Abstract
Purpose
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in men in the UK. Black men are in a higher prostate cancer risk group possibly due to inherent genetic factors. The purpose of this paper is to introduce PROstate Cancer Evaluation and Education (PROCEE), an innovative serious game aimed at providing prostate cancer information and risk evaluation to black African-Caribbean men.
Design/methodology/approach
PROCEE has been carefully co-designed with prostate cancer experts, prostate cancer patients and members of the black African-Caribbean community in order to ensure that it meets the real needs and expectations of the target audience.
Findings
During the co-design process, the users defined an easy to use and entertaining game which can effectively raise awareness, inform users about prostate cancer and their risk, and encourage symptomatic men to seek medical attention in a timely manner.
Originality/value
During focus group evaluations, users embraced the game and emphasised that it can potentially have a positive impact on changing user behaviour among high risk men who are experiencing symptoms and who are reluctant to visit their doctor.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to analyze a mathematical model for the time-dependent flow of non-Newtonian Williamson liquid because of a stretching surface. The mathematical formulation of the current model is accomplished from the momentum, energy and concentration balances by assuming a laminar, two-dimensional and incompressible flow subjected to a variable magnetic field. The study further aimed at discovering the possible effects of temperature-dependent thermal conductivity on the heat transfer characteristics.
Design/methodology/approach
In addition, a first-order chemical reaction is considered between the fluid and chemically reacting species. The governing transport model for Williamson fluid has been altered to ordinary differential equations via appropriate dimensionless parameters. These basic non-dimensional partially coupled differential equations of fluid motion are solved by an efficient Runge–Kutta–Fehlberg integration scheme along with the Nachtsheim–Swigert shooting technique.
Findings
It is found that the velocity slip parameter has a reducing impact on the skin friction coefficient. Moreover, we noticed that the Hartmann number and variable thermal conductivity parameters show prominent impacts on the velocity and temperature fields. It is also perceived that the fluid temperature shows an increasing trend with uplifting values of variable thermal conductivity.

Abstract
Purpose
This study examines the impact of five dimensions of decent work on the faculty engagement in Pakistan’s higher education institutions. Furthermore, it examines the moderating influence of intrinsic religiosity on the associations above.
Design/methodology/approach
This research employed a cross-sectional approach to collect data from 542 faculty members working with higher education institutions through electronic and in-person questionnaire administration.
Findings
The findings indicate that safe interpersonal working conditions, opportunities for free time and rest, adequate compensation, and the availability of healthcare services significantly positively impact the level of work engagement among faculty members. Additionally, the research revealed that intrinsic religiosity reinforces the previously established significant associations.
Research limitations/implications
The research acknowledges specific constraints that could impact the applicability of its findings, including the utilization of a cross-sectional methodology, the dependence on self-reported information, and the possibility of sample biases. Subsequent investigations may rectify these constraints to provide a more all-encompassing comprehension of the subject matter.
Practical implications
The findings possess practical significance for the management of HEIs in cultivating an ideal working atmosphere for faculty members. Ensuring adequate compensation, secure working environments and healthcare accessibility is underscored to enhance faculty engagement. Furthermore, acknowledging the significance of intrinsic religiosity can improve faculty engagement.
Originality/value
This research contributes to the current body of literature by investigating the complex relationship among decent work, faculty engagement, and intrinsic religiosity in the specific context of higher education institutions in Pakistan.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to propose a practical framework for community participation in post-disaster resettlement.
Design/methodology/approach
The proposed framework has been tested in two model villages (MVs) of Punjab, Pakistan. Primary data were collected through household surveys, focus group discussions and expert interviews. A survey with 67 households was conducted for obtaining qualitative data regarding community participation in post-disaster resettlement.
Findings
The first MV (Ittehad MV) was resettled by the local NGO, and the second (Basti Meera Mullan) by the provincial government. Results indicate that community participation significantly varied in selected MVs. NGOs have achieved positive realizations due to effective community involvement in resettlement efforts, whereas the governmental approach lacked in proactive community participation.
Practical implications
This framework can be used for other disasters, by refining and incorporating disaster relevant components. This research will be highly useful for disaster managers, private developers and NGOs engaged in resettling disaster-affected population.
Social implications
The proposed framework can help disaster-affected communities to resettle according to their terms. This can only be attained if affected communities will proactively participate in resettlement planning process.
Originality/value
This original framework is exclusively designed to attain sustainability for post-disaster settlement through community participation.

Salinity is one of the major problems in the coastal region of Bangladesh that contributes to 20% of the total land area. About 53% of the coastal region is affected by different degrees of salinity. Salinity intrusion in this area is mainly derived through climate change as well as anthropogenic factors that make this region more vulnerable. Hence, salinity intrusion has adverse effects on water, soils, agriculture, fisheries, ecosystem, and livelihoods of this region. To ensure the availability of food as well as drinking water, this chapter highlights how individual and community people have endeavored several adaptation measures to minimize salinity effects. Moreover, it further discloses governmental and other development organizations’ actions toward salinity to reduce its impacts.

Abstract
The success of intelligent tutoring systems (ITS) has always been questioned. Recent developments however in the object‐oriented technologies and artificial intelligence techniques have allowed development of better human‐computer interaction for effective teaching and learning. This paper presents the implementation of an ITS that employs game environment and object‐oriented user interface (OOUI) for teaching and learning. The reported implementation is based on use of a game environment to impart industrial training for energy conservation in a steam distribution system. The ITS developed allows players to assume a particular role in a process industry and learn efficient operation of steam distribution system for conserving energy in the plant. The design of game environment and supporting OOUI are discussed. Those aspects of design and implementation that are of equal interest to game designers, instructional designers and educationists are described in detail. The paper may assist game developers and instructional designers in developing ITS for other disciplines.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the performance of conventional and Islamic paradigms of banking through profitability. Profitability of conventional and Islamic banks is compared through four authentic methods of ratio through reliable statistical data from seven countries. The healthier bank spread in the Islamic way of banking is analyzed and compared with the conventional trend of banking.
Design/methodology/approach
Profitability of two‐streams of banking are analyzed through bank spread, bank margin to total assets, non‐interest‐based costs to total assets and relationship of bank‐spread and NPBT&Z of conventional and Islamic banks. Data from 87 banks belonged to seven countries were analyzed to obtain results, of which 35 were following Islamic principles‐based products and services. Countries are selected among those which are following binary‐banking systems simultaneously. Statistical data are gathered from audited‐annual reports of these sample banks.
Findings
Islamic banks are found to reflect marginal bank spread but bear higher operational (non‐bank margin) costs.
Research limitations/implications
Statistical data are gathered from audited annual accounts of banking companies. Foreign banks are excluded in this analysis due to non‐availability of published accounts for most of such banks at country level. Further NPLs of sample banks were not available in most of sample banks, which could provide actual statistical figures for earning assets of bank.
Originality/value
The paper will be helpful in analyzing the business approach of the global, growing trend of Islamic banking.

The peristaltic motion for Carreau fluid by means of an infinite train of sinusoidal waves traveling along the walls of a circular cylindrical flexible tube is investigated. The fluid is subjected to a constant transverse magnetic field. A perturbation solution is obtained for the case in which Weissenberg number is small. The effects of Hartmann number, Weissenberg number, power‐law index and amplitude ratio on the pressure rise and the friction force are discussed. The trapping limit and the trapping occurrence region at the centerline decrease by increasing Hartmann number but they are independent approximately of Weissenberg number and power‐law index.
