Abstract

Purpose

Social anxiety disorder is a common phenomenon that occurs in everyone with varying degrees, ranging from mild to severe. One of the causes of social anxiety disorder is a traumatic experience due to sexual harassment that has been experienced. In deaf women, this experience is made more difficult because of the language and speech limitations shared. As a result, irrational thoughts and beliefs arise for the victim. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Bisindo-based rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) model in reducing social anxiety in deaf women who are victims of sexual harassment.

Design/methodology/approach

The research method uses single-subject research with multiple baselines across subjects. The research subjects were deaf women victims of sexual harassment who the National Government Organization Woman Crises Center in West Sumatra and the Association of Indonesian Special Education Professionals identified. Data were collected by observation and social anxiety scale and analyzed by graphical visual analysis.

Findings

The results showed that the Bisindo-based REBT was effective in reducing social anxiety in deaf women who were victims of sexual harassment.

Research limitations/implications

The implementation of therapy in this study involved therapists, teachers and sign language interpreters. It requires extraordinary time and effort for the subjects to be able to reveal the sexual harassment they experienced. Furthermore, the small number of subjects meant that the results of this study could not be generalized widely. Therefore, this study has implications for future researchers to conduct experiments using the Bisindo-based REBT model on more subjects.

Practical implications

Practically, the results of this study have implications for a model for handling cases of sexual harassment in deaf women that can be used by women’s organizations and the Indonesian Association of Women with Disabilities.

Originality/value

It is recommended for counselors, psychologists and therapists to use the Bisindo-based REBT in dealing with cases of sexual harassment in deaf women because therapy that follows the characteristics of the victim’s language can help them to get the expected results.

Abstract

Purpose

Women with deafness are one of the vulnerable groups who experience sexual harassment. As a result, they experience psychological disorders such as stress, anxiety, fear and trauma. This problem is made worse because women with deafness have language and speech disorders. This paper aims to explore sexual harassment of women with deafness and develop Bisindo-based rational emotive behaviour therapy (REBT) to deal with sexual harassment against women with deafness.

Design/methodology/approach

Using the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation model of the R&D approach, this preliminary research study was carried out in four stages. The research respondents for the need assessment were 166 people with ten professional backgrounds spread throughout Indonesia. Respondents for model validation tests are ten people: REBT experts, psychologists, Bisindo experts, teachers, lecturers, Head of Women's Organization (WCC) and Head of the Deaf Community (Gerkatin) in West Sumatra. Data were collected by questionnaire.

Findings

The results showed that many women with deafness experienced sexual harassment. The handling model using REBT mediated by Bisindo is needed in further research to test its effectiveness. The validity test results show that the Bisindo-based REBT model has been declared feasible, helpful, accurate and practical to be used as a response model for sexual harassment in women with deafness.

Originality/value

The results of this study imply the need for the application of therapies that follow the characteristics of victims, such as Bisindo-based REBT for female sexual victims.

Abstract

Purpose

Critical evaluation of in-text citations is a substitute qualitative measurement method to determine the quality of scientific publications. Unfortunately, the development of tools to facilitate the measurement process has not received attention from academics. This study aims to develop a system to analyze the qualitative quality of publications in Indonesian-language or Indonesian written works.

Design/methodology/approach

The prototyping approach is used to develop applications with requirements gathered from previous research analysis and focus group discussions.

Findings

This research outcome, a Web-based system contains five methods for measuring publications based on in-text citations, namely, the location of citations (introduction, literature review, methods, result, results and discussion, discussion); frequency of citations, sentiment (positive, negative and neutral); function (utilization, introduction, comparison, explanation and links); and role of sources (data, supplements, methods and results).

Research limitations/implications

This tool has limitations that have the potential to be developed in further research. The notes given for each publication are made manually. In the future, this annotation process needs to be developed automatically and proposed to apply the Natural Language Processing methods. Thus, the analysis results will be faster and more accurate.

Originality/value

This paper contributes to the development of a system to analyze the citation quality of an Indonesian scientific paper. The system can be developed in the future to automatically detect the required attributes.

