives, policy statements from local authorities and government agencies as well as UN bodies and other secondary materials were sourced for this article.
Findings
The paper finds that Malaysia's waste can be used in generating wealth for the country if and when a conscious effort is made towards establishing a sound circular economy in the country. It also sees enormous opportunities that exist for cooperative models of social enterprises and business innovations.
Originality/value
The paper details the numerous policies and initiatives that the Malaysian government has embarked upon in recent times and scrutinises them to decipher the direction of country's bid for sustainable development. It also carries details of what can be done to achieve circularity as well as the benefits that can accrue from that.