Abstract

Purpose

This study aims to explore personal and organizational factors in mitigating fraud intention through machiavellian personality, altruistic personality, religiousity, whistleblowing system, and accounting firm size. Companies will suffer greater losses if they cannot prevent fraudulent practices. The fraud hexagon theory is considered effective in detecting the possibility of fraud and the tendency of fraud motivated by personal and organizational factors. Therefore, the researchers examined several factors, including Machiavellian, altruism, religiosity, whistleblowing system and accounting firm size in mitigating fraud intention.

Design/methodology/approach

This study used a self-administered survey of accountants in Indonesia. The accountants were selected as the sample because the accounting profession has considerable potential in committing fraud. To avoid common method bias, the authors performed ex ante and ex post on the questionnaire. This research model was tested using structural equation modeling-partial least square.

Findings

The results revealed that personal factors in the form of Machiavellian, altruism and religiosity had a direct impact on decreasing fraud intention. In addition, whistleblowing system and accounting firm size were able to promote the effectiveness of fraud mitigation.

Research limitations/implications

This study uses one profession, namely, accountants, so it requires further research to see the similarity of results in other professions.

Practical implications

The results contribute to managerial decision-making. Companies should include personal tests during employee recruitment because personal factors are the key to determining individual fraud behavior.

Social implications

Combining personal factors and organizational factors can promote the success of the internal control system, so that individuals are encouraged to do ethical things.

Originality/value

This study combines personal and organizational factors in mitigating fraud, so as to know accurately which factors are most capable of mitigating fraud.

Abstract

Purpose

This study aims to investigate the influence of Muslim tourist perceived value (MTPV) on Muslim millennials’ intention to revisit Bandung (Indonesia) with customer satisfaction as an intervening variable.

Design/methodology/approach

Using quantitative methods, this study analyzed responses to a questionnaire distributed to 250 respondents from all over Indonesia. To test the hypothesis, the data were analyzed through Path Analysis using SPSS 24.I software.

Findings

The results suggest that MTPV has a significant effect on revisit intention to the city. This finding affirms that Islamic values and customer satisfaction are very important in encouraging millennial Muslims to revisit Bandung (Indonesia).

Practical implications

To increase Muslim millennials’ intention to revisit Bandung (Indonesia), tourist perceived value and satisfaction are central factors. The government's role is central in promoting halal tourism through various platforms, such as social media, seminars, workshops inter alia to increase MTPV and satisfaction rate toward the city. In addition, stakeholders in tourism sector should raise the awareness to support and encourage halal tourism through certifications of halal products and tourism services, and view halal tourism as a promising sector of tourism.

Originality/value

This study is the first to study the effects of Muslim tourists perceived value on revisit intention of millennial Muslims to Bandung (Indonesia) with customer satisfaction as an intervening variable. This study reveals the strengths and weaknesses of the perceived value of Muslim tourists in influencing millennial Muslims to revisit the city.

Abstract

Purpose

This study aims to determine the factors that influence the actual behavior of Islamic digital banking customers based on the users’ perspectives during the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic crisis.

Design/methodology/approach

This study used a causal exploratory method with quantitative and qualitative approaches presented in two parts. The first study (Study 1) was empirical testing of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2) used WARP-partial least square by modifying the variables of customer trust and satisfaction. A. Hayes’s PROCESS procedures were applied to examine the moderating effects of age, gender and experience. The second study (Study 2) explored the obstacles and solutions to improve digital banking services. The survey was conducted on 897 Islamic bank customers throughout Indonesia.

Findings

The results showed that all the hypotheses about the direct effect of the modification of the UTAUT2 model were supported empirically except for the effect of price value and hedonic motivation on behavioral intention, and there was just one moderating effect in this study. The other results show that 35 factors became obstacles to using digital banking.

Research limitations/implications

This study had limited qualitative data collection techniques that were less deep and comprehensive. This happened because respondents were given complete confidence to fill in the open questions without any follow-up to customer answers. For further research, an in-depth interview method can be added to crucial information from the customer and expert side to get in-depth and complementary data regarding constraints and solutions. This study only used a sample of customers of Islamic banks; further research is expected to use customers of Islamic banks and conventional banks to compare their preferences for digital banking.

Practical implications

This study offered seven strategies that could encourage increased digital banking transactions to accelerate crisis management, mitigate cybercrime and communicate the positive impact of digital banking effectively and efficiently.

Social implications

This study offered seven strategies that could encourage increased transactions using digital banking to accelerate crisis management, mitigate cybercrime and communicate the positive impact of digital banking effectively and efficiently.

Originality/value

Most of the existing studies focused on the modification model of the UTAUT2 model. The study is unique because it has proposed the obstacle and solution to improve digital banking service in Islamic Bank in Indonesia.

Abstract

Purpose

This paper aims to analyse the bibliometric characteristics of the ISO 50001 publication, map the state of the art of the research topic and identify future research issues.

Design/methodology/approach

This research is a bibliometric study. The data were collected from Scopus. Both performance and science mapping analysis were performed.

Findings

The research results showed the top author, paper and country of ISO 50001 publications. There are four author collaboration clusters and five country collaboration clusters. Eight research themes were mapped into four quadrants based on the density and centrality. The bibliometric coupling analysis showed six research clusters. Finally, the research issues were mapped. The implications were discussed.

Practical implications

This research gave several implications for researchers, practitioners and public policymakers. For researchers, the bibliometric analysis provides several research issues that can be followed up by future research. For practitioners, the bibliometric analysis showed that applied tools and methods that can assist the implementation of ISO 50001-based energy management have been developed. For public policymakers, the bibliometric analysis offered the knowledge structure on ISO 50001 that can be used in public policymaking development. The author collaboration cluster and the bibliometric coupling cluster can be used to trace the scientific information that is needed as the foundation of public policy.

Originality/value

Many ISO 50001 studies have been performed. However, based on the search in several main academic scientific paper databases, there is no bibliometric study on the research topic. This is the first bibliometric study on ISO 50001 publication. This study takes a holistic approach combining performance analysis and science mapping analysis that includes elaborated thematic mapping and evolution analysis.

Abstract

Purpose

Even though many studies have been conducted in exploring the determinants of job stress, limited research has been conducted in exploring how the internal factors of religious orientation and the relatively new variable in the field of psychology, psychological capital (PsyCap), may relate to job stress. This study aims to examine the influence of PsyCap as a mediating variable on the relationship between religious orientation and job stress.

Design/methodology/approach

This study used self-administered surveys. Data was collected through the completion of online questionnaires. The participants include 208 accountants and business practitioners in Indonesia. Data were analysed using structural equation model-partial least squares.

Findings

The results show that intrinsic (extrinsic) religious orientation is negatively (positively) related to job stress and positively (negatively) related to PsyCap. Additionally, PsyCap mediates the relationship between religious orientation (intrinsic and extrinsic) and job stress. Other results indicate a positive relationship between PsyCap and job stress.

Research limitations/implications

Firstly, the sample used comes from various professions in companies or agencies that function differently. Secondly, this study asks individuals to assess their own job stress, which increases the chance of bias.

Practical implications

The findings of this study will provide a recommendation to the company, particularly the human resources division, to consider candidates’ religious orientation and PsyCap levels during the recruitment process. Thus, the company may observe the employees or individuals who can effectively manage job stress.

Originality/value

This study provides new empirical evidence regarding the relationship between religious orientation, PsyCap and job stress. It shows that the individual’s religious orientation (intrinsic and extrinsic) affects their level of PsyCap (higher and lower), which is a determinant factor in the experience of job stress.

Abstract

Purpose

Recently, autonomous vehicles (AV) acceptance has been studied intensively. This paper aims to map and analyze the bibliometric characteristics of AV acceptance literature. Furthermore, this research aims to identify research gaps and propose future research opportunities.

Design/methodology/approach

The bibliometric analysis was performed. Scopus database was used as the source of the literature. This study selected and analyzed 297 AV acceptance papers. The performance and science mapping analysis were performed.

Findings

The developed countries tended to dominate the topic. The publication outlet tended to be in transportation or technology journals. There were four research themes in existing literature. Technology acceptance model (TAM) and UTAUT2 tended to be used for explaining AV acceptance. AV acceptance studies tended to use two types of psychological concepts for understanding AV acceptance, namely risk related concepts and functional utilitarian benefit related concepts. In the context of research design, quantitative approach tended to be used. Self-driving feature was the most exploited feature of AV in the existing literature. Three research gaps were mapped and future research opportunities were proposed.

Practical implications

This paper provided a comprehensive information that allowed scientists to develop future research on AV acceptance.

Originality/value

There is lack of paper that discussed the bibliometric characteristics of AV acceptance literature. This paper fulfilled the gap.
